Kings and free agency - part 2

Wow, DeAndre sounds like he's going to Dallas. Maybe we can take the Clippers playoff spot lol
Wonder, who will dump the ball to DAJ as well. Griffin and Paul both spoon fed him. He also wanted "bigger role"...Dallas does not look exceptionally strong. Much better on D? Most likely, but now creating offense might be a problem. Big blow to Clippers as well.

We need to structure the contract in a way so that if we need to cut him midseason cause he's lost his mind again, we can without horrible ramifications beyond taking money from Vivek. Which I am more than fine with.

I don't think an aging Dirk, injured Wes, and (1st/2nd option) Deandre Jordan makes the Playoffs. Our roster may looks better than theirs after free agency.
Yes if DJ goes to Mavs both teams suffer. Clippers have no center and no money to spend, Mavs get a pick and roll specialist playing with the best pick and roll PG in the world, to playing with Devin Harris? What if Wesley can't come back or is a shell of himself? Also the Clippers instantly become one of the worst defensive teams in the league with no interior defending and Paul Pierce and JJ Reddick as your wing defenders and only Lance as your useful bench player. Don't get me wrong both will make the playoffs, but they won't be world beaters, they won't be automatic losses for us.

Guaranteed Playoff teams (barring injuries, blokbuster trades, etc.):

1 - San Antonio
2 - Golden State
3 - Houston
4 - Los Angeles Clippers
5 - Oklahoma City
6 - Memphis

Race for 7th, 8th:

- Phoenix (?)

Gutter:

- Denver
- Portland
- Minnesota
- Los Angeles Lakers

Congratulations, you win the award for most homerrific post of the day! :cool:
I don't think it is an entirely ridiculous post. Yes DJ is great, but he is not better than Cousins. It mainly depends on what else the Kings and Mavs do. As it stands I would not be afraid to say that our roster currently looks better than the Mavs. Again a lot can happen and Carlisle and Mavs MGMT is light years ahead of what we got going, but just looking at the roster I like what we have going.

Yes I think with 2 or 3 more solid signing we are in that bubble where things like injuries start to decide things. Of course our main issue will be chemistry and if and how seen we can find it.

Wes may very well be regretting that if he wants to be on a team with real talent beside him. There could be a chance of exposure coming his way in Dallas. Right now he's probably their best offensive threat.

If DJ goes to Dallas who on the Clippers is going to guard DMC? They don't even have Spencer Hawes anymore. They literally might have to sign a Cole Aldrich or Ryan Hollins.

What could go wrong in regards to chemistry when fielding a team of Rondo, Cousins, WCS and having Karl as the coach and Vivek as our owner.... haha. But yes I completely agree. Who knows maybe the basketball gods will finally smile on Sacto.

Yep, not to mention who is going to throw DeAndre those lobs?

DJ also only looked great once Doc showed up in LA and used him in his defensive schemes that brought out the best in him. Like other's have mentioned, CP3 also was a big reason why DJ just got paid on a max deal. Regardless of who else we sign we still need to work out the Karl/Cousins issues but in a vacuum I'd take our roster over Dallas 10/10

The Clippers have not only lost their entire frontcourt, except for Blake Griffin, they've lost the only guys that played any defense on that team. Why would they be guaranteed to make the playoffs?

I'm hoping they can talk Rondo into taking a bit less and giving him options (2 years @ 16 mil, first year 6.5, player option on second year for 9.5), talk Josh Smith down around 12 mil/yr, then sign either Omri and Acy or Cole to a minimum deal. That would give the Kings:
Rondo/DC/Ray
Marco/Ben/Andersen
Gay/Omri
Josh Smith/WCS
DMC/WCS/[Cole Aldrich|Acy]

Koufos+Stuckey+Casspi and call it a day. Hope Rondo is just using us in the end to get a deal elsewhere. He does nothing for this team.

Collison || Stuckey
Ben || Belinelli
Gay || Casspi
WCS || Moreland
Cousins || Koufos

Tremendous depth and filled to the brim with productive veterans around Rudy+Cuz. Everything you need, aside from a lock-down wing defender, to make a run in the playoffs. That above team is something I could get behind and very easily see making a 15+ win jump next season

WCS and Moreland as our "PF's" doesn't bother me at all either because of the versatility of being able to play Gay there and move Cousins to the PF spot in minutes with Koufos. So WCS may start, but he'd still be at 20-25 MPG, which is where he should be at.

Heck, I wouldn't be opposed to offering Koufos a starting job and move Cuz over to PF, if that helped convince him to come here. He's an upgrade to JT in every facet, minus the mid-range (which wasn't all that great from JT anyway) and lets Cuz go to his prefered PF spot. There's also the Karl connection where he started 81 games for a 57 win Denver team

They already spent their MMLE on Pierce.
Their only course of action at this point is to work with Indiana and Dallas on acquiring Hibbert in a double S&T of DAJ and Monta.
Hopefully the Lakers would swoop in at that point and offer an asset for Hibbert after they keep striking out on Plan E, F, G. Hibbert could be a good anchor for LAL...keep em anchored to the cellar haha
