Wow... the madness never ends does it. I'll reserve final thoughts until more details come out, but this is a darn shame. I'd never imagine Darren would be the guy to get arrested for this.

so far you, me, and ..... I guess that's about it. Yeah pretty much everybody else in the twitter universe is busy making sure they are first and loudest with their outrage. amazing rush to judgement on this one - maybe we should wait and learn what happened first.
I'm hoping (for multiple reasons) this has a Bruce Miller-like result, where the cops were called and he was arrested but in the end all he did was broke her cell phone and no physical harm was actually done.

The charges that were filed are not for breaking a cell phone.

273.5. (a) Any person who willfully inflicts corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition upon a victim described in subdivision (b) is guilty of a felony, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years, or in a county jail for not more than one year, or by a fine of up to six thousand dollars ($6,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment.

(b) Subdivision (a) shall apply if the victim is or was one or
more of the following:

(1) The offender’s spouse or former spouse.

(2) The offender’s cohabitant or former cohabitant.

(3) The offender’s fiancé or fiancée, or someone with whom the offender has, or previously had, an engagement or dating relationship, as defined in paragraph (10) of subdivision (f) of Section 243.

(4) The mother or father of the offender’s child.

Obviously not. You misunderstood my point.

My Bruce Miller example is this - He was arrested for domestic violence, just like Darren Collison was. I'm sure it was probably the same charge. Once details came out and the investigation was complete, it turns out there wasnt any voilence at all, and it was just destruction of property (a cell phone).

So, obviously Darren was arrested for domestic violence. But my hope is that it is a mistake, and after the investigation has concluded, it was a misunderstanding and blown out of proportion.

We don't have the evidence yet, so all I can do is hope rather than immediately jump to the worst conclusion.

This is sad to hear. Obviously,my prayers are with all involved. I hope this turns out to be emotions running high and no physical harm done. If it turns out that Darren assaulted his lady then I hope he gets suspended. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Period. I'd say the same if he was a dreaded Laker or a celebrated King.

This is bad in a lot of ways but from a team perspective it has the potential to be VERY damaging. Our entire offseason plan might need to be scraped because of this!

I'm really sorry to hear this also. Hopefully this is an isolated incident. The driving on a suspended licence doesn't help the situation much either. I hope this is not as bad as it looks. I wish the best for his family.

Damn DC, why would you do that to your wife? I won't rush into judgement, but it just doesn't look good.

Speaking from the NBA P.O.V, how long would he get suspended if the process goes through?

Given what has happend with athletes and domestic violence over the past few years a guilty verdict might result in a massive suspension with the NBA making an example out of DC after the NFL dropped the ball with its cases. Their was no guilty verdict in either of the high profile domestic abuse cases (Hardy,Ray Rice) and those guys still took a ton of heat, Rice never got another job.

i have his mugshot. Not sure what the rules are on posting that kind of stuff.
My thought? This isn't TMC. We have no idea what actually happened. I would really ask everyone to err on the side of caution. So far, I'm very proud of our board for not acting like so many of the jerks on Twitter. Just use common sense, please, and remember he is innocent until proven guilty. Being arrested isn't the same as being convicted.

Having said that, it's within board parameters to discuss the potential this might have on the team, possible suspensions, etc.

Agreed.

The description of corporal punishment is sort of vague too. I can imagine all sorts of scenarios of varying degrees, which all would be bad, but some a million times worse.

In absolute shock.....like PurpleHaze said, I wonder what the driver's license thing is about too
If the suspended license is from misdemeanor warrants, it is probably something like tickets where he failed to pay or show up in court resulting in a bench warrant. In any case small potatoes next to the domestic violence charge...
