Koufos to the Kings!

Wow! This is the best off season us Kings fans have had in a looooong time!

Rondo/Collison
BMac/Belenelli
Gay/Casspi
Cousins/Moreland/Evans
WCS/Koufos

fill out that squad with some other pickups and you are set!

That team has everything we Kings fans could ever dream of!!! A perimeter defender would have been nice....but driving guards are going to find a constant rotation of big defensive shot blockers when they arrive!

GOOD FREAKIN JOB VLADE!!! We all knew if one person could turn this all around it would be you!!!

It all looks good but, instead of Evans I would like another capable offensive threat in the frontcourt outside of cousins. If he misses another 15-20 games with that lineup we will be hurting for inside scoring.

I really don't see a need for another big man...I'm willing to give Moreland a chance here. I mean he is signed for the next two years so might as well see what he can do out there, when healthy of course.
Come on man....Moreland? He's a D-League guy type who looked good in summer league. That's a huge difference from a proven guy who's played on some really good NBA teams. I feel like Moreland is one of those Henry Turner type players. We all think he would be an All-Star if given a chance but it's highly unlikely.
This is a GREAT signing.

My dream team - for Kings lock-down D. Don't laugh it might work against some teams late in a game especially if WCS can actually guard all 5 positions against real NBA players.

PG: Rondo
SG: Casspi/BMac/Collison
C: Koufos
PF: Evans/Moreland
SF: WCS

This signing is for matchup flexibility and to add another big who can actually create offense by himself (not just the oopps and dunks). Right now only DMC can legitimately score down low. But adding Kosta changes that and make the rotation consistent. Moreland should still be able to get minutes especially against fast-paced team where we can only play 1 of DMC or Kosta. Moreland and WCS would still the "block-brothers", I'll stick with that.

Evans? He's not very good defending. Where is DMC? He's actually a good defender now.
Yeah, was thinking same that we'd need to hide Evans in that lineup or go with Cuz at PF - assuming he's not in foul trouble late;) Maybe Moreland will impress with his D this season to be option as stopper or another "Vlade special" big defender pickup.

I'm afraid we are under the bar when it comes to being able to sign josh. Beasley maybe
If we find someone with cap space to take on Ray McCallum's contract, we could have as much as 5.8 million in cap space left. We know Rondo got 9.5, Belinelli got 6, and Cauley-Stein's caphold is 2.8. Presumably Anderson got a minimum deal. Koufos's deal could start at around 7 million with raises each year equaling 33 million over 4 years.

I'm also thinking DeAndre Liggins might end up being our defensive stopper off the bench. He's another Kentucky guy, Cousins likes him. We'll see how he does in summer league.

So your telling me there is a chance for josh?

Rondo/Collison/McCallum
McLemore/Belinelli
Gay/Casspi
WCS/Moreland
DMC/Koufos

All we need to do is either (get an SF shooter reserve AND train Moreland to defend/close out on smallball stretch 4s) OR (acquire a defender of stretch 4s).

SF shooter would help but might not be absolute necessity - at least to start season. Moreland simply must prove he's good defender or won't last. I think WCS is answer to defending stretch 4s although as rook he might be bit of work in progress all around. The fact played 3 season at Kentucky is big plus in adjusting to NBA life faster than otherwise might be expected. Heck keep old man Andre Miller around and see if he can make it through to end of the season without getting waived and moved into coaching. He's already very valuable player-coach.

I think so. 5.8 million is basically a mid-level deal. It depends how desperate the teams with cap space remaining get. And of course whether Josh wants to be here or not.

I'm not entirely sure he's a good fit for us -- I do like his weak-side defense, and he's one of the most creative passing PFs in the game. He'd have to drastically cut back on his shots though. If he never attempts a three all season that'd be a good thing. If he scores mostly in the post that would be a good thing too. Will he be willing to accept that "Andre Igoudala" secret weapon off the bench role that served the Warriors so well this year? If so, I can see him being an asset rather than a distraction. Bench wise -- we currently have a great backup PG, we have a designated shooter, Omri is kindof a jack of all trades wing, and Koufos (if he doesn't start) is a great interior presence when Cousins comes out of the game. Adding Josh Smith (if he curtails his bad habits and plays for the team) could give us one of the deepest rosters in the league. It pushes Moreland into the 5th big role where he belongs until he gets a little more experience.

Can this lineup defend small-ball stretch 4's? We have WCS, so that's good. I'm not sure if Koufos and Cousins can, but I'm very hopeful that Moreland can. That, or we should acquire a defender for those stretch 4s.

Great points, I'd love to have him if he can buy in to the system and play where/how we need him. Given what he's already being paid by Detroit the money shouldn't be much of an issue, we'll see if we're attractive enough for him to want to come to town. I HAVE SO MANY JERSEYS TO BUY.

Tell me about it I got my James Anderson jersey on backorder.
