Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

All of this romdo talk may also push Denver into a better trade of Lawson to the kings.

Vlade can tell Denver, look I will sign rondo and not look back, or you can trade me Lawson for nik, Darren and landry, you have 24 hrs to give me your answer.

Definitely liking this. Plus he can shoot the three.....

C- Cousins
PF- WCS
SF- Gay
SG- Green
PG- Rondo

Tell me that isn't a good starting lineup and I will say you're high.. And the Rondo haters saying he's done, what do you base that on? A half year with Dallas? Come on..... That's a PG wasteland.
Kings aren't getting both green and rondo! More likely rondo, green is a pipe dream.

I'm terrible when it comes to understanding our cap space, would we even have the space to acquire Green AND Rondo? Only via S&T maybe? Seems like a dream that we would have a chance to get both Green and Rondo. That's a big time team changing free agency for us.

I just posted our cap situation not too long ago. Below is the post.

You're not factoring in any cap holds here.

It was originally rumored that the salary cap would be $67,100,000. If that is the case, we would have $7,997,083 in cap space (I use basketball insiders for the contracts and cap holds). If the salary cap increases by another $2,000,000, then we have $9,997,083 in cap space to start.

If we make a trade like Landry and removing the 2016 1st Round Pick Protection for a future protected 2nd rounder (basically removing the protection of our pick for instant cap relief), we would have $13,971,990 in cap space ($15,971,990 if they increase the cap by $2,000,000).

If we were then to waive all of our unguaranteed contracts (McCallum, Moreland, & Stockton), we would have $15,034,105 in cap space ($17,034,105 if they increase the cap by $2,000,000).

If we're trying to sign Green, there will likely not be any room for Rondo unless we make another trade for cap relief (likely Thompson).

If the kings somehow sign danny green, they will need to use almost all their cap space, not getting rondo too.

I think a more likely scenario is kings trade for ty Lawson and then go hard for Danny green with cap space.

I'm honestly on the fence about Rondo, but if we do decide to sign him I'll be happy to have him as a King.
Thats how im feeling about this as well. I mean on one hand i dont think its a good idea for many reason....but on the other hand he was an all-star and excellent defensive player and if he can return to old form it would increase the teams talent by a large margin.

I don't know if this is true or not but there always has to be something when it comes to this guy. He seems to find a problem with just about everything. Even the few positive moves we've tried to make.
Maybe it's because Cuz took a look at Rondo's shooting, and realized what kind of spacing that would bring.

Basketball Insiders is the best from my experience.

DeMarcus Cousins $15,851,950
Rudy Gay $12,403,101
Carl Landry $6,500,000
Jason Thompson $6,431,250
Darren Collison $5,013,559
Ben McLemore $3,156,600
Nik Stauskas $2,869,440
Willie Cauley-Stein $2,831,900
Ray McCallum $947,276
Wayne Ellington Cap Hold (Stretch) $882,630
Eric Moreland $845,059
David Stockton $845,059
Undrafted Rookie FA Cap Hold $525,093

Total Payroll = $59,102,917
Salary Cap = $67,100,000 (or $69,100,000 if the cap rises $2,000,000)
Cap Space = $7,997,083
Cousins salary.. Basketball ref and Hoopshype has his contract at $14,728,844 for the 2015 season. Spotrac and Basketball Insiders has it $15,851,950

Using your numbers, if you subtract the unguaranteed contracts, your total goes to 56,465,523 which mean there's a total cap space of 10,534,477. You include getting rid of Landry's contract, and the numbers goes to roughly $17,000,000.

So we basically have 10,534,477 in cap space if we waive our unguaranteed contracts.

Is there something I'm missing? I'm just curious, because I'm really trying to figure it out..

I think the thing that there are 3 things that people don't consider about Rondo (besides his personality and the fact that his assist numbers is inflated from him basically playing to get this stat better):

1. He doesn't play defense at all- if he was once the guy that defended and was a great playmaker, he is not that anymore. considering how many of the posters here (rightfully) didn't want Lawson, current Rondo is not better (I think right now he is worse, disengaged at all times).

2. Teams has zero respect for his jumper- don't get fooled by his ok shooting numbers on paper, when guarded heavily (defender in 0-2 ft range) he shot the ball at 0% from 3, being guarded regularly (defender in 2-4 ft range) he shot 16.7%, when he is what considered open (4-6 ft range) he shoots 27.8%- those are terrible numbers, what saves him is that on wide open looks he can convert on 40.5% and that is almost half of his shooting.
but the problem is that when he is wide open he hurts the offense as defenders completely sag off him, and although he can hit a wide open jumper- he doesn't take nearly enough of them to make it mean anything (seeing him give away wide open looks hurt my eyes)- and that's why he ****s up the offense.

3. He is a ball dominate guard and that's it- where he can be affective is with the ball in his hands, because for all of his faults he really has some very good playmaking abillities, but he can't operate at any other system where he is not key cog and holds the ball for most of the shot-clock, and though he is still an elite passer in the league, his playmaking abillity has been limited do to the fact defenses give him much less "respect" than they once did and can deal with him much easier.
Moreover, his "good friend" Gay also need the ball in his hands and we already have Cousins who should be your focal point on offense, and let's not forget that if you don't play his way- he is not exactly a fun guy to have around, he was borderline unplayable in Dallas.

When you start off by saying Rondo doesn't play defense I can't take anything else you say seriously.

You have to account for the fact that he was disgruntled severely last year, basically knowing his time in Boston was up, and then the usage problems with Carlisle in Dallas.

We're talking about a 4x All Defensive team player here. He may have lost half a step, but the guy can play defense. It's just a matter of getting him to buy in and team chemistry.
