Why Not Bibby for MVP?

Well, I was thinking about who should get MVp this year. These next, what 19 games?, the leader of the KIngs is obviously Bibby. You can see it right now, that he nhas made 2 game winners in a row. It might be wishful thinking, but at least, maybe a canditate.

What do you guys think?

Nope. Won't even get a vote.

Now, if he can play like he has in the last month in a half for the entire season next year, he'd at least get mentioned. Doubt he'd get it, but he has been playing like an elite superstar player now since the end of January.

I'm as big of Bibby fan as they come and as much as I would love to see him win something like that, he would get no consideration for mvp. Even if he played like how he's been playing for a whole season (like Brick said), he probably still wouldn't get it. Mike never gets the respect he deserves. It is wishful thinking though.

Defense could keep him away from such an elite status as a player.

nash plays even less defense than bibby and he is a mvp candidate.... all peja does is shoot.... no rebounding what so ever and he got some votes last year.... why not bibby....

point taken. Why not Bibby.

Bibby would probably have to finish every game for the remainder of the season with a last second jumpshot to win in order for him to get my vote for mvp.

Yeah, Mike did have 12 assists today... but often when he has "off" games he can totally disappear. Superstars don't do that. At least not regularly... Mike's been playing solid, but he typically will have 2 good games and then a lousy one...

Last year, Peja played solid defense and averaged 6.3 rebounds per game. He scored 24.2 ppg, and shot 48% FG, 43.3% 3PT, and 92.7% FT, all while leading the Kings to the league's best record in absense of Webber, who was the Kings' leader. That's why he got mentioned.

I would argue that KG is more valuable to the Wolves, Kobe is more valuable to the Lakers, Shaq is more valuable to the heat, than Bibby is valuable to the Kings. But that is not to say that Bibby is not the Kings MVP, because he certainly is. What we would do without Mike out there, I do not know.

kg is 1 inch taller and averaged .2 points less than peja yet didnt he lead the league in rebounding last year.... 6.3 rebounds is nothing.....

And that is one of the reasons KG got the MVP and Peja did not. At the same time, comparing Peja's rebounding statistics to KG's is pointless. Their games are completely different--Peja plays offense and defense mostly on the perimeter, while KG plays in the post (even though he can play on the outside). Even if KG and Peja were equally talented at rebounding, Peja would only average 8-9 rpg because of his perimeter game. But combine Peja's perimeter game with softness and an allergy for rebounding, you get 4.2 rebounds per game. 4.2 is nothing. 6.3 was solid.

how do you know how he will play next year ?
Who does know...but I think he deserves a spot simply for this years snub! Also I believe that Bibby's best basketball is still ahead of him, I know that there are great things still to come from him.
