How difficult is it to sign a role playing free agent to the Kings' roster? He should have been signed by now. It's not like there is a league-wide bidding war for his services. Get on it, Kings!
Good question, but there could be more going on here than meets the eye. For instance, there is also a rumor about the Kings taking on a bad contract for a first rd pick. Without specifying any particular deal, almost all of them would use up the 20.5 mil we have. So, if we were to go ahead and sign Bjelica for the rumored 2 years at 13 mil, we would no longer have enough to absorb one of those big contracts. However, if we were to do the big contract first, which would put us over the cap, we could then turn around and use the non-taxpayer mid-level exception ($8,641,000.00, which can be broken up) to sign Bjelica.

I'm sure the Capt will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's what could be going on here. At least it's a possibility.

I hope that's the case, baja. I'd love to have a twofer out of this - Bjelica and a 1st rounder. Given the moribund FA so far, I think I'd settle for just Bjelica! I thought I had a decent amount of patience. (At this point, if you're a Kings' fan your role model has got to be Job). But this FA period is testing my limits!:)

If no cap space deal with rockets
Have to waive Davis to make roster spot
Then sign Bjelica , get to the floor, save 11mil to next year

Bjelica at starting 3
Ryno for 3rd PF and pick
Dump two bigs
20 million for a 3rd string pf?

I mean why would we want both if they are very similar players. It should be one or the other, not both.

20 million less 10 mil for 2 bigs plus a 1st rd pick!
need to clear roster space
Everyone keeps saying we need shooters to stretch the floor, now we have 1 combo 3-4 who can shoot (Bjelly)and a strtch 4 shooter-Ryan
thats two shooting bigs for 2 nonshooting bigs (Davis,KK) plus we get a pick!

Now we have Bjelly,Ryno,Skal who can shoot 3s
3 SGs that can shoot 3s
Plus Yogi can shoot 3s

I came into this free agency with no real expectations, so I'm really enjoying it. ;)

We should be after one or the other.
That's what I'm thinking too.

It's either Bjelica or Ryan Anderson.

There is not enough roster space for both. We are at 15 already with Yogi. We would actually need to trade a player to Houston (Ben Mac, Mason or Deyonte Davis?) or release someone to trade for Ryno or sign Bjelica.

If we have to pay Ryno $20 mil a year, Bjelica would not be redundant.

That may be the hold up right now. Maybe we are trying to see if Houston will part with multiple picks to dump Ryno to the last team with cap space. If Houston doesn't pull the trigger soon, say hello to Luxury Tax hell! ;)

Being a Kings fan is knowing that there is rarely a big splash in free agency. Wait, let me clarify. Being a LIFELONG Kings fan....

Anyways, as is usual, we make smaller moves in free agency. However, they USUALLY work. The Jim Jackson, Keon Clark type moves.

I do like seeing players say "hold up on that dotted line crap, let me talk to the Kings real quick". And especially what Yogizzle said after he signed. SOMEBODY is taking us seriously. Yay us.
The most amazing thing is how this stuff just fell into Vlade's lap because hasn't everyone been saying he wasn't doing anything? :p
