Why is Jimmer still starting?

With after the way Isaiah played why are they still starting Jimmer?

While I can't say for sure I would guess that Jimmer has outplayed Thomas in practice and in training camp. If this is the case then one game where Jimmer didn't play that bad shouldn't change the coaches mind as to who should be starting.

i'd say it has something to do with the Kings are racking in millions off of Jimmer memorabilia and are selling an absurd about of memorabilia in general because of him... also the Kings traded for Salmons to draft him and he's earning 3 to 5 times the amount IT is .... its not based on production on the court thats for sure.

IT in the end is probably best as bench spark and I'm sure the organization doesn't want to give up on its #1 pick and further hurt his confidence yet. being beaten out not by a vet but by a fellow rook is a pretty direct rebuke. That said, the interesting question will be which one of those two guards is going to get the backup guard minutes when Thronton returns, because IT has earned them.

Also not sure the lineups have even been announced for tonight so this may be premature.

Simply, because he is a first round prospect and has only started all of two games replacing an injured player. Why wouldn't he start? His development is way, way, way more important to the organization at this point than IT's.

Because the fans care more about who starts the game than the coach does. Who plays in the 4th quarter in a tight game is the true indicator of who the staff thinks can win the game. Bobby Jackson used to play a lot of 4th quarter minutes and rarely started.

Plus IT is great off the bench right now and it works. He should be happy to be the 60th pick and is getting so much playing time in the league.

I agreed as well.

You're completely wrong about that, as I've told you before, yet you continue to ignore.

We had the 7th pick. Traded DOWN to the 10th, and swapped Beno for Salmons. We would have STILL been able to get Jimmer at 7. Shall I say it another way so it's a little clearer to you. Swapping Beno for Salmons had ZERO BEARING on whether Jimmer would be taken at 7 or 10. The idea we traded Beno to get the opportunity to draft Jimmer at 10 makes no sense in reality, given we already had a better chance to get him at 7.

Let me know if you're still confused. You're biggest problem on this forum is that despite all your rantings, you continually ignore facts.

the clsoer interpretation is that we liked Jimmer more than the other PG prospects anyway, and felt we coudl afford to trade down to #10 and still get our guy.

Agree. Have to with Jimmer, good or bad. With IT any good is a bonus (no pun intended). I hope they both turn out to be diamonds for the KIngs.

also thanks for pointing out how stupid / confused I must be and that i continually ignore facts.... although its funny seeing how someone else just corrected you... but drop the salmons trade and everything else is a huge factor to why he's starting... glad you had to focus on the one part that you ended up not be so right about... whatever forget that jimmer allowed salmons to happen... via trade

i should also point out that my reference to Jimmer being paid more also refers to being a 1st round lottery pick vs IT. they go hand in hand... as a reason he's starting

Actually, I think Jimmer is still starting because Smart is, well, "smartly" trying to curb the revolving door of player lineups. This is a temporary lineup change based on a short term injury so no reason to shake things up every other night.

It doesnt really matter if he starts or not. It is just the minutes played and if he cant play defense against Lowry or Martin, Thomas will play for him.

I wasn't wrong about it at all. What is wrong with your reading comprehension?

We would have gotten Jimmer at 7 or 10 if we wanted. We didn't trade Beno for him. Brick didn't disagree with that. Brick brought up we liked Jimmer than the other pg's in that part of the draft, and were confident he's be there at 10. 7 or 10, because Char wanted Kemba. Trading Beno had no bearing in whether Jimmer would be there for us at either spot. Petrie knew MJ wanted Kemba.

You still think we traded Beno to get Jimmer? You think that's what Brick said? God you're lost.

Also think of all the Jimmermania fans that would be on Smarts back if he didnt give Jimmer time. Its kind of like he has to play Jimmer, even if hes not ready.

BOOM!!! goes the dynamite. You sir, win the thread.

Remember the times when we were all complaining about westy changing starting lineup and rotation every other night?

This is a huge key. Smart has doen some unfortunate late game smallball experimenting, but you can feel how much more focused his starting lineups/roles are. He's going to find a small group of guys to beleive in and then ride them.

because the last thing you want to do is shake his confidence a little more... starting him gives him more experience which will help the team in the long run. and let's face it we caught the raps unaware with IT. its not going to happen on a consistent basis.

OMG i freaking get it... since we knew we could get him at 10 so we traded Beno to open up the backcourt for Jimmer... great... thus arrived Salmons and Jimmer from the bucks. for the 7th and beno...

your right about the trade... we didn't need to trade to draft beno!!!!! jeez i know that , i have known that.... wow...i'll be honest i can't believe your makings such a fuss about that one part of my comment and ranting over and over and over about it when it was one point in a series. that trade happened because we were drafting jimmer... otherwise we don't trade beno... and salmons isn't chucking away in sacramento... thats all I'm saying! the trade was related to jimmer coming to town... not the freaking reason he came to town!!! i freaking get it...

wow what a waste of time on your part to keep screaming about the trade.. wow
