Do you have a time-machine, because Carl can't dunk with ease for a few years now?
If you think "dunk with ease" means a "thunderous dunk", I would say you may be right. Actually, I see Landry more of a finessed player.

Tell me honestly, do you really think Landry at 6' 7.75" (without shoes) and still an active NBA player cannot dunk the ball with ease?

Have you seen a player under the rim who is at least 6' 6"?:p

The ability to be productive offensively without DMC is what happens you dump all your scorers.

I will say this though: last season Ray Mac was more productive than any guard they currently have on their roster, so I don't understand why he isn't given the rock and asked to make things happen for the second unit. Sessions is the worst guard in the conference.

I have an answer. :) We paid money for a vet PG in Sessions. Although many if not most people are ready to pull the plug on Ramon, I'd give him a little longer and then, assuming he fails, plug in Ray.

Paying for crap doesn't make it less crappy. IDK what the front office was thinking this year.

Ray really never played in any meaningful games. He was in Reno most of the early part of the seaosn, and only started playing a lot when we entered tank mode. He had some productive games. He also had a 3 game stretch where he shot 9-40.

For comparison purposes, Ray vs Ramon, last april both played 40 mpg for teams going nowhere. Ramon outscored Ray 16.6 to 12.6, outshot him .420 to .378 (also taking fewer shots than Ray), had fewer assists 6.0 to 6.6, got to the line more (shooting 86% on 5.3 FTA vs .769 on 1.6 attempts for Ray). If you want advanced stats, last season Ramon had a better PER as well (16.04 vs 9.74).

Ramon isn't even the worst guard on this roster, much less the conference.

Sessions has a much longer, and frankly, more productive career to this point, including last season. I realize Sessions has been awful, and defensively especially, he always has been. Ramon also, very slightly, has a better PER than Ray this season. And he's playing about as bad as possible. Ramon is IT light. Why we got such a defensive liability, I can't say. I also am not sure why he's struggled so badly at times. I'm just not really that sure Ray is any better. In the opportunity he got last season, he certainly wasn't.

It may be true Ray will end up better than Ramon, and I am fine with playing Ray. But Ramon is, based on his history, the better option at the moment. We really have no idea what Ray can do.

I agree that Sessions is the best choice for the moment. He is using up his edge over Ray. Ray's "savvy" edge over Sessions will be the difference in the long run. Ray has the tools to be a smart, team basketball player much like Stauskas. These are guys I want to keep.

i re-watched the game.

the first grizzlies run started in the second quarter because of nik's poor defense. he was much worse than sessions. however, it's no excuse for the outcome because the kings had a 15 point lead going into the 4th. everyone was choking defensively in that quarter. collison, landry, and thompson did a horrible job defending the pick and roll. everyone lost focus on defense during transition, and when they didn't they would constantly over-help, letting the grizzlies get open looks anyway. there were judgment errors as well. late in the game, ben mclemore crashed the offensive board when he should have been running back on defense.

the offense wasn't as bad, but the kings showed an inability to make the right plays or reads, and they were impatient (not waiting for picks to be set).

they were mentally shaken by the grizzlies' run.

The problem is that if you wait much longer, then his consistently poor play will have put us in a position to lose multiple games. If we make a run down the stretch, a couple games (or 1 game) could very easily be the difference between 8th and 9th place

You are assuming he will continue to play poorly. How do you know that? If I could predict that he would play poorly, which his career stats do not indicate, of course I'd remove him.

Going on what he has shown this season with this team, I've seen no signs that he will turn things around...other than some scoring.

I like RayMac, because he values the ball and plays consistent defense. He also looks to assist whenever possible

Discouraging, isn't it? That's why I say he has to be told something other than he is the defensive focus. It's a misuse of his talents.
