Official Draft Day Discussion - NO SPOILERS ALLOWED

#1
We're going to need a thread for this pretty soon. Not sure if this should be here or the NBA forum, feel free to move.

One thing I want to ask, and I hope I have support in this, is posters should NOT post the picks before they come in. Woj tweets the picks before they happen and last year we had a couple of idiots who consistently spoiled the picks, despite being constantly told not to by posters and mods alike. They're really should be a temp ban for anyone who does this. Let's at least wait until Silver announces it - nobody is going to give you brownie points for posting the pick before anyone else. It just makes you look like a douche.

I don't even dare post joke articles anymore, for fear that a) everybody will actually believe them; and b) they may actually turn out to be true.

This is shaping up as the most exciting draft day ever.

Thanks for clarifying "no spoilers" right in the header. Last year, I did not know or realize this potential. I was following on twitter - saw we picked Stauskas - and flipped to KF.com to talk about it. I had no idea about the data lag - I wasn't in front of the TV.

Hope this year nobody does that.

Don't worry, there is usually only a minute or two gap between Woj's tweets and the pick on stage. Just frustrating when you're discussing the previous pick and someone posts the next pick before Silver is even on stage. Hopefully it won't be happening this year.

In the extremely unlikely event that Okafor drops to 6 (lets say it goes. 1. KAT 2. Russell 3. Porzingis 4. Winslow 5. Hezonja - or some variation), do we take Okafor? I think you kind of have to, regardless of fit.

Not really much point thinking about that anyway, as there's about a 1% chance of it happening.

Absolutely - even if we don't keep him (which I think we could), the offers would likely help plug a hole and give us a good draft pick for next year.

AdrainWojnarowski@therealwoj: Four team deal that sends Anthony Davis, John Wall, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal to the Kings for Carl Landry, the #6 pick and cash considerations. Also, the Kings are retroactively awarded the 2001 NBA Larry O'Brien trophy.

So many mock drafts out there with so many in flux scenarios. My favorite choice is one saw on SI.com with Kings trading down with Boston to land their 2 first rounders plus their top of second round pick.

You sell him for some nice return.
P.S. Apparently Nuggets and Heat are looking at acquiring Moreland. WCS coming? Another smokescreen?

This is easily the most interesting draft day I've EVER had as a Kings Fan....I don't think we will ever see something like this again.

At what point will "ongoing draft/lottery discussion" thread be closed in favor of this one? Would be simpler to have this be the only one active starting now. I already have carpal tunnel from toggling twitter and the various open threads here.

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those drafts where there is all this build up and rumors and what ifs only for Vlade to stay pat at 6 and take best player available and call it a day.

I wouldn't be surprised if we stay at 6 and take someone and go home. I'm not even against that. We can get a good player there.

I think the draft overall could be batsh1t crazy though. So much potential for surprise picks and trades. Could be a wild night.

We may even buy a 2nd rounder, not sure who they would target though as we didn't work out many good 2nd round prospects. Maybe target a Euro - maybe someone like Malutinov, Hernangomez or Gudaitis?

Napier going crazy about kissing Cousins a**! Dan Fegan isn't running the Sacto Kings. Nothing in Cousins contract where you have to pet his head! ....Enough of this nonsense! If Demarcus truly doesn't want to play for the Kings, Vlade Divac doesn't have to trade him! I'm more inclined to go with a George Karl resume! George Karl is the coach, Bratz is the GM and Vlade is running the basketball team....George Karl is not running the Sacramento Kings. Fans wanted Karl, now that don't. Now we hear Karl doesn't want Cousins! Who cares! Demarcus played the best basketball of his career once Karl came on! Everybody needs to shut up and do their jobs! Ok?
