Kings free agency, part 3

Hall of Famer
I'd like to see us get a guy who can lockdown guards.....either it's Ben stepping up or Rondo reverting back to form or James Anderson filling that role but I don't believe he's that good defensively or maybe it's a Liggins. Maybe it's us trading Ray and waiving Stockton and/or Anderson to create room for another signing.

For once, we can run multiple guys out there in Cuz, WCS, and Koufos who can guard the paint....WCS potentially a guy that we can send after some 3's as well. Feels like we could use one more guard/wing shut down guy possibly.

Here's our current roster:

Rondo/Collison/McCallum/Stockton
McLemore/Belinelli/Anderson
Gay/Casspi
Kofus/WCS
Cousins/Moreland

Even with adding Casspi, I still feel like we need another wing. Here are ones still in the market:

1. Luc Mbah
2. Dorell Wright
3. KJ McDaniels

Luc is a great defensive player and he'd be good in tight situations in end of games. Wright on the other hand is a good 3pt shooter and brings vet experience to this team. I remember he was a great 3pt shooter on the Warriors years ago. KJ is a RFA, so he's highly unlikely, but is a great young player with tremendous upside. He's already a good defender. I wonder if Mbah or Wright could be had for less than $2million? Vet min?

I also think we're lacking another big man..while I like Moreland, I just don't fell comfortable with him as our 4th big. I hope we can add another big to this team. Here are a few solid bigs:

1. Cole Aldrich
2. Jeff Withey
3. Henry Sims
4. Andrea Bargnani

Aldrich and Withey could provide a few pts a game. All top 3 players are young and still talented.
I think the first 3 could be had for cheap. I wonder if Bargs would be willing to take 2-4 million to play with the Kings. If he's healthy, he's a great option. He could also play alongside Cuz for stretches of the game. Great floor spacer too.

Let's see what happens!

Moute does interest me. In the little time he was with us the season before last, we witnessed a small sample of the lock down defense that he's known for. Against Chris Paul.

He doesn't need a lot of minutes. Just an absolute defensive specialist for spot situations. He's a really good team/culture guy as well. Hmm

Talk about "shrewd". While everyone's speculating about Josh Smith,...sneak Luc in the back door

What happened with the Cowbell Kingdom podcast that mentioned Luc Mbah a Moute cashing in checks with us?

Do you have anything substantive to say that? I haven't heard sim being a hot topic in India or people dying to grab a VPN in order to watch him sit on a bench.
Well you have to ask Vivek why he keep signing him back and forth from the team and our D-League. I don't see any chance that the signing was on talent alone so I have to say it's for marketing considering they root from the same country #noracist.
Sim will not be a Vlade move just to keep it clear.
But if Vlade is to play diplomacy sort of guy, he'll give each party a favor. Sim would be, IMO, a desert that he can serve Vivek.
DMC got his WCS, Rudy got his Rondo, Rondo got his Marco, Karl got his Kosta, so what's left is desert for either Vlade or Vivek.

And I'm just guessing not pushing before you raise your forks and torches. LOL

I just looked at the Pistons cap info, wanted to get more info on the money Smith is still making from them after being waived. He'll get 5.4 mil/yr through the 2019-2020 season. He should have no problem with the 3 mil or so we have left, my money is on us trying to ink him to a deal.

Well you called him a marketing "machine," which implies that he's got a lot of success. I know Vivek is trying hard to push him down the throats of Indians, but I thought it was just him not understanding basketball (again). Your post made it seem like you had info as to how good Sim was in the marketing dept.

Can anyone update the cap situation? Also is Casspi taking the room exception 2.8 money?

Luc Bah would be nice and I sense Josh Smith is still in the mix for a one year deal.

I had the same thought. I actually like Williams and think he is a great value in this market at 3/21, but what the hell are the Lakers doing? They have three of the most shameless black hole chuckers in the league. They aren't going to be able to get Randle enough (any?) touches to develop. They could have drafted Okafor and paired him with Randle, but chose not to and patched their hole at center by absorbing the corpse of Roy Hibbert. They passed on Okafor to draft Russel, who just happens to play the same position as one of their two "coveted" young pieces. That piece, Clarkson, who is so valuable that fans wouldn't trade him for Cousins, is now buried behind Russel, Kobe, Lou, Young, and others in the backcourt. They got flat rejected by Lamarcus Aldridge because their free agent pitch was all about the city of LA, and not basketball. Oh, and they are unlikely to have a draft pick.

And WE are the dysfunctional team...
Nick Young is deep in the dog house and isn't going to play much, if at all, so there is one less mouth to feed.

Still has a lot of chuckers though.

Ever since I heard that podcast, mbah a moute hasn't even entered my mind as a player I would want coming to the Kings. We need players committed to playing in sac and giving it their all.
Whenever I watched LRMAM play here he played hard I don't care what the rumors were when I watched him he played in particular on D and cut without the ball harder than anyone on the team.
