The "DeMarcus is fat" obsession is one of the weirdest things I've seen a journalist attach on to. She's welcome to her mostly wrong opinion, but I have no idea how she can continuously call him fat and out of shape the past 2 seasons if she's watched more than 15 minutes of Kings games
Something has kept Cuz from moving up court with any speed or ease. It has to be something. Tiredness, conditioning, bad feet, distraction. So their is room for choosing "fat"/too heavy/ out of shape". Who knows what combination of factors it is. Bottom line, he needs wth help to mprove his ability to get back on defense or make it into the offensive set faster. Maybe Voison is wrong in choosing "fat" but it s ".something". I'm looking forward to the coming season when I expect Cuz to make improvements so he's in the game a higher percentage of the time.

it has to be something? yeah, how about the fact that demarcus is 6'11", 270 lbs, and built like a brick sh*thouse...

look, this is not complicated at all: last season, the kings played at the fastest pace in the entire nba. of course a player of demarcus' size is going to struggle to get "up the court with any speed or ease," regardless of his level of conditioning. it's also hardly a surprise that big cuz was hampered by foot problems as the season wore on, and it's one of the many reasons that i insisted from the outset that george karl was an improper fit with this franchise, because he was going to run the kings' franchise player into the ground...

it's beyond foolish to risk injury to a player of cousins' body type by placing him at the center of a goddamned track meet. dave joerger has already said that he'd like to play a bit of uptempo basketball here in sacramento, but as someone who coached a memphis frontline that featured the hefty and slow-footed duo of zach randolph and marc gasol, surely he'll recognize the need to modulate that pace to keep his new all-star center from wearing down...

Boogie has said that he has had pain in his feet all year. This is no secret. Ignore what he says if you wish because apparently some media people don't believe him either.

He's just a big ass dude. Big ass dudes aren't supposed to move quickly up the court. His quickness for his size is one of the things that makes him so great in the first place.

One thing I've loved about DJ comments thus far when asked about what sort of system he wants to run is basically "I don't know, we're going to have to wait to see what kind of personal we have."

Awesome. It confirms our belief that he's a guy who's going to take what he has and build a system around it, unlike what Karl did in the opposite.

It's supportive to see tha nobody so far has disagreed hat Cuz is slow up and down the court. I would add too slow and often. He needs to do better and I think Vlade and Dave see a way to improve on this problem. The proble isn't with me or Grant or Ailene, it's with Cuz. Because Divak is optimistic, I'm optimistic.

You aren't going to even acknowledge that he suffered from foot problems ALL FREAKING YEAR? I'm sorry, and I don't mean to be disrespectful, but that's my main complain about Grant ... and Ailene ... and anyone else who takes portions of facts out of context to meet their own agenda.

They said the same about Kareem (if Airplane is historically accurate as I assume it is)

Shaq was usually the last one back on defense as well.
So is Drummond or Brook Lopez. That's the achilles heel of an offensive system, that has a strong and heavy big guy as the focal point.
No matter what Boogie does he won't magically turn into Mason Plumlee or DeAndre Jordan. Apparantly Voison has a crush for those uber athletic bigs.

These are some of the offensive sets that we will see next season I would expect quite a lot of action with Cousins at the elbow.

This offense works well for a team with 2 strong post players, with one of them being an excellent passer/decision maker. Plus guards who finish well at the hole. Not sure this fits our current roster. Offense or roster would have to be tweaked. Or Rudy will be playing the 4 again.

Based on that I think he can revive Marco and Gay, especially if we had Ryan Anderson.
Not even knowing anything about Memphis, I have been hoping coach can revive Rudy and Marco. Seems like it wouldn't take much to improve Marco and I honestly think Rudy didn't have a very well defined roll - including the bait and switch on losing his coach which undoubtedly left a bad taste in his mouth. Joerger is the second coming, and more skilled, version of Malone.

And for the record. The Kings just hired a young, smart basketball mind who CHOSE TO COME TO SACRAMENTO ON THE FIRST THING SMOKING. So, your loyal all star wants to be here. You brought in one of the NBAs globally proclaimed ambassadors who also, wants to be here (Vlade, pronounced like 'Blade' for you youngins'). You have on board one of the best to ever come across the pond to play (Peja), on board, who (say it with me now) wants to be here. An owner (mistakes made and learned from) who bought the team to keep it here because (wow, narrative) wants tl be here. Players who signed to come in because of the 'acting GM' and that all things considered (Casspi, Koufous, Bellineli) want to be here. And yet some of you still try to find a way to get rid of the talent that WANTS TO BE HERE. HERE. Small market here. Not LA, here. Fyi, the Lakers are chomping at the bit to take Cousins from our previously disfunctional selves so they can usher in their new era. Get it? New Era.

Thankfully, Vlade seems commited to figuring out this mess Ze Gerbil handed him. Dont forget Water-Mullin and his crappy advice...

I personally still think Aileen Dover and Took A Dump And Called It An Article is smarting from us not taking Rubio but whatever.
Joerger could have got a better deal, had he waited longer, but no hesitation, THAT'S A MAN ON A MISSION.

He might have set his sight at the prospect of coaching Boogie/WCS duo someday, watching them battle his frontline last season, being in the hot seat in Memphis. Perhaps, he sees he can set the record straight on his unfinished business on the offensive side of the court with this duo in Sacramento as well.

I'm not worried about Joerger and Boogie's relationship, the bond between them doesn't even have to be close to the bond between Boogie and Malone had. All I care is Joerger's defense and offensive scheme would work without any complications, each player's commitment to the defense is must, but he's the expert and proven one, then I'm sure Boogie will go to war with him.

According to guys on realgm Joerger was on Rome and it seems from tht like Rondo won't be back and thy he wants Ben to play next year. Probably means we are sw
We have not seen much offense from WCS but we have seen some. He has good form on his shot, has shown a sweet little jump hook shot and from the high post is only a couple large steps from the hoop.
If that old fool played him from the start we'd have seen more.

If we had played him we would have found out that the form on his shot, his sweet little hook shot, etc. wasn't hardly as important as his defensive ability on bigs and out beyond the three point line.

I think Joerger meister might utilize WCS in that Gasol high elbow fashion. The rook showed an uncanny ability to play at the NBA speed as well as see the floor and crash from any spot 18 feet out. .
I personally think he will try use him like he wanted with Brandon Wright (kept getting banged up) and that's bring WCS off the bench as the C to catch lobs mainly and protect the rim.

It's rumored that Joerger wanted to play faster and change the offense, but Gasol and Co. didn't want to. It'll be interesting to see what type of offense he brings.

WCS in the high post doesn't make much sense to me. at all He's not a good passer, nor is he a threat from more than 5ft out. High-low post game wouldn't work with Cousins-WCS. I just can't see it... it's not a knock to WCS, but he's so limited on offense that I just don't see it working.
I agree WCS is a good instinct passer (in transition and cutting to the rim) but I'm not sure he's as good if you give it to him and expect him to make a play from the high post.
