And he left Jimmer in for WAY too long. yes Isaiah had 2 fouls. but you have to be able to put him back in early in the 2nd and trust that he wont pick up another foul
A center with two fouls in the first quarter is in foul trouble. A guard with two fouls in the first quarter is NOT in foul trouble.

he doesn't need to sit all 5 starters at he same time, there is really no need for that. and he did it for an extended stretch, against the SA Spurs of all people. it did not go well.

We'll agree to disagree.

Start Williams or Gay at shooting guard for the love of god that is our best line up and both guys can make wide open shots that Mclemore is getting while actually giving you something in terms of catching the ball and defence.

I have a lot more to worry about personally than whether or not Ray McCallum is going to see playing time. If he had any skills at all, don't you think he'd be out there? I suspect he is either totally unable to understand offensive schemes or he's even less adapt than Jimmer or he's showing so little in practice it's obvious to everyone he's not ready.
i understand that, but Jimmer has been awful. no reason Ray shouldnt have a chance.

and also, the point i was trying to make was that the Coach has been saying he needs to get Ray out there, but he hasn't been sticking to his word. i was just mentioning that, not saying i personally think Ray should or should not be playing

I have no idea. I have my doubts. I've always had my doubts. I wanted no part of him before the draft, then he sort of fell in our laps.

That's why I'd have no issue trading him if the right offer came around. He reminds me so much of Thomas Robinson mentally. Like he just doesn't understand what he's supposed to do at any given time. He's shooting when he shouldn't, not shooting when he should. Helping at weird times. Falling asleep on off the ball defense / leaving shooting. His head is a mess right now.
Does he just not have good instincts for the NBA game? He's a good guy, seems to be intelligent,...but, something?

Giving up on Ben already is probably a mistake.....getting frustrated with him is understandable....but he's a young inexperienced kid. He's going to be alright but in the meantime, going to play poorly at times. He just went thru a stretch of good solid play mostly.

Maybe he's a poor practice player. Maybe Malone doesn't like the cut of his jib. Who knows?

If one thing is for sure, though, it's that Malone is playing to win. He doesn't really have the talent to do so, but he's definitely not playing for ping-pong balls.

Really though, discussing his constant struggles and lack of productivity is not giving up on him. It's just there every game, so it will be talked about

Look, the knock on B-Mac from the draft is that he has all the potential in the world but is going to take some time to develop. Nothing we've seen changes that now.

That lineup we started the second quarter with. Terrible. I wonder what Mike Malone was thinking. Jimmer, Thornton, outlaw, Williams, and acy? Yikes. We were competitive up until that point the spurs made their run. Were back in the game now but our main guys have to play extended minutes, our bench is awful.

I think sometimes people forget just how often players DONT work out. Most player don't, in fact. The general idea is that a top 10 pick should turn into a good to great player, when in actuality most guys never really make it.

I don't think we can assume Ben is going to be fine.

Coach is being diplomatic in his responses about Ray. Would you rather he said, "I don't know. He's sucking it up big time in practice..." IF Ray was doing anything in practice to merit court time, I'm pretty positive he'd be getting it.

Perhaps not, but I don't really think that a fear of him not being fine is any reason to pull him.

Everybody clamored for Ben to start. And look what's happened. The idea of rookies being able to compete successfully right away in the NBA is something way too many people take for granted. A good number of rookies just aren't able to do so. The gap between college and the NBA is not just a puddle for those rookies not named Lebron James or Kevin Durant.
I'm going to go with the Jimmer has been here reason on why Ray isn't getting any minutes. I'm sure if Ray played meaningful minutes he'd have some good moments and poor moments....but really, my guess is its Jimmer's shot to keep it. I'd just like to see a PG bigger than a midget playing

well if he has no plans to play him and if Ray is not ready to play (outside of garbage time) then he shouldn't be coming out and saying he needs to get him in the game and trust him.

Okay, I'm trying to be patient but dude... seriously? Why would you take a throw-away comment about a second round draft pick and hold Malone to it as though it was carved in stone? Malone doesn't volunteer anything about Ray. The ONLY time he says something is when he's asked directly.

Nice to see us at least maintain a striking distance to the Spurs. But you have to wonder at what point the Spurs are gonna kick it up a gear. And, just as I'm typing that, Pop blows a gasket...

I don't really disagree. I mean, if he does happen to pan out it's better than he takes his lumps now. And he's here now, so we really don't have a choice. To late for second guessing.

But I'd still pull him under certain scenarios, especially because like you mentioned before .. we are trying to win.

And I think the overall concern is completely justified.

because he has mentioned it more than once and it's not the only thing he says but does not do. he has said the team is not good enough to have Cousins and Gay on the bench at the same time, but every game since he said that, he has pulled them out at the same time

I think part of this for me...and maybe others is we don't want to see Jimmer at PG.....I equate Jimmer at PG to Salmons and Hayes playing....just don't want to see it anymore.
