Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

Even if we didn't end up signing anyone good this year we could sign a bunch of one year deals and then have at it next year.

ALSO, teams LOVE trading players to teams who can absorb salary, so if we don't sign someone we would be a VERY attractive trade partner.

It's win/win. JT/Landry and Nik weren't going to win us anything. We need to get rid of the clutter in order to make an overhaul of the bench.

I can't believe that people want to have the same team as last year + WCS. We would be back at 25-30 wins. We need to change the culture here and bringing in fresh blood while keeping our core will hopefully do the trick.

Do you think Vlade does this move unless he's confident we're going to at least get one of the guys we're after?
That is what I'm afraid of.

Ellis? Rondo?! A (potentially) gimpy Wes Matthews?!

You made some good points, and we'll just have to wait and see how this move turns out. It is definitely ballsy. I'm just worried we are about to VASTLY overpay for somebody who doesn't even help the team.

And no, we wouldnt be a 25-30 win team again. We werent a 25-30 win team last season. Our record was scuttled by our incompetent FO and even more incompetent coach. We had the talent last season to push for 40 wins. If our only change was adding WCS, and if Cuz and Karl could figure it out, we'd push for 45 wins.

Anyways, I'll just wait and see.....But this can backfire in a major way for us.

Not at all a fan of this move.

So we ditched a solid big on a decent contract and gave up on ANOTHER draft miss pick and our end game is either replicating the god awful Rondo/Ellis back court, because, you know....That worked SOOOOOO well for Dallas. OR we are going to grossly overpay someone who just had a potentially career altering injury?!

Ugh.

I want Vlade to succeed (obviously), and will happily eat crow if we land some great FAs because of this deal..... But right now it is looking like a very shaky roll of the dice. Even if we DO land our targets, we are still gambling on them actually translating into Ws.

The fact that we are going hard after Rondo and Ellis, two players that we have been going hard after well before **** hit the fan with PDA, well before Vlade, makes me wonder if this is The Irritant striking again.

Had to make the move.

We had 3 main contributors lat year, not enough assets to patch all the holes, and we found a way to throw out as many as 6 main contributors next year, + Ben, without giving up any of our contributors from this past season.

Wait, why would we trade assets to get rid of salary, just to absorb someone's other problems for their assets?

P.S. George Karl can go well and truly **** himself if he is still causing trouble back there. We've got crap to do and are making moves. If you want to be a problem/distraction when we need everybody all in, I will see your head as the 3rd head on a pike out in front of Sleep Train. Enough drama queens.

I mean, I get it....

...I think it is just the names we are attached to that have me worried. Rondo doesn't help us. Ellis sure as hell doesnt help us. IF Wes can get back to his pre-injury level of play than he can DEFINITELY help us, but that is the gamble.

We shall see...

Rondo may help us. Matthews may help us. Ellis is a major talent.

2 of them + a WCS added to Cousins/Gay/Collison puts us miles ahead. Even if you are forced to go with the much cheaper Jeremy Lin/Matthews or Lin/Ellis you have added two quality guards, and now have 4, and if its Lin you might still have enough money to go chase Koufos or some such.

Adn then you fill in the bench with Omri, Dre, Acy, Moreland, Dahntay etc. Tough vets, hard workers, scrappers.

That's true but money being equal and if he looks at the rosters it comes down too:

Cousins/Gay
VS
Parsons/Dirk
Lowry/Derozan
And who draws more double teams than anyone on that list? If I'm a shooter who can camp in the corner to make a living, I'm hooking up with the big man who owns the pain and can drop dimes.

Sifting through all the stuff CD is saying, I think he thinks the problem is Vivek and the culture he sets.

And again I think it's related to whatever he heard earlier today.
Well that's hardly a surprise.

The only surprise with Vivek is it took him so long to lose his tech company. Anybody want to in halvsies with me on a one way ticket to Mumbai? Think its high time Vivek took a LONG promotional trip to the sub-continent. A few months in Nepal and Bangladesh wouldn't be out of order either.

My only issue is that this deal has been struck and nobody has been reported to have signed with the team. As soon as someone good signs, I am fully at peace.

highly unlikely given our excellent timing -- we waited until most of the teams had already shot their wad, and are now the biggest player out there and can pitch to a FA that we are going to sign 2 of them together.

But even if we did, we now become a team with huge cap room able to absorb other teams' unwanted contracts. Denver wants to dump Lawson? That's easy now. Hell, it takes too much, but if we wanted to take on Deron we could suddenly do it. We have the ability to add major vets now.
