AND don't forget the rookie we were most excited about before all this, Malachi, is on the bench with a hammy.

Out of seemingly nowhere this is shaping up to be a very intriguing young roster.
Malachi at the wing
Hield of Dreams at the other wing
Skal at 4
WCS at 5
And any number of pg options including Tyreke...
That is, if last night wasn't a fluke, a pretty good 2 way roster, with very good defensive mobility, with quite a bit of potential.
Random thought: would love to see Skal develop a 3 pt shot.

Collison was a rookie when he played for the New Orleans Hornets, they were not the Pelicans back then. I believe it was the same year Tyreke was Drafted 2009-2010 season. Collison should defer, he is more a scorer than a facilitator and play maker. That is why he came off the bench for a myriad of successful teams.
I don't know if anyone missed me (except for the old folks 
) but a month ago I erased the Kings from my mind. I didn't even know when they were playing. I didn't come to the forum. The trade of Boogie didn't even make my heart beat faster. I didn't care except we could have gotten more in return. Last night I ran across the Kings game and we had a big lead. THAT caught my attention.
One game proves nothing except for one thing so says the sage. All of these young guys looked like they belonged. We have suffered through 4 years of McBen and he has finally caught on to the NBA game and how to calm his inner devils. I'm getting ahead of myself. I am sorry for Malachi's injury but it will heal just fine. Malachi came out and looked like he belonged. That was a ray of hope on that trade. He pulled the bench splinters out of his rear and showed us what he had learned or even that he already knew.
Last night we had a bunch of youngsters who looked like they belonged. Skal fit in fairly well and way better than I expected. Ben is keeping on keeping on and looks like an NBA player. WCS has used that intelligence and improved. I suspect also he is not looking over his shoulder to keep out of Boogie's way. I don't know. Buddy looked fine. Surprise, surprise. Tyreke is back but needs to play limited minutes. Our goal with him is to keep him healthy. He'll take care of the on the court stuff on his own.
The bottom line is that all the players looked like they belonged on an NBA court even at their age. I am not going to cheer depending on where we stand in the draft. The last draft showed that although position in the draft is important, a little luck is important also. I have already seen a team in the making. We will get a couple new guys next year (one good draft pick at the minimum and Bogdan). We will have oodles of cap space and, who knows, maybe we will get a star with that cash. At the best we will get two high draft picks and perhaps the ping pong balls will get us a starting STAR pg. In any case, I like youthful enthusiasm. I like confident youthful enthusiasm. I'm back watching the Kings.

I remember when the people who were open to a Cousins trade justified it by saying they want a young team of hardworkers and high character over the constant drama that came with Cousins surrounded by vets. We were ridiculed on here and now after one game 95% of the fans here are back on board with the young, high character, hard working team. Ultimately this is entertainment for us and i'd much rather have a group of fun Kings learning, ,having fun and clawing their way to relevancy over all the BS that came with a Cousins led team. No worrying about how this coach meshes with Demarcus, this player doesn't fit with Demarcus, stupid refs screwing Demarcus, whining, moping, bad body language, all gone and we are left with some nice young pieces and some solid vets to mentor them. Yesterday and the Boston game was the most fun I have had and the most entertained I have been watching a Kings game, probably since Ron Artest was here.
I was planning on protesting and not watching anymore games for a few weeks or so. I love this team though and I love watching Kings basketball. I feel bad for those people that chose to skip last nights match up. It was a really, really fun game to watch! Probably the most fun i've had watching a game all year.

Make no mistake, one awesome and much needed game doesn't erase the stupidity of this FO, nor does it erase the fact that we probably aren't going to win many games the rest of the season. Nor does it erase the fact that we got hosed in the Boogie trade. But last night was a great snap-shot of what could be with some of these young guys: Buddy, WCS and Skal in particular looked like future building blocks.
It took all of one game hopefully for Kings fans to realize how different a player Buddy is than a guy like Ben or even Stauskas. Had several moves to create off his own bounce and can take (and make) any shot on the floor. His quick release makes him special and I'm looking forward to seeing him as a featured piece in the offense.
WCS and his quickness was on full display last night. He just made Jokic, who's basically risen to one of the best players in the NBA this season, like an absolute fool because he couldn't handle the quickness of WCS. He's not all of a sudden a 29 PPG scorer, but I think we're going to be seeing this a lot more; Bigs struggling to stay in front of him and keep him away from the rim.

Collison said as much in his postgame comments. He said the win was great, but let's see how they react to adversity when the game gets tight and they don't have a superstar to turn to.
The odd thing is that against the Celtics and Nuggets they never let the runs get out of hand. When the Nuggets got to within 9 I thought, "oh, oh. Well that was fun while it lasted," only to have the Kings rebuild the lead back to 16 or so.
I imagine a few valleys and peaks for the rest of the season, but that was a fun and heartening game to watch. I think Kings fans were so low after the DMC trade that this game felt like the sun coming out after a long Alaskan winter. It was a nice sun, a spectacular blue sky day, but it felt even more magnificent because we were just in the darkness.

Charlotte Hornets game plan vs the Kings:
They are a deep team full of talented players who are capable of stepping up. We can't focus our attention on one player anymore so our best bet is to just hope for the best but expect the worst. This team has the potential to make it to the NBA finals. I would like to make a recommendation to the Hornets management and i suggest we forfeit tomorrow's game to save us from the inevitable humiliation.
Also I would like to recommend a trade during the off season. I propose we trade Kemba Walker for Darren collison and a beer at the G1C.
For me personally I'm excited because it's a fresh start. It might be a start from the bottom, we might lose but at least we are starting over. As some have said, it's no longer about fighting over whether to trade Cousins or not, or fighting about Cousins feud with the media etc. We lost a star player but it seems we have a young core team that likes playing together and works hard. Did you see all the diving to the floor? We might not see many wins anytime soon but with a good coach in place and seemingly likeable guys I am very hopeful for the future.
