Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

Assuming they are going after Green they must have a trade lined up somewhere for either Ben or Nik. This can't be one of those Landry/Patterson/JT/Chuck Hayes situations we had 2 years ago.

The lakers are no longer a viable landing spot for rondo given they drafted Russell and have clarkson. Miami is even more in rebuild mode than the kings.

I think the kings may land rondo with a 2 year /$20 million contract with a 2nd year player option.

The kings would need to sign a 3 point specialist with the veteran exception to spread the floor.

Is it feasable to get both Green and Rondo? We would have to rid ourselves of Landrys contract, easier said than done. Green is a longshot though, hard to justify going from the Spurs to the Kings.

Please...talent towards the East.
This. If I was someone like LaMarcus Aldridge, I'd sign with Toronto or Atlanta if not the Spurs. Waltz right into the ECF guaranteed. Not sure why the competitive imbalance isn't more of a factor for some of these guys (or maybe it is, and that's why, say, Monta is reportedly more interested in Eastern Conference teams).

I'm actually hoping Aldridge signs with the Spurs.. they'll always be good no matter what. If he doesn't sign with the Spurs, he's most likely going to Dallas.. or returning to Portland. Those are the 2 teams we don't want getting better..

Portland losing Aldridge, and Dallas not getting good players through FA are our only hopes of playoffs for next season.

Good move from Vlade. This shouldnt be a "you're desperate, we're desperate lets make a deal". Show him your vision, show him its not as crazy as Woj and the national media will have you think and sell him on playing with the best big man in the game and Rudy. Make him buy in to the vision and not just look at Sacramento as a place to use to rehab your value.
This is not something PDA could have done. SO glad Vlade is here.

No one on the planet could talk about the Kings vision and returning former glory and buying into the team mission better than one Vlade Divac.

Answer: Maybe..

If the cap is at 67million next year, we currently have $58million guaranteed. If we let go of Stockton+Moreland, we'll have around $56million guaranteed. Let's say we get rid of Landry(6.5million). We'd have around $49.5million guaranteed. Which means, we'll have about $17.5million to spend.

We can offer Danny Green something like 3 years $36million while structuring his contract in a way where his 1st year has a lower cap hit. For ex, he could be paid $9million his first year, $15million his 2nd year, and $12million his 3rd year.

Therefore, we'd have $8.5million left in cap..which should be enough for Rondo. We could also structure it to have a low cap hit his 1st year too.

Rumors are that the cap could actually be higher by 2million then predicted.
You're not factoring in any cap holds here.

It was originally rumored that the salary cap would be $67,100,000. If that is the case, we would have $7,997,083 in cap space (I use basketball insiders for the contracts and cap holds). If the salary cap increases by another $2,000,000, then we have $9,997,083 in cap space to start.

If we make a trade like Landry and removing the 2016 1st Round Pick Protection for a future protected 2nd rounder (basically removing the protection of our pick for instant cap relief), we would have $13,971,990 in cap space ($15,971,990 if they increase the cap by $2,000,000).

If we were then to waive all of our unguaranteed contracts (McCallum, Moreland, & Stockton), we would have $15,034,105 in cap space ($17,034,105 if they increase the cap by $2,000,000).

If we're trying to sign Green, there will likely not be any room for Rondo unless we make another trade for cap relief (likely Thompson).

I think 2 years /$20 million is too much especially if second year is a player option. He did have a down year so it shouldn't cost us so much. I was thinking closer to $7 mil with player option and give him another mil or two only if he agrees to a team option. He needs to rebuild his image so he needs a team willing to let him as much as we need a pg

I believe that if we really have a shot at Danny Green, it will be a S&T for Ben. And I'm sure Ben would become a really nice player for the Spurs.

This way we send out a contract and the Spurs get a guy who can become Green's replacement at a cheaper price. I don't see the Spurs just losing Green.

It's difficult trying to figure out the exact contract #s and cap holds. What did you factor into your $8million number?

According to several sites like Spotrac and Hoopshype, we're estimated to have $55million guaranteed money for next season.

If there's one thing in life you never EVER do it's trade with the Spurs you come out on the losing end no matter what.

Maybe we could sweeten the deal by having him meet with The Pizza Guys after his meeting with Vlade. ;)

Danny Green is an unrestricted free agent. He can go wherever he wants and the Spurs have no control over it. The Kings have the money to sign Green

Pistons have a lot of cap space, so Green isn't happening, unless Kings are sending out Landry in the same deal (trading JT opens the hole - need another solid 3rd big) - that's the only way to give Danny above $10 million.

Been hearing for weeks that Danny Green is Kings No.1 target. Size, shooting, defending, ball movement and pacing ... ideal in GK system.

Good!

Definitely liking this. Plus he can shoot the three.....

C- Cousins
PF- WCS
SF- Gay
SG- Green
PG- Rondo

Tell me that isn't a good starting lineup and I will say you're high.. And the Rondo haters saying he's done, what do you base that on? A half year with Dallas? Come on..... That's a PG wasteland.
