I have always liked Gentry, but you can't get him right now, and he may not want to be part of the organization due to the way they handled Malone.
Considering he's the one who told Malone they were looking to stab him in the back, I'm pretty sure he wants no part of Sacramento.

Swing for the fences and take a stab at Calipari. He can draw free agents and if he bombs as an NBA coach again hand someone else the reigns after the talent base is built lol

JVG but that ain't happening. From that list, you have to say Karl is the pick of the lot but you would still be crossing your fingers and hoping that it works out as there is a real risk of failure there.

given the vision vivek has for us, karl is the best man for the job.

whether or not that is the right vision for us is irrelevant. this will go very pear shaped if its someone like mullin who he picks to roll this out. Vivek may justify mullin's hire as being a visionary and changing things up but our only shot at actually making this work is with Karl.

Traits Kings coach should have

1). Gets on well with Cousins
2). Gets on well with Cousins
3). Gets on well with Cousins
4). Has the team playing D
5). Forces quality shot selection

Aside from number 5 I thought Malone had the first 4 done well, to me it doesn't even matter at this point as long as they coach can bring the best out of Cousins and have the other 4 guys competing every night no matter who they are that's the coach we want (had).

Why is everyone voting for karl? I dont think he would get along with boogie, just like he didn't with melo
Karl is the best option available, given our current options, and most of us in the Karl camp are there precisely because his resume would keep FO meddling at bay. No way Mullin would try telling Karl what to do.

George Karl just few hours after Malone fired said he'd gladly talk to Kings if they would talk to him. He's an NBA lifer and would have no problem being in Sac.
I stand corrected. Didnt know he came out and said that.

WTF are we going after Mullin and Mark Jackson then? Jeebus, Vivek is friggin clueless!!

That's why it is a mystery why we supposedly haven't contacted him. I don't think Vivek is clueless but will breath a sigh of relief only if/when Karl is signed. Seems like a team like we have would be fun as your last hurrah.

Vivek Ranadive with PDA as lead assistant. During timeouts Vivek will shower the team with quotes from his tech buddies, constantly say "listen to this crowd, the best fans in the world" and "Look guys I surround myself with smarter people than me" all while PDA laughs at all his bosses jokes with his nervous gerbil laugh.
almost a beautiful scenario as another scenario described on this forum:

"The only thing that could make this better would be if DeMarcus made an epic return on Tuesday on ESPN, went for 40/10/10, game-winner over Perkins, picks up a mic at the end of the game and says "Its April Fools in India" and Malone runs out with Vivek piggy-backing. He drops the mic and confetti comes down."

Because this:

Barring that, Greg Popovich's protege, Mike Malone.

I'm still skeeved. Malone has a 20 year NBA head coaching career ahead of him, with someone. I wanted the stability that brings to an organization. Look at what the Jazz had with Sloan, Spurs and Pop. These teams contended every single year.

We may end up with George Karl, and that would be not the worst thing. But he's only got 5 years max in him. And then Boogie and whatever crew we have assembled have to readjust to a whole new coach.

I'm still shocked. And I don't buy for a second that this was "part of the plan".

I'm one of the guys that was impressed with Vivek and even his progressive management philosophies, but his catch phrases have worn thin, and it really feels condescending now. Have the decency to speak to your fans like real people, and not use some completely plastic leadership jargon meant for a ****ing TED talk.

Say what you want about Cuban, and that he likes to stick his nose in the whole operation, but Cuban doesn't condescend. He does have original ideas. He speaks them, he may even try them on his team. But Cuban is not afflicted with the megalomanical nerd complex. I guess that's the difference between a nerd and a geek. Cuban's a geek. Vivek is displaying shades of the megalomanical nerd.
