Day One update from the IAAF World Championships, in Doha, Qatar:
- Christian Coleman (USA) wins the men's 100m. Justin Gatlin (USA) gets silver.
- Tajay Gayle (JAM) wins the men's high jump. Jeff Henderson (USA) settles for silver.
- Sifan Hassan (NED) wins the women's 10,000m.
- Ruth Chepngetich (KEN) wins the women's marathon.
- Deanna Price (USA) wins the women's hammer throw. Gwen Berry (USA), who won gold at the 2019 Pan American Games last month, qualified for the Final, but did not complete a throw in the Final.
- United States set a new World Record in the mixed 4x400 relay, during the preliminary round.
- Yusuke Suzuki (JPN) wins the men's 50km walk.
- Rui Liang (CHN) wins the women's 50 km walk.
