Arrnet Moultrie got cut by the 76ers, he's 6'11 and athletic with a ok jumper (well in college anyway).
The problem with somebody who was cut by the 76ers is that it's hard to tell if they cut him because he's so bad he can't make an NBA JV team, or if they cut him because he's too good and might help them win more than 7 games this year.

I would actually be in favor of the Sixers just preemptively forfeiting the season. They don't really have any business playing games since they clearly don't want to win any of them anyhow.

josh smith has been stinking it up. now is our chance to buy low.
Idk man you heard his back n forth with faried, Smiths a nutcase.
Just wait till mid-December for Hibbert when the pacers are 5-22.
I'd rather have the problem of guarding elite PFs who will score regardless than have the problem of 2 low IQ players jacking up 21ft jumpers over and over.

Only go after smith if we got no chance at Hibbert.

If Hibbert continues his play like during the Pacers' first game I doubt they will let him go.

I haven't followed Smith since his Atlanta days but if you put him on this team make him the third option at best, tell him to focus on his defense and running the floor I think he becomes a very good player for us.

but whether that kind of role would sit well with him I have no idea, seems he thinks he's a superstar going by his comments, I'd swing for the fences with this guy though.

Ya that's true

On the Smoth ordeal I don't like the wat piston fans are talking boy him hate to bring in another brain dead player but. They are talking landry/JT for him I'd hate him here but if all if takes is that plus Ray I'm down.

If it took both Landry and JT to get him, I'd say no. No way. No..no..noooo. We can't have Reggie and Hollins play 15+minutes a night... hell D-Will might get the nod before Hollins.. that would be terrible.

I think we need to keep at least one of two, or trade with our other pieces.

The Nuggets rookie center is lookingn very good and Shaw loves Mosgov. McGee could be odd man out at the deadline
I would love to see a McGee and cousins tandem. McGee is an excellent shotblocker and his IQ has improved from the few games i've seen of him this year that he at worst is an improvement over JT in the IQ department. With cousins passing ability, if teams help off McGee, he simply takes flight toward the rim with his length and athleticism for an easy ally oop over the top.

Would much rather have this combo than the Josh Smith scenario. I thinnk that would be a disaster. No way anyone will convince that guy to stop shooting and be a role player.

Not sure what it would take to get McGee. Any deal I'd assume would include the Williams ender contract.

At the moment, not counting Hollins, and I don't count Hollins, we have two players that are 6'11". Everyone else is in the 6'8" range. Right now, whenever Cousins comes out of the game, were getting killed. For that reason alone, if we were to trade for Smith, or whomever, I wouldn't want JT to be involved, unless the trade involves aother player with similar length. I love what Reggie Evans does, but he can't defend the Nowitzki's and Gasol's of the world. Moreland, at 6'10" would be a welcome addition, but obviously the Kings don't think he's ready for big time yet.

I watched Kentucky play last night and they have three, maybe four players on that team that are shot blockers. We have none, unless you count Cuz, who is doing a much better job this year.

I would think the offer would be JT and DWill. Be in the right range contractwise. Would depend on their perspective, do they want to dump him, or are their elements of that front office, which has completely dispersed, who still think he's their huckleberry. They would get a serviceable big and maybe even a Gallinari safety net in DWill, next year Dwill would come off the books, so they'd save about half of the McGee salary, but they'd be stuck with JT for one more year. So do they want that extra $6mil next year? Or would they rather have it in 2 years?

Financially its:
14-15: JT + DWill $12.7, McGee $11.3
15-16: JT $6.4mil, MGee $12.0mil
16-17: JT $6.8mil

Agreed the only problem is the assets we have. I'm sure Cleveland will want a shot blocker too and they can offer Waiters/Memphis 1st/ multiple 2nd round picks unless they refuse to give up waiters.
But I do like A McGee/DMC over smith we just don't have shots for smith in the lineup.

No he's not, yes JT made a huge mistake but that was not the reason we lost the game and JT is no where near as dumb as McGee, but in saying that the freak athletic ability and shot blocking I would welcome. I guess the McGee thing would be similar to taking a chance on Rudy Gay and I think McGee pairs really well with both Cuz and in particular Landry McGee also tends to thrive with pass first PGs (Andre Miller) and I think with the upgrade at the PG position with DC it could make it workable.

McGee is a big risk but I would not be against it.

My targets would be Horford, Hibbert, and Taj Gibson, in no particular order. I don't want Smith but if we can get Drummond I would pretty much be calling playoffs instantly. Any one of those guys and I'm calling playoffs.

I used to want Hibbert but Boogie can't stay out of fouls playing the 5 at the 4 he won't last 20min.
And getting Holford will cost Ben even though is still do it

I can think of another cheap young big that might be attainable...how about Kevin Seraphin from Washington? there is a lot of depth in DC with Nene, Gortat, Humphries, Gooden and Blair on the roster...he is improving every year and has made really nice strides as a young big with good defensive potential.

I like Seraphin, but isn't he more of a scorer of the bench? Would he compliment Cousins game?

J.Smith is a risk, but his passing ability would really help this team. I think the narrative about him chucking Detroit out of games, is very similar to the Toronto Rudy thing. I would still take the risk. If we talk about players like McGee vs J.Smith, there is a huge gap talentwise.

Smith can score efficiently only from the post, where Kings already barely have space with Boogie and Rudy. McGee is better finisher, rebounder and rim protector. At least he was before meeting Brian Shaw: rebounds nosedived, foul rate and TOs soared.

The difference is Rudy was chucking at Toronto, but did not chuck as much in Memphis. He was also very inefficient because he was asked to be the #1 guy, and he isn't. Smith has been chucking no matter what team he has been on and no matter the role. He has not learned that he is most effective close to the basket. I have serious doubts he would learn that here.

Is Smith acutally a worse Midrange Shooter than JT?
He can score in transition, from the dribble and in the post. Ofc his Jumpshot is not his strength, but do his strengths cover his weakness? He rebounds, is a very good held defender and can handle and pass the ball at an elite level for a PF.
Smith is a risky move, but we can use any help in moving the ball and playing interior D that we can get.
I expected a lot of McGee, but so far he couldn't live up to the expectations. He blocks shots, but in my opinion lacks Basketball-IQ. I don't know, if he can turn his career around.

Just watched Detroit vs Memphis on League Pass. Nearly every Jumpshot Smith has taken was late in the shotclock, leaving him with no other options. Could be a sign, that he listened to all the discussion over the last few days, right after the Faried-comment.

Even though the team is playing well, it would be false, not to look at ways, how to improve the roster. The starting PF position or the backup Center seem to be the weakness we have.

Not enough shots available for him he would take shots away from our big 2 and Ben would get under 7 shots as a result. rather look for trades to improve the bench or McGee.

Sorry, but the facts just don't bear you out. In the years Smith played for Atlanta he shot 46.3% overall from the floor. He averaged 12.8 shots a game, and of those, 1.4 shots a game were three point attempts. While at Detroit, last year, and including up to now this year, he's shot 39.2% overall from the floor while averaging 15.8 shots per game. Of those, 2.5 shots were three point attempts. There is no comparison to what he did in Atlanta and what he's done in Detroit. He was a very efficient player in Atlanta, and not so in Detroit. And that 2.5 three point attempts is somewhat skewed by including this years totals through 10 games. Since he's only averaged 1.7 three point attempts so far this year, while he averaged over 3 attempts last season. He is in fact, following the exact model of Rudy Gay.

I want to point out that this team is playing very, very well and yet people want to make risky trades. Let's not take a chance and ruin what we have.
I tend to agree with you if a trade affects the main core of the team. However, if it shores up our depth and strengthens an area where were weak, I'm all for it. I really don't have a major problem with our starting unit right now. My problem is with our bench and lack of height, or should I say, talented lack of height. While I wouldn't turn down McGee, depending on what we would have to give up to get him, but he's not gods gift to basketball. He gets burned on defensive rotations, and clogs up things on the offensive end. Off the bench I could live with him. But I don't think I'd start him next to Cousins. Anyway, just my humble opinion.

Josh Smith has been averaging 3.2 three point field goal attempts while with Detroit, versus 1.4 in Atlanta. He takes 16 shots a game for Detroit counting last season and this season. That means 20% of his shots are threes. You were right, I was wrong, but I was wrong because I thought his stats at Detroit were on par with his career averages, which they haven't been (they have been way lower). He has shot 41% for them thus far, including last season and a miserable 26% from three. I should have checked my stats before posting, but there is still no guarantee he becomes a Rudy Gay and becomes more efficient. Also since 2010, his 3 point field goal attempts have been in a general incline.
