Boogie & Rudy's Excellent Adventure

So awesome!! Way to go DMC and Rudy.

Sacramento Bee put this on page C-6 by the way. I wrote a scathing blast to everyone in charge over there - cannot believe they did not at least put it on C-1 if not the front page? Where would they put the story if DMC flipped off a fan?

Hate the stupid Bee, really hate it. Buy it for fireplace kindling only.

This news didn't break till late last night.

Woot! Considering Gay is the only SF on the roster, we might see 2 Kings start in FIBA! Pretty cool.

And why the took Plumlee over Korver is beyond me. Why the hell wouldn't you bring the best off-ball/catch and shoot shooter in the world? You could probably get Korver 5-6 open 3's a game with how prolific everyone else is at drawing attention

I still can't get over that Plumlee was even allowed to try out, much less make the team over Lillard, Wall, Milsap (all-stars this past season) etc. I just don't get it on any level.

Is this Mason or Miles, and does it matter?

Well not being nimble on stuff like this is what will finish off the print media, there is no reason to have local newspapers except as kindling. I still think the Bee has to figure out how to get this on the front page banner at least.

If they got the wire story on C-6, they could just as easily have gotten that same wire story on C-1 imo (but I admit I don't understand the operational nuances at the Bee)

I'd imagine there will be a large story tomorrow.

But yes, this is why print media is no good.

To be fair, espn barely had anything about it this morning either. The news broke at 1 am eastern. Kinda hard to get interviews in at that hour. I'm not defending the bee, just pointing out there are logistics involved here to explain the lack of a story. No one was expecting the news to come in a 1am.

Print papers have hard-coded deadlines. The fact they were able to get it in at all considering when the announcement was made is noteworthy. You can't just go around yelling "stop the presses" for a sports story unless it's the Kings winning a title or something. ;)

My copy of the paper didn't have the news in it. I must get an early print.
Deadline for the early edition is ... well ... earlier than the final edition. They have to get the paper printed and out for distribution.

I'm no fan of the Bee but this isn't something they had much choice about. I'm truly surprised they got it in the final.

Yeah, I live in the southern end of the county and I am sure that the first prints get sent out farther and the later prints stay in town.

It's said that Coach K went for size.

How about the Bee get us a good beat writer. When was the last article written by Jones? I thought Davidson did a great job last season covering local highschool and college sports. Give him the Kings to cover, and let the deadbeat Jones go back to La La land where he belongs. I'd love to have Matt Barrows cover the Kings, but all the 49ér fans would have a fit, myself included.

About all I ever see from hack Jason Jones is "my sources have confirmed Sam Amick's report". :) He's been mailing it in for a couple years. He's a Laker fan for chrissakes.

Even if you combined all 3 of them or however many there are it could not matter

Miles Plumlee was actually really good last season. Solid at everything, excellent rebounder, excellent in the PnR and transition, doesn't want shots offensively and tremendous hustle. Really high on Miles Plumlee after what he showed last year.

The Mason pick really was just a sickening "take my guy" ploy from Coach K. He's got promise as a young player certainly, but not near what should be on USA basketball

Cousins had an excellent defensive game; communicating to his teammates, cleaning the glass, blocking shots, and got a bunch of steals. Offensively he was a bit wild. Missed a couple bunny post moves, sometimes rushed shots underneath the rim in traffic, was poor from the FT line. Perhaps the pace is getting to Boogie's head. He looked like rookie Cousins out there on the offensive end. Slow down, big fella.

Rudy was pretty awesome. Besides the couple travels and the one or two times he got rebounded over (he's playing the stretch 4 role primarily), he was a menace in transition, attacking the rim, and even flashing some nice playmaking ability. Good stuff.
