Now, First of All™, I didn't create this thread to build a statue to Ben McLemore, or to tear him to pieces, so fans and haters alike can relax. McLemore's offense, except for the handful of possessions where he hasn't been given time to do anything but react, has been very poor. Pretty much all of the criticism of him on that end of the floor has been earned, and is, for the most part, fair.
His defense, on the other hand, has been solid, and seems to be progressing towards continual improvement in that direction. And, while the mistakes he's made on the court have stood out (in no small part, IYAM, due to the vacuum that the SG position has been for us offensively, and the resultant spotlight and attention that has led to), McLemore has quietly done a good job of doing many of the little things that people claim they're talking about when they say they want players with "high basketball IQ." Which leads me to the following question:
When we drafted this kid, many of us thought that he was going to be the next Ray Allen. But, what if he can develop into the next Tony Allen? Would that really be the worst thing in the world?
