I won't claim to know what Vlade's plan was through this whole thing or if he knew Joerger was going to be available, but he was sure prepared when DJ hit the market. I guess maybe he had some idea what he was doing after all.

If there's a concern, it would be on whether or not Joerger (man, can't wait to see how people misspell that) will always be looking for greener pastures. But I'm not feeling that concern right now. If he does his job, and the FO does theirs, this has the potential to be a good long term hire.

Awesome hire Vlade!

Has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe Vivek was always meddling with PDA as GM because he thought PDA was incompetent and he thought he knew better than PDA?

Looks like Vivek respects Vlade's "know how" and "knowledge" and has stepped out of the picture and has let Vlade have full run of the Kings.

So, let's give Vivek some credit for entrusting the Kings to Vlade and getting out of his way! :D

Joerger found the greener pastures, at least as far as salary is concerned.

Yes, that is a small concern. But you would hope that a lot of Joerger wanting to leave is because of Robert Pera. He supposedly wanted Joerger to wear a headset during games so he can talk to him and also wanted to play Tony Allen 1 on 1. You can be certain that there were more crazy things like this from Pera's part.

Joerger probably thinks Vivek is a rookie compared to Pera.

Joerger wanted to coach the Kings so badly because he knows exactly what this roster can do and he knows exactly how to get there.
Heck yeah.

Our front-court is gonna be SAVAGE with Joerger at the helm. Vlade has some work to do with our guard situation, but I trust the guy to get it right.

I love that we have a defensive minded coach again. NBA 3.0? More like Grindhouse 3.0!

From what I can gather, this was Joerger's first choice of available jobs. Not his only choice. No desperation. Not hoping to get a shot. No looking for one more chance before riding into the sunset. Wants to be in Sac.

He's stubborn, passionate, tells it exactly how he see's it and is not able to play politics or suffer through people doing their job poorly. That sounds just like someone Cousins would get along with. It remains to be seen, but I think it will be a good pairing.

I have to admit I am excited, it's too bad its only May! However, we can finally go through the draft with a coach that will be here for a while, free agents now know we have settled down (new coach, new arena, new GM, new philosophy), and we still have Cousins, a superstar that can't be overlooked.

Small market or not, we suddenly have a lot going for us. I for one look forward to this summer. We have a lot of gaps to fill (SG please!!), but with Mr. Joerger, I feel more confident already.

How long has it been since a front office and coach were on the same page for a draft? I mean even last year it was tough to go wrong with all the good players available. This draft will be more of a job though.

Given how fast this came about , this hiring must have been in the works for a while .
Another shrewd move by Vlade was not having to give up a draft pick(s) to get Joerger.

Vlade had asked for permission to discuss the job with Joerger and he would have had to give Memphis a 2nd round pick or more to sign away Joerger.

But, Vlade was patient and waited and Memphis flinched first.

Memphis panicked and couldn't wait for the two teams to come to an agreement on compensation for the head coach. Memphis got scared that a potential coach they wanted would be off the market if they waited to come to an agreement with the Kings and Memphis flinched first and fired Joerger.

Thus, saving Vlade and the Kings a draft pick(s).

NEVER PLAY POKER WITH VLADE, MY FRIENDS!

I think it was a good hire just don't really know about the fit. My first thought is how does Cousins get along with him
Well if he is coach we think he is, doesn't really matter about Cuz: he's either in or out and its up to Cousins to finally become a real All-Star and act like it on the court. Coach has worked with Marc Gasol for few years getting to Playoffs and Cuz is much better athlete in the same position.
