One AND ONLY Cousins trade rumors thread

Now we got rumors of Staukas and Gay trades, along with the Cousins trade. Everyone is getting traded! lol I'm just going to sit back and treat all these rumors for what it is... RUMORS! can't wait for draft night to be over with

It's truly amazing how we can look at the Malone situation in Dec and how bad that was, then as a franchise decide "oh yeah, you haven't seen anything yet, let's show everyone how we can take it to a whole other level" only about 6 months later.

Now we've got even more leaks, Cuz demanding a trade, Karl going against Vlade and shopping our franchise player, while apparently the entire roster is up for sale with Nik and Rudy singled out.

We took Dec and made in 5X worse. Vivek's goal appears to be to surpass the Maloof legacy. Unbelievable.

Now this just makes no sense. First, Rondo's value is shot to the point Kings cap space will be more than enough, and Kings can always S&T for him. I'm sure Dallas strapped for personnel would take JT to boost their big man depth. Plus Rondo is very far from Karl's PG. (don't want Rondo anywhere near this team regardless)
Sounds like those reports, that Vlade likes Hezonja, basically since they are both from Europe. Say, Kings need shooting or dunks, find some good reason other than availability and proximity.
Above and beyond that the article states that Rondo is "intrigued" by a one year contract in Sacramento to rebuild his perception league wide.

So trading Gay (who just signed an extension) for a one year rental of Rondo after which you either have to give him a monster deal in the summer the cap explodes or lose him for nothing when he signs elsewhere? That's not 4 steps ahead Vivek. That's 8 steps behind.

I get that you want to make a splash to open your new arena but if that were really the case you would have kept Malone on as coach and let things build naturally.

I've gotten so tired of trying to parse the words of D'Alessandro, Ranadive, Cousins, Fegan, Karl, even Divac & Malone to try and figure out the true narrative here. And so tired of trying to to figure out how to assign blame for the awful decisions that have been made. From letting Evans go for nothing, signing Landry, trading for Williams, letting Thomas go for nothing, signing Royce White, drafting Stauskas after already drafting Ben, pushing Shareef out the door, trading away 2nd rounders left and right as if they have no value, failing to preserve cap space, trying to "win now" despite a lack of talent, constant media leaks, firing Malone, Signing Corbin, and now apparently hiring Karl as well as the complete and utter dysfunction that seems to surround this Kings team. I'm at the point where I don't care who "pulled the trigger" or whose decision any of these things are. When it comes down to it Vivek Ranadive is the managing owner of this team and it all falls at his feet.

We have a terrible owner, a rudderless franchise and the only star player on the team wants out and I'm finding it harder and harder to blame him.

Either fix things with DMC or you might as well blow the whole thing up. The idea that Cousins wants to be traded, the team seems (depending on whose report you read) willing to accommodate him and yet Vivek still believes the team will make the playoffs next year? Delusional.

But here's the thing. If Boogie wants out and Karl wants him out and there's simply no way around it then he's going to be traded. I'm furious about how things got to this point but if I'm Vlade and I've just been dropped into this mess what do I do? Because that's the one guy among the Kings organization (coaches, FO, ownership) that I actually have respect for at this point. If you're Vlade, what are your options? Tell Boogie and King George to make nice? Deal Cousins? I actually feel for Divac at this point.

And if there's no way forward except to trade Cousins, it has to be a full rebuild. Has to. But while I think I'm done as a Kings fan regardless when/if Boogie is dealt, I think the ultimate kick in the teeth would be some sort of garbage Cousins for Lawson/Faried type deal in the hope of being a playoff team right away. As I saw from a Sacramento fan on twitter this morning - "When I die I want the Sacramento Kings to lower my casket into the ground just so they can let me down one last time".

So completely frustrating to be a fan right now.

I can hardly believe that Nik Stauskas is "rumor worthy". This is probably as notorious as he will ever be in the NBA - the tomato sauce last year and now a TRADE RUMOR??!! "Mom, look at the blogs - I'm the subject of a TRADE RUMOR!" Congrats kid - you made it.

I actually like Nik, but he is a nobody come on - on par with Jimmer.

Lawson, Faried, and #7, and... they take on Landry somehow some way.
Oh, basically the trade I asked about last week in the "Personnel Moves" section except I had them give us Nurkic as well, then had my thread locked because "it's too stupid to exist." I was just reading the tea leaves trying to find the best deal possible IF it came to that. That said, I really REALLY hope we can make it work with Cousins. Even with Nurkic, we'd be better off keeping Cousins, without Nurkic, I wouldn't even answer the phone for this deal.

This was all set up to happen the second Malone was fired behind everyones back. Fegan/Cousins decided right then and there that it's over

So here's what I don't get right now.

Sure, Cousins is unhappy, but isn't he locked up for two more years before hitting free agency?

That's the tough part now. If the reports are true its pretty much impossible to reconcile. I don't think Vlade takes any of the blame, we'll just have to hope he can build a winning team another way. On the other hand if the reports are true and yet somehow these guys get together and get past all this I would say Vlade is nothing short of a miracle worker and his hiring was inspired. I'll hope for the latter but I don't expect it at this point.

If DMC goes, he takes me and my money with him. Yes, even to the Lakers. And I will not revisit my Fandom until vivek dies or gets the hell out.

I said it. Even the Lakers. No one deserves a team like this. You guys all deserve better.

This!!!

**** Karl. His ass is retiring in 3 years anyways. Team Cuz all the way. Vlade needs to tell that POS to get in line and STFU and coach.

Thanks for firing Malone, Vivek. Idiot.
Let's not forget Fegan is trying to force the issue too. By many accounts, this was all smoldering under the surface until the agent took it public.

I remember some folks here voicing this exact fear when Cousins first hired him.

You nailed it Funky. From a basketball standpoint, they have to start over and the idea that they would rather have veteran than the 2 pick is nuts.

Except the problem is that our ownership group's business plan and most like financing requires them to be good enough to maintain the extremely aggressive prices they've set for the 16-17 and 17-18 seasons. That doesn't work with a rebuild and they don't want to loose a fortune or sell.

So, they will make any move that puts us in the 40-45 win range for 2-3 more seasons, no matter what, even if massively sacrifices long term potential and cements our reputation as the most bizarre place in the league.

Really? You're gonna go to a guy who hasn't won 30 games in his NBA career, has already run a few other coaches out of town, and ask him who they should get as a coach??? He's an EMPLOYEE of the Kings. Somebody needs to step up and take control of this situation and asking Demarcus who should be the coach is not the answer.
Hey, hi Grant! How ya doing?

Yell at any kids on the radio yet today? Well, the days still young.

Remember when some of us got bashed for "overreacting" to the Malone decision regarding the far reaching implications?

I was one of those. Well maybe not overreacted but I was pretty damn pissed.

Malone better get a standing ovation when he comes back as Denver's coach.

Hopefully this whole "rumor' gets squashed soon..

The only thing about this that worried me in the slightest was that we were close to draft day when a lot of trades tend to happen. BUT there are a lot of rumors floating around near draft day as well. I think this was one of them.

Aaron Bruski: Echoing the @carmichaeldave similar report, sources have reported multiple instances of Pete D polling people ‘Karl or Cousins’ for months.

What a mess. Despite Vlade coming on, this whole thing has remained just as toxic an environment as it was earlier this season. Goes to the top of the ladder. Vivek.

Saying "we're not going to trade Cuz" while sitting courtside at Warriors games isn't going to fix this, Vivek.

If this is true, what the hell is PDA polling people about this for...he's a the god damn GM for christ sakes and he should be the one who makes this decision. Vivek really struck out with this loser...

Just seen Bruski's tweets, but other then that I havent followed this at all...

what is going on?!!?

BTW on the leaks/ PDA thing

Meyers is connected throughout the NBA, used to do broadcasts for LAL. Sources believe LAL/ESPN reports were leaked by Fegan.

This makes sense... this sounds like a colluded effort by Cousin's agent and the Lakers to force a trade. The Lakers want their next great center and Cousin's agent wants him there.

Yea. Once the Malone firing happened it was over. Fegan would probably have used any coach the Kings hired to create a rift between Cousins and the Kings and get his guy out

Fegan is notorious for getting small market superstars into bigger markets and better situations. He was hired right after the relocation fiasco. Cousins he could have demanded leaving and not signed his deal at that point and it would have been totally justified. But being the loyal guy he is he gave us a second chance and even bought into Malone. He is perfectly justified in asking for a trade at this point, this dysfunctional stuff was suppose to be over by now.

Theres no one to throw this crap onto anymore, PDA and Mully are gone, now more than ever the blame clearly falls on Vivek.
