Season Summary:
Carl Landry reminds me of a typical Power Forward from the 80s. He's great in the post, has a good 18 foot jump shot and if his defensive rebounding was better he might be a good contributor. Unfortunately this isn't the 80s and Carl just isn't fast enough for the modern game. I really wish I knew the conversation that led to signing a power forward that already failed next to Cousins once.
Advanced Stats Glossary:
T_MIN = Total Minutes. The seconds are converted to decimal values out of a 100 to make querying easier.
DIFF/MIN = Differential per Minute
T_DIFF = Total Differential
AVG_SPD = Average Speed in MPH
REB/MIN = Rebounds per Minute
UFG% = Unguarded Field Goal Percentage. Unguarded means there is no one within 3.5 feet.
CFG% = Contested Field Goal Percentage. There is at least one defender within 3.5 feet.
DFG% = Field Goals defended at rim percentage.
AT_RATIO = Assist to Turnover ratio. This includes passes that lead to free throws and the pass that lead to an assist, so it will seems inflated.

Carl's year tracked the Kings Season pretty well. He we much better under Malone, terrible under Corbin and improved under Karl. I included his average speed, because Carl tried to play faster than under Malone, but wasn't as effective. He also as you can see has one of the worst Assist to Turnover ratios on the team. Interestingly enough with his label as a black hole, Landry was not last in passes per touch. Cousins and Gay were more likely to put up a shot than Landry.
Player Comparison:
I decided to compare Carl to Kris Humphries. They have similar stats and are both older Power Forwards. If only Carl could stay in the post and play with a long distance shooting center he might be productive off the bench. But Reggie Evans was not a good partner for him.

So Carl has developed quite the perimeter shot, it's too bad he's not a center. If we could some how make him grow 4 inches and teach him how to get defensive rebounds, he would be a real asset. Right now though he is going to be 12/13th man on the bench next year, hopefully providing some veteran leadership.

Season Highlight:
11-07-14 VS PHO
Carl had a healthy +19 of the bench with 12 points and 8 boards in a double over time game when the games still mattered.

Season Lowlight:
11-13-14
The Courtney Lee shot that shouldn't have counted game. Carl did have 10 points and 4 boards, but he fouled out in 25 minutes and the Grizzlies made most of their 26 point comeback while he was on the floor.

Next Steps:
13th Man most likely. With the salary cap increase coming in the next few years, there is no reason to give away assets to part with Carl. So he is most likely going to be here next year and probably the year after that.
Possible Replacement:
None really, as his deal is one of the worst in the league. Hopefully he can provide some Veteran Leadership along with Andre Miller next season.
Season Grade:
B, I am actually going to give Landry a B here for the bounce back year. He is what he is, once of the better post players in the league on both offense and defense. He is just limited in every other area, but we knew that when we signed him.
General Manager Grade:
F. I think I said this is one of those moves that sets a franchise back years when it was made. [PDA Logic] When you have a dominate post center, obviously you want a non-rebounding post player to play Power Forward as well.[/PDA Logic] What makes this so frustrating, is the Landry/Cousins pairing was already tried once and failed. It was like John Salmons all over again, when we thought he would do better if he was older and more overpaid. I can't wait for the next Marcus Thornton contract (I am kidding Vlade, don't even think about it.)
