[Game] Kings @ Suns (Pre-Season) Game Discussion

As bad as Omri was in first half. I'd rather have him on floor than butler. Caron maybe a good locker room presence but he is a bad floor presence at the moment
Disagree. Omri was extremely bad. Very indecisive with the ball and kept trying to drive into traffic. At least Butler spaces the floor out a bit. I cringe every time Casspi starts dribbling the ball now...his handling was Ben bad..

Lots and lots of good to take from this game. And some areas where I fully expect the team to improve.

Nothing about tonight changed my feeling that (barring major injury issues) this is going to be a special year.

For a guy that complained about being out of a shape less than a week ago, WCS seemed like he played a ton tonight. And for a guy who looks so lanky, he also seems to get wherever he wants. Very active. Call me crazy but he reminds me of J. Noah

I don't see Ben making any jump this year. Hopefully his 3P % improves
He's not getting his opportunities. The Suns guarded him amazingly tonight...there's a reason for it too. NBA teams know that Ben is our only real 3pt shooter in our starting lineup. You take away Ben, and you take away the possibility of Cuz kicking it out to a 3pt shooter.

There's also a reason why Rudy made a lot of 3's..aside from being hot, they guarded him too loosely and dared him to take 3s. Not the same case with Ben.

We will continue to see this throughout the season..especially if Ben is our only real 3pt threat. This means more opportunities for Rudy though. At least we have 1 less player trying to guard Cuz.

Coach didn't draw up any plays for Ben...I'm dumbfounded on why..... this is the preseason..let Ben get his reps instead of Marco, Collison, and Butler who were all chucking the ball up.

At some point, the excuses for Ben will just have to stop. It's always either he didn't get any plays drawn up for him or he was guarded too well or something else...

We had a lot of hope for Ben. This might be the year when, despite his contract extension, we face the inevitable truth. He's not gonna live up to those expectations.

And now, having said that, I truly hope I am proven wrong. I would love to see the kid turn it on and have one helluva year.

Thanks for actually using some analysis. I didn't see the game so I checked in here to get updates. Hard to pick through the hyperbole and know what's really going on.

The main reason I don't see ben reaching his potential is because of his ball handling and fluidity. Its very unnatural and awkard watching his footwork and dribbling. Even when coming off screens his balance is almost always off. Its a huge liability for him. Id be extremely shocked if somehow that all disappears. 3 and D is all I expect now from him.

And no this is not a typical preseason overreaction. I can just tell

Well everyone and their mother knows Nelli is one of our few, if not only shooter on the floor and he has no problem getting shots off.

Here's the telling difference and problem for Ben. Despite whatever reasons you may come up with, his own teammates don't trust him. That comes from seeing him up close every day. They aren't looking for him. Karl's offense gives freedom to the PG's and neither are calling plays for him. As soon as Nelli walks on the floor, everyone looks for him. Why? Trust.

If you're essentially a spot up shooter who your teammates don't trust, you're not going very far. That's why I've been hoping to see Ben show more activity on the glass and on defense, and show a willingness to attack the paint, get to the rim/FT line. We've seen none of that through 2 games.

I'm not giving Ben an excuse...he really didn't have any plays drawn for him. How in the dang world did Ben get a total of 4 shot attempts when their rookie SG got 7??

What's Cousins' excuse for going 3-12? Or what pass does Omri get for being terrible? Collison too?

I'm not making excuses for Ben. I'm just telling it like how it is from what I saw in this game.

You can't claim that Ben won't make a jump this year through 2 preseason games. That's premature with absolutely 0 context provided..

Maybe if Cousins and Rudy doesn't ball hog the way they did, maybe Ben would get a few more touches? There's a lot of reasons why he looked ineffective today, and not all are on him.

He's not getting the ball at all. Can we at least agree on that?

How are we going to get the chance to see Ben attack the rim when you just claimed that his teammates and coach don't thirst him enough to give him the ball?

Ben had 4 Rebs tonight..not too terrible...considering our bigs were showing little ability to box out..

He also had 2stls. And 2 ft attempts.

Ben is not getting his opportunity.

Belinelli is getting all the looks because he plays on the bench with Collison.

He does not have to battle with Rudy and Cuz for the ball, unlike Ben.
