Vlade said both are staying. Karl said he'll be nice if Cousins is nice. It's Cousins turn to return Karls text with a polite response. Then we can all move forward.
Cousins is under contract and has no leverage until the final year of his contract. He will play hard, even if he has a frown on his face. He can't poison the locker room without regaining the rep thst kept him off previous All Star teams and U.S.A. basketball teams. So he'll be good.
Win a few games and this will all be behind us. This is the price of having a legit coach. The coach won't bend to the players. He molds them. Phil never cut Kobe any slack. The biggest lesson Cousins learned from being cut by USA basketball was that no matter how good he is, he can be cut if he doesn't buy in. That's what Karl is trying to tell DMC.

I finally got a chance to view the Karl interview. I'm not really upset by it to be honest. I actually like what he said.

I see that as the Cousins camp did ask for a trade and coach is challenging him to step up. This will either be a very smart move by Karl or a huge mistake.

Exactly! This whole thing that seems like the sky is falling came from a single source with a single comment and we don't even know who the source is or what the exact comment was. We have now moved on from Cousins vs. Karl to who leaked the comment and what their master plan is.
Let's have some truth here, no one on this site knows what is going on behind the scenes and we are going to take sides not based on the facts that we don't know, but on our biases of how we feel about these two, period.

Then maybe you might consider not coming on this forum. This is our franchise player and future who's currently in more rumors than any other player around the NBA. Of course people are going to talk about anything which comes out. That's what forums are for.
If you just want to keep acting like it's ridiculous to consider American media while you type it from somewhere in Germany, that really adds nothing to the conversation. Furthermore, you're talking to the fan base who's dealt with more rumors and more sources than any other team recently due to the relocation saga, then all the crap that transpired this last year. We have a pretty good gauge on who to listen to, who not to. We really don't need you constantly popping in, pretending this is somehow similar to your football media overseas and instead we should close up conversation because "rumors....".

At some point if Cousins cannot get along with any coaches we bring in then we might have to look at moving him. The Kings screwed up when firing Malone who had Cousin's respect, but every coach before and since then didn't seem to connect with Cousins. If all this is true then it might be time to trade Cousins. I am not about to sacrifice coach after coach until Cousin's finds one he likes.

So if both are staying this basically becomes a TRUE win-now year, either we improve this year or Cousins will need to be moved creating a full blown rebuild. The longer we try to keep Cousins past this year the move leverage it gives him in dictating where he wants to go thus limiting what we get back. After everything this organization has put him thru, I don't think firing Karl will do anything to change Cousins mind if this year is another 28 win bust.
I'm still wondering if it's Cousins that was already mentally out the door once Karl got there, so Karl is saying "if you don't want to be here then let's get rid of him" or if it's "I don't like Cousins and I want him out. So in turn, Cousins wants out." I think it's the latter, but there's a small chance it's the former.
That's true, I can't assume that, I have no idea Cousins' camp has known or assumed themselves. I do find it hard to believe that this has been some huge plot created months in advance. Karl has only been here for a few months. I agree with jcwkings, Karl came here expecting to coach Cousins, not trade him, that's a tough task to convince ownership to do that. If that was the case I'm sure Karl would have talked with ownership about trading Cousins before taking the job.

Ya, this is also the same guy who stood up and said firing Malone was the right decision, as was promoting Corbin to full-time head coach and blasted the coverage around that.
That worked out well.
Guys like Amick, Stein, Woj, Windhorst, Bruski aren't hacks, as much as a few here want to attack them because they don't like the news. It's interesting to watch a few attempt to convince themselves there's nothing to see here and imply the issue is actually with these guys, who have a pretty decent to good track record, especially when you stack that up against our incompetence.

i'd hardly ever refer to the sacramento bee's coverage of the kings in a complimentary manner, but it's definitely nice to see a local guy lambasting the ridiculousness of the national coverage on these boogie trade rumors. it's embarrassing that such rumor-mongering is so often passed off as "news."
