Awwwww, I can hear poor little sour dumbass hearts breaking all over the valley.

Its a sweet sound.

You do not trade your franchise big man.

You do NOT trade your franchise big man.

YOU DO NOT TRADE YOUR FRANCHISE BIG MAN!

Fortunately we have Vlade. I don't have to shout at him.
I know of at least two members of the local media who are going to need to find something/someone else to harp about.

I'm all in. Please DMC, make me feel like a moron for even entertaining the idea of using you to go in another direction. I will happily wear the dunce cap if it means I can be a happy Kings fan again.

Nah, no need for a dunce cap. It'll be nice to have happy Kings fans again. :)

His comments are not surprising, but it doesn't mean that we won't consider trading Cousins before or during the 2017-18 season if things aren't heading in the right direction or there is a general feeling that Cousins wants out. We have up to two years to win with Cousins and do enough to persuade him that his long term future is here in Sacramento because he can walk away in 2018 as an unrestricted free agent. So right now we are going to try and build around him and help this team win, and fingers crossed, Vlade and Dave can help us do that. That's what we all want as Kings fans - this team winning with Cousins at the center of it all. However, the commitment to Cousins right now is because he gives us the best chance to win. Fast forward to next off season, or the build up to the trade deadline in 2017-18, and that commitment will be tested when teams start to pick up the phone and offer us deals to trade Cousins.

I had this hideous thought that I kept to myself that the first words out of our coach's mouth would be " I just want it be known that everyone is tradable." Good pre-emptive strike, Vlade.

It wouldn't surprise me if Vlade chooses Joerger over Cuz.

What WOULD surprise me is if it actually comes to that, given the things Joerger was saying during the presser.

Of course he could have been playing lip service, but I'm not cynical enough (at least today) to just up and assume our new HC was BSing out there.

He seems like another straight shooter. That's all Cuz needs. Well, that and winning. I think Joerger can get us that too.

Way excited for next season. #samepage!

I agree.

I like the pecking order:
Vlade > Joerger > Cuz > everybody else

In-R-Out time :)

I'd like to know who asked the question. However Vlade's response was expected. Joerger may the coach that helps Cuz become the best he can be, to quote an old phrase. We shall see. Good start to their relationship and hopefully just the beginning of a long and happy one.

Vlade has confidence that Joerger can get Cuz past his serious shortcomings and that is heartening. I say this because I'm sure Vlade had to feel satisfied that things could get better under Joerger. Come on now Cuz, get with it.

Apparently, Vlade was not listening. Read the presser. He's not dogmatic on not trading Cousins.

All of this sounds correct built upon a minimum of knowledge and a lot of wishful thinking. ;) Be still my beating heart.

Although Sean Cunningham didn't answer me when I asked him that exact question, I'll hazard a semi-educated guess that it was either Ailene Voisin or Andy Furillo. ;)

I think Joerger shares that same confidence.

Like this was actually going to break any other way.

We all knew that we'd keep boogie this season and the long term view is still very much that he will take us to the promised land.

Trading him was never realistically entertained by our FO thankfully. Sense has prevailed.

The way I look at what Vlade said (not trading Cuz this year) is that this year is also a test for Cousins to change his attitude and outlook.
I look at what Vlade said as only what he said. I'm not going to make up anything. This team has not had a positive group of players in 10 years. They have only had one good coach in 10 years. How many of you, assuming you are a great athlete, would stay with a team for 6 years, losing badly every year, without once bringing up the idea that you wanted to leave for greener pastures? I sure as hell would want to leave.

I agree and I'm not advocating to trade Cousins but he had issues with George Karl and warranted or not he did not handle it professionally at times and was suspended by Vlade for it. Vlade sent a message that no player, not even Cousins, can pull that type of crap anymore. Those days are gone. As sick of losing as I am, a lack of professionalism is even worse for me. I would for example, lose my job 100 times over if I behaved like Cousins for a single day.

yeah, this year....I can see that. Give him and Dave a chance to get on the right track, if Boogie doesn't comply, time to move him. I don't see why he wouldn't get along with him, he is a straight shooter, loyal and honest, just like Boogie. They are a perfect fit. If Dave can coach Zach, he can coach Boogie, However, he has to allow himself to be coached.

Its simple, this is it for Demarcus. Joeger will not be the one fired if "its not working". I hope this comes through loud and clear to Demarcus. This will either work or he will be the first one moved.

Vlade is NOT going to broadcast his intention to trade Boogie to the NBA because he would lose his leverage. C'mon let's not be naive. You don't win at poker by showing your hand.

The question was put to Joerger "How are you going to coach Cousins?" and it was a ringing non-endorsement of said player. Paraphrasing Joerger said: "The roster is in flux and.... we are going to try to get the best players we can and go from there....I am excited I think Willie is a tremendous talent...."

Now let's breakdown this Q & A and read between the lines. Joerger was asked point blank about Boogie and the first player he mentions is WCS!!! If that does not give you a hint of the thought process and sentiment behind the scenes I don't know what does.

Joerger went onto say "I am going to talk to DeMarcus in a little bit" almost as afterthought, but nowhere in his response did he say anything resemble a commitment or endorsement along the lines of "Boogie is the best big man in NBA and I respect his game and talent and I cannot wait to help him become more dominant as we build around him...".

If anything the tone was "get on board or get out". It was an implicit ultimatum of sorts to Boogie and every player on the roster. But there is a long time between now and the first game of the season, The roster is going to look a lot different then and whether Boogie will still be around is far from conclusive.
