Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

Except that first from the Lakers will be a pick in the 20's or later. If we wanted to trade Cousins to the Lakers, this was the year. They owe a future pick to 76ers next year (top 3 protected). They can't be as bad as they were last year.
I just meant the "Lakers" as an example. The point is that there will always be teams lining up to trade for Boogie if this all goes south.

Coming off an achilles injury is a big red flag if he is asking more than $10-$12M. Losing Nik could hurt unles some diamonds in the rough fall out of summer league. Right now Moreland is the only big other than Cuz and Willy. So maybe 3 bigs and 10 guard-forwards which Karl may have wanted all along. The mind boggles at the thought.

First off kudos to Vlade and co for getting a trade that sent 3 of the easily replaceable players in our roster in return for a good cap space.
This is the revamp that only a few people in the league could actually make it happen. And damn Vlade, you're special.

Second, I hope we get 2 legit starters at least with this cap space, which is more likely gonna move Ben and Darren to the bench.
I like Matthews but I hope he's fully healed.
And I don't mind Rondo either, this probably the place where he won't be a primadonna coz he got his friend here in Rudy and fellow Kentucky alumni in DMC and Trill.

If the dust settles, we end up with:

C - DMC/Bhullar(probably a Vivek call)
PF - Trill/Moreland
SF - Rudy/D-Will
SG - Wes/Ben/MacCallum (probably for 2 PG lineup)
PG - Rondo/DC/Stockton

I hope we get some vet min or some other special D-League for a PF spot

Don't forget the cap hold on the guy that we traded for and released that signed with the Lakers.

Matthews wouldn't be a bad idea if he weren't injured and poised to cost us all of our remaining cap space. I fully support clearing out Thompson and Landry. Needed to happen. I'm less thrilled about the included picks, but I can stomach it if we now use some of that space to fix our front court rotation. We have Cousins and two rookies. That's a disaster waiting to happen. Some of you think WCS is NBA ready, as if you've already forgotten how well our last two lottery picks fared in their inaugural seasons. I like Rondo at market value. Let someone else overpay Matthews. We don't need Aldridge, but we need depth at PF and a wing defender. I really hope we don't go chasing name talent now just for the hell of it. Nobody wins anything on paper. We can put together a better team with lower profile acquisitions who fit with our main pieces.

Did Reggie Evans vanish? Is he even on the team anymore?

If we end up giving Wes 15million, unless he 100% healthy that deal has the potential to look something like Eric Gordon past 3 years otherwise it could be a franchise changing move which has great benefits.

This is as big risk/reward move that I can remember us making in a LONG time.

A nice backcourt rotation but probably the worst bigs in the league (aside from cuz obviously).

If overpaying a little bit is what it takes....DO IT
If rolling the dice on Rondo is what it takes....DO IT

Lets not ignore the fact that Aminu just got $30 million
Tristan Thompson $80 million
Brandon Knight $70 million
Khris Middleton $70 million

and the list of ridiculous contracts goes on even further.... a 4 year $60 million dollar deal for him wouldnt be that bad.

For Rondo or Ellis....mmmm yeah definitely!
Can you think of a player that has ever come back from an Achilles injury the same? This isn't the same Wesley Matthews we're talking about. It's a huge risk financially, and even more considering his injury.

So we just mortgaged our the rest of the decade's draft picks for a chance to sign a busted Wes Matthews and a declining Rajon Rondo?

I love that we got rid of underperforming vets at the 4, and I never liked the Stauskas pick (boo'd it live at the draft!) - but I feel we gave up way to much here for a chance to overpay two vets and maybe they sign and maybe they bounce back and maybe they perform well and get us into the first round. But how long does that longshot of a possibility last? One, two years of first round playoff exits? And after then, no assets to rebuild?

Unless we use this cap space to get creative with trades and not just two FAs, we might have screwed ourselves out of legitimate contention until the next decade.
you act like we gave up lottery picks lol relax

I dont think an Achilles injury is the same death sentence as it once was, plus Matthews never relied so much on his athleticism. But it is a risk of course, i wont argue that point at all! However it is a risk Vlade is willing to take!

If Wes is a franchise changer, why isn't Portland doing everything to keep him?

We are seriously overvaluing a guy coming off a catastrophic injury.

Anyone thinking we were a non All Star SG away from being a contender is delusional.

And what have the Nets done with that? 1st round or bust, right? I guess they beat the Raptors. But guess what...they still haven't given all the picks to Boston yet. They are royally screwed in the future.
Isn't our goal the playoffs? We aren't screwed in the future...

Our 2016 pick is top 10 protected to the Bulls. The Sixers can only swap if we retain our pick.

Ex:
If our 2016 pick lands outside of top 10, the Bulls get it, and Philly gets an option to swap our picks in 2017.

HOWEVER, if our pick lands INSIDE the top 10, and we retain our pick, the Sixers have the option in swapping picks for 2016. We will not owe them a 2017 1st round pick swap.

A potential pick swap for 2017 only occurs if the Sixers don't get the opportunity to swap in 2016.

Also, what are the odds that Philly is better than us the next 2 years?

Then in 2018, it's a protected 1st round pick.

So it's honestly not that bad.

Nope, that's wrong. See the correct numbers below.

DeMarcus Cousins $15,851,950
Rudy Gay $12,403,101
Darren Collison $5,013,559
Ben McLemore $3,156,600
Willie Cauley-Stein (Cap Hold) $2,831,900
Ray McCallum $947,276
Wayne Ellington (Stretch) $882,630
Eric Moreland $845,059
David Stockton $845,059
Undrafted Rookie FA Cap Hold $525,093
Undrafted Rookie FA Cap Hold $525,093
Undrafted Rookie FA Cap Hold $525,093
Undrafted Rookie FA Cap Hold $525,093

Total Payroll = $44,877,506
Salary Cap = $69,100,000
Cap Space = $24,222,494

You look like you're using Hoopshype salary numbers which are wrong (e.g., Cousins). Your cap hold for Cauley-Stein is off too, and not to mention you're not including Ellington's stretch, undrafted rookie cap holds, Moreland's contract, and Stockton's contract. Their contracts are unguaranteed, but they are on the books until we decide we want to waive them.

If you waive Moreland, Stockton, and McCallum, our cap space goes up to $25,284,609.

WCS will be just as effective as JT and Carl were last year. maybe moreso. But jsut as likely its start Rudy, maybe alongside Omri or some such. Not my preferred arrangement, but talent wins in this league, we will have a lot of talented players. And we actually have the money to scoop up a big if we want one too depending on who the littles are. We're going shopping now. And last year JT, after Malone was fired, and Carl, added about 0 wins to our seasonal total.
yea, they sucked. period.

Portland aint is probably gonna have to rebuild around Lillard if Aldridge leaves

Because I assume they are going to lose LMA and giving a guy 15million to be a 3rd option makes no sense, now for us Wes as a 3rd option is currently far more valuable than it would be to them, I'm not saying your wrong and based on history your probably 100% right but the circumstances are way different and we are not trying to be a contender atm imo we are just trying to scrap into the playoffs.

On the other hand, I don't think it's pure coincidence that 76ers dangled in 2 euros (Mitrovic and Gudaitis). Mitrovic is Serbian which would probably safe to say the Vlade knows this kid well. And Gudaitis is from Lithuania pretty much same basketball region that Vlade oversees. Both are more like stretch 4 based on NBA Draft profiles. It would be interesting if Vlade actually calls them to the US mid season and give them a roster spot.

So I would say that this trade is a Vlade call and I think he'll fill this up nicely.(fingers-crossed)
