That was a response to a response to a response:

@ninjabiscuit appears to feel a certain way about some of Dave's tweets not describing the entirety of his thoughts in explicit detail. Dave, presumably due to built up agitation, over the course of the day, posted a response to him in which he (possibly facetiously) suggested that we as mods take a poll as to whether or not we should allow his tweets should be permitted here.

My post was basically to say that said poll won't be necessary, and if someone has a problem with Dave's tweets, it's not KF's problem.

Never mind...

Okay, back to the free agency discussion...

Does anyone really think we need to even think about Derrick Williams? Didn't I hear earlier today that the Kings announced they would not be proffering a qualifying offer?

Depends on what you mean by "think about it." The QO would have been around $7M, IIRC. That's obviously a ridiculous sum of money for Derrick Williams, but if he takes a look around, and realizes that he doesn't have much value, and comes back with his tail between his legs and signs for $2M or less? That would hardly make our Top 10 worst free agent signings...

I just don't even want to think about having to hear opposing broadcasters talk about "the former #2 pick" when they refer to DWill. If anyone has shown that where you're drafted doesn't necessarily equate to success in the NBA, Williams is that guy.

Not to nit pick but a QO would be about half his salary since he was not a starter... so 4 mill would do it. Probably 2 mill more than he will get.

Enough.

I don't know what to tell you. There is an unfollow button, use it. I get absolutely zero out of Twitter followers, it's a fun way to communicate with fellow fans. If you are thinking its to promote my show, trust me when I say the analytics don't support it at all. Remember, we get zero credit for ratings as pertains to streaming or anything other than people with meters actually listening on an old fashioned radio, and 90 something percent of Twitter users stream.

I think out loud on Twitter. I vent. I post. I can't do smileys or emoticons because it's too mysterious and its attention craving or whatever.

I tweet. I post here and other places. I periscope now. I do a show. I love talking Kings (usually). Sometimes I put info out there. Sometimes I hint (because it's all I CAN do). And to sound self-serving, I have a pretty decent track record of being honest in my thoughts and accurate in my news.

You can't win. You're a mouthpiece or a shill, or you're too negative or a Debbie downer or a drama queen or an attention whore.

I don't ask you to put ANY stock in what I say. You'll never hear me say "well, I do this or that so what I say is right". I'm very careful to let fans think what they want, and to dispel the myth that talk show hosts' opinions matter any more than Jane ticket holder.

I'm sorry I don't include a decoder ring with each tweet. You can simply choose to believe me or not when I say that. Short memories man.

This is a trying time for being a Kings fan, and I find myself in the rare position of having trouble finding a silver lining. I live and die with this team, and I'm probably too honest and open with my thoughts and my emotions and should probably back off, but that would be disingenuous.

So honestly, with all respect in the world and zero snark, don't follow me. Mods, take a poll and make a rule that none of my tweets be posted or referenced because they're too dramatic or inflammatory. Don't listen to my show, don't watch my periscopes.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm being serious. The drama stuff for some reason bites me today because there's WAY too much drama. If that's what you think, you are entitled and bless you and yours. Ignore me and simply move on. I swear I will not be offended.

Mods, I hope this doesn't hijack anything.

Lastly, I'll say it again, the Kings convos here are top notch, and times like today I'm glued to 3-4 sites, and this is one of them. You are all passionate and knowledgable, and I learn a ton by reading. I love it. And I love being a part of this wonderfully dysfunctional kings family.
Sorry, Dave, I need to learn to post when I'm not annoyed. Mea culpa. I'm going to stop whining about your posts...I find myself always wanting to know what you know, but that doesn't mean I can be a jerk to you online about it. I have a lot of respect for what you have done for the team.

p.s. Also sorry about Jodi and Little Joe losing their jobs. Must have been tough, and I'm obviously not helping. Hang in there.

EDIT a few missing words

I really appreciate that. It's been a rough day. And a rough week for all of us. It's really cool (and rare online) these days for someone to be nice like that. Thank you.

Go Kings!

I wonder if their tax bill is going to top the one the Nets had to pay the other year?

I don't understand how they can do it either, and to be honest, it's times like these when I wish the NBA had a hard cap like the NFL.
Well, Gilbert is wealthy...

And, it's been speculated by some (probably most notably by Dan LeBatard) that, as part of making Gilbert pay for "the letter," and proving that he is truly contrite for how he talked about LeBron James when he left, part of LeBron's stipulations for returning to Cleveland was that he was going to make Gilbert eat it, in terms of luxury tax. That, in addition to making sure that he can get more money for himself, is why some people believe he hasn't re-signed yet: he wants to make sure that Gilbert makes good on his promise to pay the luxury tax to keep and/or get guys.

Could be worse we could be a team that let Isaiah Thomas, Tyreke Evans, and Hassan Whiteside walk or team that had wes Matthews locked in during summer league and let him walk. Oh wait. Well at least we didn't fire a really good coach that everybody like and showed much improvement. Hmmmm

Alex Kennedy: The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings have expressed interest in Dahntay Jones, according to league sources.

Which would make some sense, even though he is 3,126 years old.

Because I am yet to finish the KingsWiki project, people may have forgotten that back in the Cretaceous Period Dahntay was a member of the Kings for a season, and then he left to go play for Karl and spot started for him almost the entire year. For a long time was an athletic defender around the league. now at the end he could still be an end of the bench vet with the right focus and knows both the town and the coach.

How disappointing would this season be if we spent our $10M on resigning Acy, D-Will and Casspi? I want Casspi back but if we just sign the same players to be the same team next year + WCS....

Er, yeah, but you're the guy who keeps posting "inside" information that you can't source. Aren't you a bit of an attention seeker yourself?

He did.. Looked back at his original quote and it was word for word from the article so I assume he had just forgot to link it..

With all of these crazy contracts.... I have to give one big thank you to PDA.

Thank goodness we locked Rudy Gay early in the season.

Well at least PDA did one good thing as kings GM.

Im confused too. If someone can confirm Cleveland has the Bird rights of Love, Shumpert, Lebron, Thompson, thus they can re sign all of them and go over the cap, they will have to pay luxury tax though?

We can do this with Casspi, Williams, Miller, Reggie, Hollins?

So basically they're paying 20mil/year for Shumpert? HAH!!! That's terrible value right there.

Who needs a guy who can get you 17/5/6, as the #2 option? Who's paying $11M for that?

I admit I was totally wrong about the Reke contract. I didn't want to touch 11mil, let alone 9mil.. Turns out it's a deal for a player of his stature. He's finding his niche in NO. Now all he needs is an outside jumper and he will be elite.

By using Malone as bait and then cutting him ASAP. Good result, but it wasn't because of PDA's skill as a GM. It was his skill as a poor human being.

I know, it's not like we did really good last year... Why just bring back the same team and pay more for them? There needs to be change.. change at SG, backup PG, backup PF/C ect ect.. I would love to see JT, Collison, McLemore, Casspi, (free agent) coming off the bench. That means we need a new SG and PG...

Speed may be of the essence at this point. If the Kings do have interest in Beverly, they need to offer him a deal he wants now. The Rockets are trying to land LA, and may be forced to not match an offer on Beverly if it happens now. Once they have LA, or once LA has made a decision, it does them no harm to match. Also, if you're interested in Rondo, the price is going to go up as teams miss on their primary targets and turn to plan B.

My preference based on where things are after today would be to try to round out the team with Beverly/Brewer (Not sure it's doable money wise though) since I think there's maybe an outside shot you could get both of them, while if you get Rondo, that's about it. I like the idea of Beverly and Brewer because you can always have an elite wing defender on the floor, and potentially you can have 2 on the floor for stretches. Beverly shoots ok, Brewer doesn't. I think it clearly makes us a defense oriented team which is a little backwards with Karl as our head coach, but there's plenty of athletes there to run the floor, and you can't get out and run unless you're getting stops first.

PG: Collison/Beverly/Ray Mac - Starting spot up for grabs for whoever earns it
SG: Ben/Brewer/Nik
SF: Rudy/Nik/Omri (I think we can go over the cap to re-sign Omri?)
PF: Cuz/Landry/Evans (again I think we can go over the cap to re-sign)
C: WCS/JT/Moreland

This feels like a team that's going to be no fun to play, lot's of lineup options, lot's of defense and length. Shooting is an issue, but you're not going to get everything. Heck, even this is probly unrealistic based on the salaries that are out there. It's built around being able to get Beverly and Brewer for 10m, which is probly a pipe dream. Maybe you could trade Nik for one of them in a sign and trade and bring back Omri as the backup SF to make the numbers realistic. You're not really finding much floor time for Nik in the above scenario anyways.

A small market team has to build through the draft. Sad thing is, when you look at the players we let go, the team was already built. We really just needed a legit coach. Vivek and crew dismantled it with no clear plan. We have no assets to build on the fly right now, so we're stuck with taking chances on players like Rondo.
