Yikes...

Alleged video of Lawson at a club prior to the missed flight.
Yeah, I had already seen that video on twitter. In one respect, being a bad influence on young players is leaping out at me. On the other hand, I'm not so stupid as to believe young NBA players don't go out and have a good time. Fact is, both Willie and Ben made the plane. Lawson didn't. Video does give me a bad vibe though.

Everyone gets a trophy.....

People get offended or their feelings hurt easily.....

Be tolerant of everything.....

Be careful, you may get that old man yells out cloud meme.
Just expressing my opinion! We all have to tiptoe around these days for fear of upsetting people unintentionally and it's reached a rather high level, at least in the region where I live. And I didn't relate to what I said to Lawson at all. If you're wrong, admit it, move on, and so forth.

In regards to Lawson, I'm still hoping for a legit excuse. Just waiting for the official story.

Given his history, certainly makes me (and probably most of us) a bit uncomfortable too. I am surprised it hasn't been addressed by the Kings yet, as it seems that this story has really started garnering some attention.

Lawson stays for now according to Ham. Obviously could mean he stays for now and is let go on cut day. Who knows. Says Kings were content with his reason.

Dave Joerger says there is a lot of incorrect information out there regarding Ty Lawson. Wouldn't clarify, says it's a personal issueOct 17, 2016, 1:55 PM

Coach is behind Lawson apparently, all we know right now is Lawson was at a club in Las Vegas along with other teammates.
Well, if there's a lot of incorrect information, then give us the correct information. This is what happens when the truth isn't forthcoming. This is what's been wrong with the Kings organization for years now. We don't get the facts up front and are left to speculate on our own. Which is why there's a lot of misinformation out there. We all want to believe in the Kings, and then they give us this BS. Sorry, but I'm getting a little tired of this crap.

The plot thickens. Lawson was out with Adrien Broner (professioanal boxer) that night, one day after his suicide scare. Maybe Ty requested time off to stay with his suicidal friend, who knows
He was apparently hacked, but he allegedly put his hands on a waitress not a week later, so theres that. At the same time I don't know if they are friends or is it "hey we're both pro athletes at the same club, lets party together". Whatever it is Joerger is satisfied with Ty and wants him on roster, thats worth more than any speculation.

I think if it is something to do with family and player wants it to be kept confidential, the player and team have that right. At same time if my family/close ones were having issues I wouldn't be at a club.

We have to trust the coach and GM to make the right decisions for the team that being said a guy with a history of alcohol abuse in a club and then missing a plane the next day is just not a good look

There are a lot of stories out there on this right now, so I am not sure what is true or hearsay at this point, but Lawson's agent said the Kings were well aware he was going to miss the flight and had given him permission to do so. I think someone gave a link to this a few posts ago. Definitely makes it look and feel a lot better.

Here is a link to Joerger's interview today during which I believe was after practice. If you want to watch reporters repeatedly try and get information out of him about Lawson you can find it there. He just keeps saying it was a person issue and responded with "why wouldn't he be" on the team opening night when a reported asked him if there was any doubt he would be.

Baja, I think the issue here is the expectation of information. If this story happened 20 years ago we probably would have got the news that Lawson missed his flight last night or maybe this morning and then read an article about the resolution on Wednesday.

Our patience for news cycles has become minimal as news sources have fought to be the first with every bit of information. Depending on the situation maybe we as fans don't need to know the details, only the outcome. But we're not really satisfied with that anymore.

And believe me, I'm guilty of the same thing. It's become the new normal.

In which case you have to trust Joerger to have a little better intel on that then Stein.

Some how part of my post got lost. My point is when a guy with a history of alcohol abuse is in a club and then misses a flight it looks bad... none of us know what was known by whom at what time on this and I have to trust Vlade and Dave, but it looks bad.

Fans who jumped to conclusion to assume the worst look silly now, i.e. 90% of Sactown Royalty wanted him waived and checked into alcohol rehab yesterday.

I think the personal issue was the troubled friend who needed emotional support. Now is it possible the guy went on a bender and the Kings are covering for him so they don't get backlash? Yeah I guess thats possible, but I'll give Ty and the organization the benefit of the doubt for now.

This is good news because I am not about to root for Jordan Farmer!

I don't think they are obligated to disclose personal details, do you?

You give this guy the benefit of the doubt....that's fine but you are the most critical guy of Boogie. Oh...ok.

Who cares? Why does something "having a bad look" according to someone's personal opinion have to be a big deal? Why do fans have to be so invested in the behind the scenes drama that goes on in an athletes or entertainers life?

The guy missed a flight. For reasons we don't really know. Whatever the deal is or was should really only concern the Kings front office.

If I'm late to work or miss it entirely, only my employer has cause for concern.

I don't get it.

If Lawson was trying to help a friend and lift his spirits then I am okay with him missing the flight. There is a good chance that he and Broner were hanging out and doing some soul searching about life and he over slept the next day.

A friends well being and health should always take precedent over work, always and forever.

Well when my doctor looks at blood work and says it does not look good I take it pretty seriously...

What I primarily got out of Joerger's mostly non-answers to the local media was that he was texting back and forth with Lawson before the flight and that he has input (and is possibly the decision maker) on the final roster cuts.

And Joerger says he sees no reason why Lawson won't be on the opening day roster.

We may get the full details at some point and we may not but while I have some curiosity about this incident the reality is that as a fan I've gotten the info I really want/need.

The truth is that if the Kings really knew before the flight that he wasn't going to be on it, then this was a non story from the beginning.

I wouldn't feel comfortable if the organization is bending the culture to let this slide.. What message would that send a pro like Farmar who has been a citizen or the rest of the team, and how would you not worry this would happen any given night? Hopefully it is explainable, but that's looming iffy

If they are giving Lawson a second chance it would also speak to the talent difference and capabilities they see in him as opposed to Farmar.. I haven't been able to see Lawson live yet.. I've thought Farmar has looked decent, but maybe they see Lawson as a difference maker

Let what exactly slide?

I think we all need to keep in mind here that there haven't been any credible accusations that Lawson's absence from the flight had anything to do with his previous struggles with alcohol.

Stein threw out the information that Lawson missed the flight and - Bam! - like red meat to wolves the fanbase immediately jumped on "he got too drunk to make the plane" with literally no evidence.

TMZ later comes up with video of Lawson at a club the night before - to the best of my ability to tell, not drinking.

Joerger calls it a personal issue and specifically denies a "relapse". Divac calls it a personal issue and not related to drinking. Lawson has not been kicked off the team and according to Vlade will not be suspended for missing the flight.

So basically right now, Lawson is being tried and convicted by the fans on the basis of third-hand circumstantial evidence in the face of team refutations. I will say that I was not a fan of the Lawson signing, largely based on his previous alcohol problems and other character issues. But proclaiming him guilty when we literally know nothing about the incident is a bridge too far for me.
