Malone calls out team for no defense

No realistic options. People talk about McCallum, but he's a rookie 2nd round pick with maybe 30 minutes total career time on the floor. Until there is a realistic option to IT, you have to expect he'll continue logging big minutes,
Does anybody, besides myself, find it ridiculous that IT gets 42 minutes playing time, including all 24 minutes in the 2nd half, the very next game after Coach Malone's statement that he couldn't continue to play players that weren't playing defense?

Color me confused.
Even Jordan got a rest in the second half. IMO at the very least IT should sit the first 4 minutes of the 4th quarter. I have been pretty pleased with Malones coaching of our beloved Kings. Well except fot the occasional public tirade:mad: But this playing of IT for the complete 2nd half of games is stupid. Give the little man a blow Coach!!!

In the post game comments, he also talked about how this was an offensive team and that they got two good quarters of defense this game and would try for three the next.

Thanks Bloom, actually watching his post game interview along with the others put the comments into perspective. I think someone already pointed out he emphasized it WAS NOT just Marcus and that is what I got out of it. I hope he backs his words with action.
No Problem.

Glad to know that Coach's post game rant wasn't just about Marcus but about the whole team. But I'm still not convinced that taking Marcus out of the game and keeping I.T or some other guys for their lack of D really defends his actions.

I also think it's time to put Ray in the game. We've already put Jimmer and Ray in the game together and it doesn't seem that bad, I think we need to try it a little more. It will give Ray a chance to play and learn the game & defend and Jimmer can play off the ball a bit.

Cle will fully deserve losing Kyrie in a couple years. They simply have no idea how to build a team and surround Lebron previously, now Kyrie, with adequate talent. It's more than that though, it's an organizational issue.

They haven't learned from Lebron who also was allowed to do whatever he wanted, including bringing his posse on road trips.

What do you mean, no realistic options? Realistic in terms of what goals? We're DFL in the western conference, we've lost six in a row. What the hell does Malone think might happen if he doesn't play Thomas the whole game?

We may be DFL but we are playing good teams well, and with Cousins back, could easily have a winning record the second half of the season against a patsy schedule. Its borderline, but not a debacle yet.

Play a non-NBA PG heavy minutes instead, and it could turn into debacle. Blowuts every night, destruction of any attempts at competitiveness.

Funny, we don't appear to be getting blown out when McCallum is out there...
I agree. The team looks more organized whether they are or aren't. We are turning into an so team with IT at the controls. I don't think that is taking us anywhere. In this last game, we did not lose any with Ray on the court and in the first half actually caught up to San Antonio and passed them. Let's play him some before judging his capabilities. We are prejudging now.
