It's Ayton or Dončić for me. Either one of those guys is perfect for our team as those are our weakest areas. Wouldn't mind having a dominant big man again, I certainly miss having that. Would balance the roster nicely too. I like Willie, but he can't be the main big man.

Dončić also has the potential to be a franchise changer, although there's always some caution to be had with European players and their transition. I wouldn't expect him to light the league on fire immediately, but the man is deserving of the number one pick. He can be the spark in our offense.

What a great dilemma. Best of all we don't even have to worry about it, just take who the Suns don't!
Is this 1999? There hasn't really been a European star prospect who's come over and completely flopped since maybe Darko.

You could. But that'd still mean you'd take minutes from Giles, Skal, or Z-Bo.
Again I would start Ayton and Stein - Ayton focus for offense, Stein can roam more on defense. Skal although very skilled offensively, his defense is pedestrian. Is Giles ever gonna play - Have my doubts.

Watching Doncic clips he seems to have a propensity to shoot Jason Williams 3-points - 30 footers ....hmmm. He does dribble exceptionally well for his size.

You hope for and take Luka and you don't look back.

I had the opportunity to watch him in person in Dec vs Olympiacos and his skill, his all around game jumps off the charts. There's a Rubio/Nash presence and flair to his vision and handle. There's a Kidd attribute in the way he attacks the defensive boards and looks to push. He's also got creative footwork to get his shot off, intelligent footwork. The kid can hit 23 foot fadeaways off a step-back crossover on his right foot.

Plus my son has the same name, same initials, Luka D.

I go Luka/Bogdan as the main ball handlers. Hope Giles impresses. Spend on a big with a real defensive/boarding presence. Willie still had ADHD. Can't be counted on.
Welcome back my friend

You guys are absolutely nuts who don't want Doncic. That kid is the best wing prospect in at least a decade and Ayton is the best bigman prospect since Greg Oden, who would have been an incredible player if his knees weren't busted. This is the easiest slam dunk decision in the whole draft. If Doncic goes #1 we get Ayton. If Ayton goes #1 we get Doncic. Either way I'm sprinting to the podium with that pick. You can mess around trying to find the next Donovan Mitchell if you want but I'm taking the 6'8" teenager who is out there right now dominating grown men like the second coming of Pistol Pete or the monster 7 footer who's built life a Greek God and can shoot, handle the ball, and pull-up and shoot fadeaways like a guard. This is the easiest draft position ever. Phoenix is literally going to make our decision for us and I'm cool with that because I love both of these guys. Don't overcomplicate things. This is the best possible outcome for us. Phoenix gets all the pressure of history on their shoulders and we get a franchise changing talent no matter what.

If the Kings get Ayton, I'd ship Willie to the first team that offers a bag of chips. I hate the prospect of giving him a big contract. Reminds me of a dude who go Jerome James and just mentally check the hell out (but not get fat, I don't think Willie could ever get fat)
He can definitely proceed to go down a career path along another former King, Mikki Moore

“I’m not afraid to throw my opinion over there and to have an opinion. That’s my job,” he added. “I’ve got to be very cautious to have a strong opinion to demand. I’m not a guy who demands because if I don’t have a complete picture of the whole draft, it’s hard for me to give my voice and force for us to take Luka, even though he’s a diamond, he’s (a) really special kid. We have to compare Luka with other guys and see what’s best for the team.” (Kokoskov)

So Ayton is a better big man prospect than KAT or Embiid or Cousins?

Considering he's been cleared for action and the big marketing push the team is putting behind him (the Sacramento Summer League thing for one), how is this an argument?

2019 draft is not shaping up to be all that good. The number 2 pick this year (hell, the number 5/6 pick this year) is probably better than any package of picks we could wind up with for 2019
Let's say you're right. Trading down for an asset (either a pick next season or a current player) while still getting a player you covet within the top 10 isn't a bad thing at all.

It comes down to what you value more Ayton or Doncic versus a player in the 4-10 range and whatever other asset(s) you could net in return.

Whichever guy we get we get a player who can define the teams play style moving forward. We draft Doncic? We all of a sudden have three very good playmakers in Doncic, Bogi, Fox, team can play euro sytle system based on ball screens, passing and movement. Draft Ayton? Team gets a physically dominant big man with exceptional skill to go with it. Bogi/Buddy will get tons of easy looks from the gravity Ayton would command. The Kings were dealt the easiest job in the 2018 draft. Now Vlade and co. get to work on planning how the roster will look like in the Fall.

The thing for me if we have a chance at franchise potential we take it. We have youth and depth now we a superstar.

As a pure prospect? Yes.

His athletic peripherals are insane (higher vertical than 99.9% of the guards in the league). He's like the second coming of David Robinson except in a modern NBA where bigs are allowed to play on the perimeter more. Aside from some defensive concerns (and we have the defensive coach who turned Marc Gasol into one of the best defenders in the league running the team), he's about as much of a sure thing as they come.

I don't know about you, but when I watched Embiid at Kansas, I was convinced he would be a franchise big, potential HOF player barring injuries. I was touting his horn all season long and I still think he will be the best big of this generation.

It's like saying "What do you value more- the chance to get Kevin Durant or the chance to draft Brook Lopez next year and a vet?"

The 1-2 in this draft is perhaps the strongest since the Oden-Durant-Horford draft (complete with game changing big/game changing wing/future HOFer glue big parallels) except this time the big man is even more of a freak than the last time and not made of glass.

As an athlete, Ayton is ahead of him. Also doesn't have the major (and thus far warranted) injury concerns that Embiid had as a prospect.

Well, if you feel that strongly about Ayton and/or Doncic then I certainly understand your POV.

I'm not necessarily saying I disagree with you. However, having said that, I think it's hyperbole at this point to compare either of them to a Kevin Durant. Furthermore, neither you or I know whether or not the player they'd get at 4 - 10 (e.g. Jaren Jackson) would be an equally impactful player. He very well could be.

This draft is rich with talent to the point that a team like the Kings could really parlay a lot out of their #2 pick. That's all I'm saying.

But if Vlade and the rest of the front office believe like you do that Ayton and/or Doncic will be a franchise level player like a Kevin Durant, then by all means they should take that player. No argument from me there.

Intelligent footwork is one thing that I look for. Goes to show that they care about developing skills

I agree. If the Kings front office feel the player that drops to them is a franchise talent, they should absolutely take him. But if they aren't convinced of that, trading down is a very viable option.

Insight? I've yet to see any. People are replying to you? No, they're pointing out the insanity of your comments.

Have fun? Oh hell yes. We've waited a very long time for this...and fought with each other tooth and nail over how to accomplish it. That ended today. We can all look forward to something great - and it's been a long time coming.

Slightly O/T - I'm sure glad I've already got my tickets reserved for opening night. One of the benefits of being a group leader. We stuck it out through the lean years and now it's gonna be fun again. Yes, VF21 is totally and completely hyped.
Luka isn't slow laterally? That's insight bossman. There are much better prospects at #2. Luka is not a top 2 prospect in my trolling opinion.
