2014 FIFA World Cup (contains spoilers)

So, is Croatia really that good or is Cameroon that bad?
Croatia are a pretty good team. Not amazing but solid with some very good players (Modric, Rakitic, Mandzukic). However, Cameroon have also been terrible. They're usually not that bad but a lot of problems within their camp - their plane almost didn't leave for Brazil due to arguments etc.. So an average team's problems were compounded. Assou-ekotto pretty much headbutted his teammate near the end, which was disgraceful. Hope he gets fined for that.

Cameroon is the worst team in the tournament right now. Mexico should have beat them 3-0. At least.

Considering how much money goes into the event, it's amazing how bad some of the teams' kits are.
Both US and Ghana struck me as particularly awful.

Sports fashion is a funny thing, since usually one designer can get on a roll and ruin multiple kits.
94 World Cup was horrific looking back.

The best group round I can remember (aside from team Japan absolutely sucking). Glad I stayed up late for the Argentina/Iran finish last night.

OMG. That guy makes Derek Fisher look like a rank amateur. He's holding his face...I'm guessing out of shame. I certainly didn't see any contact that could have resulted in the massive injury the Portuguese guy is complaining about.

We played dumb the last few minutes. We needed to try and maintain possession there and we kept giving a desperate team more chances to do something with the ball. I guess if there's any silver lining to such a heartbreaking ending (and really I'm still in shock) it's that the game with Germany wouldn't have mattered and now it's going to be more nail-biting drama. No doubt about it, this was our best shot though. Germany might be the favorite to win it all right now so a tie game would be a huge upset for us.

I still can't believe that the timekeeper called for five minutes of extra time. I mean, I'm hardly a soccer junkie, but I've seen enough matches that it's led me to believe that that's unusual.

Well, there was first ever in WC history drink water break in oppressive heat, humidity of contest played in Amazon rain forest. I believe that was at least 30 seconds for a swig by players and refs. 4 minutes extra time is not unusual at all in futbol matches and 5 minutes definitely not unheard of.

That was in the first half though and they already added 2 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the half. Or does it somehow carry over to the second half too? I thought that was a little unusual myself. According to the announcers it was initially only 4 minutes and got bumped up to 5 minutes during the US substitution. Regardless you have to play until they blow the whistle. It was a tough break but they're not going to take it back.

I forgot "historical" water break was in first half. Anyway, here's bit more details on it but as you said both teams must play until the end every time regardless.
