Ok who can give me an update after the day's developments? I'm up through about 6 am this morning... I can't read though (Don't want to read through) the last ten pages to parse out the nuggets. In a few words... What are the highlights of the last ten hours?
Cousins hasn't been traded, but because Cuz and Karl don't get along, he might get traded. Vlade says there will not be a Cuz trade. Karl was reported to have tried to orchestrate a Cuz trade; Napier says no to that; latest report has Karl stating: FIBS and LIES. Waiting to hear the specifics.

Karl sure is making some elliptical answers to some straight-forward questions from Jim Crandall about the Cousins matter. When asked if he is interested in trading Cousins, he says he is interested in building the Kings and making it better. Karl was asked the same question; gave same answer.

i noticed Karl wouldn't give a straight up yes or no answer when asked if he wanted Cousins traded. Just stuff like "We are interested in making this team better. He is our best player and if he comes commited then i am committed to making him the best player he can be"

Ok, so we're assuming it was PDA or perhaps a cousins suitor who made the leaks... maybe PDA did it on behalf of the Lakers to earn gerbil points. A friend to all is a friend to none.

I believe that Karl is telling the truth. Lies made up to get Cousins out. Who propagated these lies? The lakers? PDA? The NBA?
Most likely?

Karl DID say stuff to that effect, to our GM of the time. It may or may not have gone very far. A good candidate for timing is right about the time he opened his mouth and vomited out the "nobody's untradeable stuff".

Months later PDA regurgitates it, and or Fegan (Cousins' agent) regurgitates it as part of an effort to literally get Cousins to the Lakers. Remember that one. That agent is not our friend, and he's the same guy who forced Howard out of Orlando and to the Lakers.

napear's talking a buncha nonsense, per the usual. who, exactly, has been kissing demarcus cousins' ass? vivek ranadive and vlade divac, for making simple and direct statements to the media in response to questions about whether or not demarcus will be traded? pete d'alessandro, who lobbied for the firing of the one coach that demarcus has trusted since arriving in the nba? george karl, who has yet to walk back his statement that no one on the kings is untradable? i see no evidence of any ass-kissing whatsoever in the actions of this regime since the start of last season. in fact, i mostly see a franchise that has, unintentionally or not, alienated demarcus cousins at nearly every. single. turn.

personally, i don't give a sh** if some of cousins' ex-teammates didn't like playing with him. half of jordan's teammates didn't like playing with him. all of kobe's teammates have hated playing with him. great players aren't always easy to get along with. great players aren't always easy to play with. great players aren't always easy to coach. if more than a handful of demarcus' teammates since arriving in the nba had been worth a damn, i might consider it a minor problem that cousins isn't an easy personality. but until the kings put something other than a patchwork roster around him, i'm hardly going to shed a tear for the feelings of the very same scrubs that fans were happy to see depart in the first place...

Yes, I think this is exactly what happened. What bothers me is that Karl has probably not said he wants Cousins traded. I think he considers it because he does have his doubts about Cousins. What REALLY angers me is the way the media is driving this wedge between Cuz and the FO. It is a below the belt move to try to get either A) higher ratings for the NBA and or B) give a huge market team another championship. This tactic that we are witnessing is truly disgusting.

and that's george karl in a nutshell. he always has to be the biggest ego in the room. he always has to be the dominant personality on any team he coaches. he regularly clashes with his best players, and he loves to play games in the media. he won't give a straight answer because he doesn't want to give a straight answer. he would much rather send a message than ensure that the team heads into the offseason focused on its goals with as few distractions as possible. he's very much a "me first" coach in all the negative ways that people like to paint certain "me first" players...

Phil Jackson was/is like this too. In the same way that you can put up with a player's attitude if they're superbly talented sometimes you put up with a me-first coach if they get results and George Karl has always gotten results. The danger is in George Karl pissing off DeMarcus so much that it gets in the way of winning games. DeMarcus does play well when he has a chip on his shoulder-- that might be part of Karl's game plan. For the time being, I'm okay with them settling their differences behind closed doors. And if it does become a problem, I think Vlade is smart enough to know which is more valuable to the franchise.

That's about as good as you're going to get from Karl. He won't admit that he's wrong because he doesn't think he's wrong. However, this is Karl saying he will work with Cousins professionally.

Nailing it. Yet again.

This is what I think happend based on info we have.

DMC and Karl dont connect in Karls 30 game stint, little comminication between the two. DMC's agents went to FO privately and say they would like Cousins moved at end of season. Karl gets word of this and because no relationship between he and player exists goes to FO and says he needs players who are commited. Karl asks for opinion on DMC from teammates, enough negative opinions exist where conversations are had that FO should explore moving Cousins, with the basis that he is not commited to the future and chemistry issues exist with teammates. PDA is let go and waits for the right moment(draft week) to leak what should be an internal process of rehabilitation.

Fegan and PDA probably coordinate their leaks. Fegan with goal to get DMC to big market, PDA to stick it to the Kings and open the possibility of Cuz yo Denver move.

I'm curious what everyone's definition of a leak is? Are we suggesting PDA calls the media and spreads falsities while twisting his mustache? Or does the media call him for inside info and he reveals turmoil and the media blows it out of proportion? Not a defense of PDA, agents and the like, just curious.

It's only a game called pro basketball, controlled by millionaires and billionaires with GIGANTIC SIZE EGOES. I prefer not to get too worked up over Kings ongoing machinations since have no control over any of it - except to support or not support with my hard earned $.

A leak is providing inside information that a reporter wouldn't normally have access to and probably shouldn't. It doesn't matter who calls who.
