Josh Smith?

If we could replace Gay with Smith and get a 3 point specialist at the SF while getting a pass first PG imo that would be the best way to go. Josh Smith is only a chucker if you allow him to be, he was by a wide margin the Pistons most talented player (the whole team was a mess aside from Drummond everyone was crap) in Sacramento he will by a wide margin be the 2nd most talented player behind Cousins. Could you imagine the amount of easy buckets him and Cousins will create between the MASSIVE amounts of steals and blocks between the two, Mclemore if he learns how to catch this year will be feasting off easy fastbreak points with his speed on the outlet.
I really think the positives of Josh Smith @PF with Cousins next to him outweight the negitives, he's also a very solid rebounder and he's averaged between 3-4 assists most his career he's literally a better passer than every Kings PF in the last 5 years combined (you could argue he would be our best passing player on the current Kings squad).
Also to me if you bust your ass on defence and play with great energy you at times have earned yourself a couple chucks, you got to reward a player sometimes. I don't beleive you can have Smith and Gay on the same team but that is a disaster waiting to occur.

I am of similar thinking! Fact is we have a number of average players on some rather largish contracts! I would like to keep JT as the 1st big off the bench that plays his 20-25mpg and backs up both PF and C! You could argue that he is too expensive but I would rather have him over Landry!
Bottom line is, you are always better of paying a more talented player a larger contract than having two average players get good money. We have $13M per year invested in both Landry and JT do swapping them for Smith who would be more productive than both of these guys, albeit still overpaid

Hi guys, first of all Id like to give u greetings from a big Kings fan from Brazil, I havent post here for a long time. I was about to start another Josh Smith thread, but found out you guys already had this and another one.. I just read that the Pistons have very strong interest in Isiah Thomas and I was thinking.. would you agree with me that a S&T of Isiah Thomas plus Jason Thompson or Derrick Williams would be enough for us to land Smith? Id like that move because like mentioned above Gay and Smith are very close friends to Rondo and we just drafted the best pure shooter .. a line up of Cousins, Smith, Gay, Stauskas/McLemore and Rondo would put us in playoff contention for sure.. what do you guys think? The point is how to get Rondo from Boston? Expirings + McLemore + 2017 1st rd pick?
With Vivek's hand, I think Sim Bhullar is gonna get Aaron Gray's 5 minutes per game and we'll probably add a vet like Nazr on the back-up C spot if we move JT, of which I'll be fine.

When did Smith develop such a good feel for the game? I dont get the impression that Smith is incredibly concerned with how many shots he needs to attempt. If we're looking for a running, passing, pf that brings shotblocking to the table then Smith is pretty high up the list. I've actually gotten pretty excited about this trade rumour and have been checking back on it often.
I would have liked this post, but I cannot agree with the Smith part. I will continue to believe getting him is a chance we just do not want/need to take. I felt the same way about Artest, and that was even with the great D Ron-Ron brought to the table. Smith is no Ron-Ron. (Meaning that the assets Smith would supposedly bring are nowhere close to what Artest brought ... )

The kings are pretty much up against the luxury tax line and mostly have ending contracts and either JT or Landry in a trade. McClemore may have some trade value here too.
A potential trade could be Carl Landry (or jason thompson), Derrick Williams and Ben McClemore for josh smith and Kyle singler.
Why kings do it? The kings move one of the many power forwards on the team for a overpaid PF that can block some shots and shot from the outside. Kyle singler gives him some more outside shooting. The kings only include McClemore if Detroit takes Landry instead of JT, thus keeping JT as the ideal 3rd big on the kings. If JT needs to be included then Ben McClemore is pulled out of the trade and replaced with expiring contract.
Why Detroit does it? They move a big contract and a bad fit between Drummond and Monroe. Rumor is Monroe wants smith traded before he resigns. Carl landry gives them offensive potential as third big. I can see this. Desperation to move Ben may start to set in with every passing summer league game lol. We have basically no other trade chips so if Ben loses value we're screwed. Smith is a swing for the fences kinda trade... a guy no good team would get excited about but a team like us would love to roll the dice on. I personally hate his game... low bball iq is not something I want more of. I far prefer JT to Smith but do see the potential IF Malone can somehow get threw to him.
I think the front office will trade for players if they make sense to upgrade the talent and if they fit in certain vision that the front office has but I think first of all, they wouldn't be prepared to take on long term salary. I think they are trying to create some cap space for next season.

As of now he has little value and with a straight up 1 on 1 trade, can bring little back because of his limited salary. His limited salary also, in my view, makes it relatively painless to hold on to him and see what happens. I think a serious discussion could at least wait until after the Summer Leqgue. I can't imagine his trade value dropping all that much in a few weeks.
How about the original rumored trade of Jason Thompson, derrick Williams and ender (Jason terry or outlaw) for josh smith?
A lot of the rumored trades that occurred before the draft is staring to come to fruition (I.e. Thornton and Jarret jack trade, etc). Maybe this trade gets completed soon so Detroit can finish signing Greg Monroe.

Actually skill level might be somewhere close, but decision-making isn't: in Toronto scrimmage he made quite a few impressive things, but it was under limited pressure. Speed up the game, and he cannot make the right play. Will it ever come, I don't know: mind is harder to train than muscle with just great work ethic.
Looks like the JT for Josh Smith trade talks are back on again.
I hope Jason Terry goes in this trade, instead of D Will. Maybe they can get Dallas as the third team to facilitate this trade and take their man Jason Terry back to Dallas!
