Kings and free agency - part 2

I'm hoping they can talk Rondo into taking a bit less and giving him options (2 years @ 16 mil, first year 6.5, player option on second year for 9.5), talk Josh Smith down around 12 mil/yr, then sign either Omri and Acy or Cole to a minimum deal. That would give the Kings:
Rondo/DC/Ray
Marco/Andersen
Gay/Omri
Josh Smith/WCS
DMC/WCS/[Cole Aldrich|Acy]
Where is Ben?

Edited.

I have a feeling they won't keep Ray around after next season. For some reason, they get rid of decent backup guards around here, then complain they don't have depths in the backcourt. Come to think of it, they basically do that in the front court too. They had Cole who was an athletic rim protector and let him go. They had Whiteside who did the same. Then they complain that they don't have any big men to come in for 5-8 minutes a game with any size.

Koufos+Stuckey+Casspi and call it a day. Hope Rondo is just using us in the end to get a deal elsewhere. He does nothing for this team.

Collison || Stuckey
Ben || Belinelli
Gay || Casspi
WCS || Moreland
Cousins || Koufos

Tremendous depth and filled to the brim with productive veterans around Rudy+Cuz. Everything you need, aside from a lock-down wing defender, to make a run in the playoffs. That above team is something I could get behind and very easily see making a 15+ win jump next season

WCS and Moreland as our "PF's" doesn't bother me at all either because of the versatility of being able to play Gay there and move Cousins to the PF spot in minutes with Koufos. So WCS may start, but he'd still be at 20-25 MPG, which is where he should be at.
At this point I would go with a combination of these two rosters: can't have Smith and Rondo on the same roster as spacing will be miserable, also Beli is not a starter with his pathetic D on Team 1; can't have 2 rookies occupying PF position on Team 2.

Smith+Stuckey+Koufos would be an excellent offseason.

Check the bottom edit. Start Koufos (who started 81 games for Karl in 2013) with Cuz at PF and bring the rooks off the bench. Either way, we're going to have to trust WCS and Moreland to be major contributors this season. We kind of made that apparent when we dealt JT and Landry and started pursuing guards with the money.

There's a real opportunity to steal Koufos now that most teams in the market for a C are done. Him at $8-$9 mil would be a steal and would not be hard to see him outproducing guys like Robin Lopez and Asik next season. Top 10 in DRPM, 46.9% opponent FG% at the rim. We have a real opportunity here. Hope we take it.

The Clipps need to go get Hibbert ASAP. Not the athlete that Jordan is, but they can play more halfcourt offense with Pierce and Blake as secondary playmakers. One of Jamal Crawford or Lance Stephenson is expendable -- probably Crawford unless Indiana really wants Lance back (I doubt they do). DeAndre Jordan is a sham -- I'm glad he went to the Mavs. All he does is finish off lobs and cleanup misses. Playing next to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin got him a huge payday, but he's going to turn back into a pumpkin once he goes somewhere else and gets to have the "bigger role in the offense" he wants for some reason. Good luck Mavs, I love watching them swing and miss with horrible FA signings almost as much as the Lakers. :)

WCS might be worth the gamble, but Moreland is as likely to injure his shoulder third time as he is being a dependable contributor. Offering starting job to Koufos makes Kings very serious contenders for his services. Question is whether Karl can make it work offensively, since he announced from Day 1, that JT is a center to him, and JT was way more capable than Kosta to leave paint all to Cuz.

What about Bargs as the stretch forward? Marco is coming here, might work.
I've thought about it as an option as well. There just aren't that many good stretch 4's available so Bargs might be the best option. If we sign Rondo the need for a big that can stretch the floor increases. I think it may work out since we have 3 good big defenders in WCS, Cuz, and Moreland. I'd offer Bargs $3 mil tops though since we'd really only need him for 15-20 mins a game assuming WCS picks things up relatively quickly.

Doc's GMing abilities remain terrible.
It's gonna be interesting to see if Dallas is willing to help them out by creating a trade exception through a sign-and-trade deal with LAC. I don't see any reason why they would though and I would much rather see the Clippers have to start someone like Big Baby Davis.

I'm not helping a fellow WC playoff team if I am the Mavs.

I'd love to get Ryan back home in a package that included Jru Holiday, but that would require dealing Rudy and the Kings have no real options at SF.

He's also a very good defender. You forgot the other side of the ball.

What this is going to do is uncover for all to see just how poor of a defender Blake is.

Clippers offered 5/109 and got turned down for 4/80.That's a lot of doh to be leaving on the table, speaks volumes about how the Clippers locker enviroment is.

When I first heard about our Philly trade, one of the first things I did was check who some of the free agents were next year since most of the top targets this year were gone. Ryan Anderson was one of the first guys that popped up and he's probably the most likely to sign here. He'd be a great fit, but may be tough to get before next offseason.
