Cousins trade rumors (the sequel)

You know I do find it weird that Cousins isnt involved at all in recruiting free agents. Hard to convince free agents to come to Sac if your best player is on vacation.

Dwight was not there for the LMA meeting. Paul George was not present for the Monta Ellis meeting and so on.

It isn't abnormal for star players to not be in these meetings.

The unwavering hatred Grant has for Demarcus is getting creepy.

There has to be some personal reason for Grant to be still slandering him and manipulating the narrative, five years into an undeniably HOF-pace career.

I think that Cousins made it very clear, early on, that he does not like Grant for being a slimy, slandering blowhard.
I think Grant doesn't want Demarcus to have ANY power within the organization, because the more the Kings listen to Demarcus ("appease him", in Grant's words), the less power to slander people Grant will have.

Let's be honest - in a front office dominated by slimy, underhanded, disrespectful and unclassy* actions like we had with PDA, Grant fit right in. That's Grant's M.O. and plays right into what he does.
If the FO changed/changes to more of a professional, respectful, loyal one that aligns more with Demarcus' view of things, Grant will be on the outside looking in.

This is a power-play to protect his personal place in the organization.
Exactly the kind of weasel behavior we just (likely) ridded ourselves from with Mullin and PDA!
All three of them didn't care about the team - they burnt the team down just to solidify their selfish positions.

Mullin and PDA are gone from the organization now - IMO everyone who has proved they don;t care about the team, and will do damage to it just for their own powerbase, should be removed.
And yes, this includes Grant Napier.
Hell, what if Cousins stops turning the other cheek and makes it clear to the FO that he's had it with Grant?
Grant is a Kings employee, and constantly bashes Demarcus every single time he';s gotten the chance (and has created the opportunity to bash him when there wasn't one).
What if Cousins demands the Kings to muzzle their employee? Wouldn't that be poetic justice. Karma chameleon, b****.

* It's amazing how long Grant has obssessed over people being "the classiest guy you'll ever meet". Seriously, it's what he always says about guys he likes.
How the hell would Grant know anything about class/classy and professional?
This guy is a piece of slime, who has sold his professional soul years ago. His track record spews filth all over the place - how does he dare drone on about people being classy and professional?

BTW - I didn;t use to feel this way about Grant.
Go back just 5 years ago, and I'm probably one of the biggest Grant "fans" on here.
I probably have listened to him longer than 99% of posters here.
Back in 1997-98, he was the most insightful local reporters on the Kings - he seemed to know what was right for the team, had only their best interests at heart, gave them tough love and brought a spotlight to the guys doing the hard work, etc.

He completely changed over the years.
The Kings getting screwed out of not winning the championship really broke his heart.
It never healed, and the scars over it made him a raging heartless butthead only looking out for #1.

For some reason, he has viewed Demarcus as the one player who emblemizes everything he hates about the NBA since the day he entered the league.
I would not be surprised one iota if Demarcus physically assaulted/threatened Grant early on, and Grant has been attempting to prove which one of them is stronger ever since. (Oh, yeah? You big thug - I'll show you - you can't push me around and you'll have to take all the crap I dump on you cause I have the mouthpiece and you're just a gutless punk.)

This made my brain hurt.

If that's the case, then Karl really doesn't want Rondo based on Grant's relentless bashing of rondo on my drive home.

He flat out said Ray McCallum is better.
Possible too.

Reports of continuing conflict between what Karl wants and Vlade want could be on things like that. Vlade sees Cuz here, maybe Rondo here via Rudy. Karl sees Cuz gone, wants Ty Lawson back to bring him bagels in the morning etc.

Speaking of Karl, Dave when asked who's in these meetings just said it's Vivek/Vlade, no mention of Karl.

And again I say Karl not being at these meetings is evidence of the division which exists. We're not united.

Someone was asking about players in these meetings. Do they ever do them without the owner? Would be swell in this case

Can you imagine how awful it must be as a player to sit down and get pitched by Vivek?
Can you imagine getting pitched by Vivek while the coach doesn't even bother to show up?

This situation is still a mess. Vivek probably thought he could just throw more money at Monta or Matthews than anyone else and they'd simply sign on the dotted line.

Big question here is...how long can this go on?
Well hell, PDA wasn't even letting Malone sit in on the interviews for his assistant coaches, so baby steps, you know? :)

P.S. you might think firing Karl would just add to our perception of chaos, but if Karl not being there is legitimately sending the message to FAs that you are coming into a situation where your own proposed coach doesn't want you, then you won't ever be able to sign a FA, and again, you can't let that situation persist. If that's true. If its true.

Considering vague comments on Dave's twitter, I assume, Karl came to Vlade with the shopping list, and was sent on his way with "I will pick the roster" comment by Vlade, though Rudy at 4 feels like Karl's suggestion.

Why? Grant usually gets insider news or what?
No way the front office would give something like that to Grant, especially at this point in time. Grant loves to play devil's advocate and he likes to try and get ahead of the curve just in case...

I'm not convinced all is well with Cousins quite yet, but I'm not ready to concede defeat. The fact Grant continues to talk about it (with the "it's a possibility" disclaimer) is just ANOTHER reason I refuse to listen to his show.

No, Karl not in those meetings is Vlade showing that he and not George Karl will be making the personnel decisions. And I believe Karl even said at the beginning he would not be involved in those decisions. (Of course, I think he fully expected to have a say. Guess he shouldn't have made the big Serbian guy angry.)

You're talking about two different things...

You're implying for Vlade to be the decision maker, Karl can't be in the meetings, which is of course false. What it is is more evidence of the divide, which there's plenty evidence of at this point.

No, I'm actually not talking about two different things. You're just interpreting them that way. They're both linked quite nicely in my mind. :p

You've suggested Karl not being at the meetings shows Vlade's in charge.

And I'm presenting the argument that Vlade can be in charge whether Karl shows up to the meetings or not. Vlade being in charge is not dependent on Karl showing up. Hence, two different things. Are you suggesting if Karl sat at the table, that strips Vlade of his power?

What you're implying is it's an impossibility for Karl to be at these meetings and Vlade remain in charge. If that were true, this dysfunction is incredibly high, that we can't even have Vlade and Karl in the same room together. A positive working relationship would see all at the table with few issues.

This btw is an example of a more united front and the impact it can have.

Source: DJ impressed that Dirk Nowitzki come off family vacation for meeting in LA. None of the Clipper players were at meeting.

Cuban, Carlisle, Donnie Nelson, Dirk, Parsons were all there. Quite different with us.
DJ is a ****.

Why would his own teammates who he just gone done spending 7 months with every single day all run in to gush over him and over him under the table favors if he's just bless them by resigning?

He's apparently forgotten he was 8 and 8 until Doc arrived and made him into somebody.
