A very interesting article on Courtney Paris from an Oklahoma prospective.
What I got from this is the Paris Twins are from athletic royalty that has always played and won at every single level, both Father and Daughters. And now that Courtney is in the pros, she is finding out that success is not going to come as easy for her as it did with her Dad in San Francisco or in Piedmont, Modesto and Norman, Oklahoma, and she is attempting to make the adjustment.
My observations on Paris in the first ten games of the season is very mixed. She is the youngest player by far on a very veteran squad that is desperate to save their season. She plays behind Brunson, Harper, Walker and Kelly, all players that were here last season and are productive veterans. She is going to have to wait her turn or out play those players in practice to earn her minutes. In the time she plays, though her body is changing for the better that probably makes her more mobile, it is still not enough. You can tell that she struggles with the speed of the game particularly in the post and in transition. She does not move her feet enough in order to adjust to balls that do not come directly to her hands on rebounds, passes and loose balls.
With all that said, I think that starting next season, if she physically adjust by losing weight, go play overseas to work on her game, she will be the starting center for the Sacramento Monarchs for years to come. She is too good not to. But it is on her, how bad does she want it.
On a Side Note: If I am not mistaken, the writer of this article is the same writer that was on the other end of the Mike Gundy Oklahoma State Football coach classic post game melt down.
