Why do you love the kings

barney and beer, definitely different, lol.
I was also a Bulls fan in the Jordan era then the team fell apart and I lost interest fro a while then one day I was flipping through the channels and saw this "team" and I mean it in every sense of the word. Then I saw that million dollar smile and I was totally hooked. As has been stated, they really do play the way it should be played and how can you not love them? Hoopsy-behave;) The smile left but the "team" remained. There are other reasons but those are the main ones, plus my fav. color is purple:D

I look at the game as an art. Grabbing and holding passes as good defense these days. I prefer watching finesse and skill. I wish the rules favored skill over strength, but at this point they don't. I like watching passing. Why do you care if I prefer watching a passing team lose over a winning team play 1/2 court, iso, use up the entire shot clock basket ball?

Say what now?

You'd rather "look good" and lose than "look bad" and win? Who are you, Sidney Deane?

Ah, the beauty of team play, the art of the way the Kings played since 98, the charisma, the passion, all reasons why that ERA was the favorite for me. It made up for in spades all those years when we were the door-mat of the NBA, the losing (no, there is nothing pretty in getting your behind kicked just about every night;) ) the early Kings didn't have anything even close to approaching what these recent Kings teams have been, but dagnabit, they were OURS, so we loved them. We just KNEW that, one day, they would be good if we just kept the faith, and lo and behold, we were treated to something very few fans ever get and that was a run of teams that were special, that made the whole world sit up and take notice. We fell short of the big prize, but those teams left a mark on the landscape of the NBA.

This years team is yet a mystery, their chapter in our franchise's history as yet unwritten, a new era. May it be as fun as the last!

Great sentiments, my friend, and ones I heartily concur with.

My own belief is that as long as we, the fans, continue to give them the love and encouragement they feed off, they'll continue to give US the kind of play we've grown accustomed to.

GO KINGS!!!!!

lol.. sometimes i forget stuff....

Lol.... Actually were both stupid and forgeting the main thing. Basketball only has "30" teams, not 32.

...sigh...

And VF21 tries AGAIN to get the thread back onto something remotely resembling the topic...

I forgot one thing that I really should mention: I also LOVE Slamson!

;)

I'm not from California, I'm from the midwest so I've never had a home team. I was a Lakers fan and had lost a lot of interest in the NBA after Magic Johnson got HIV and retired. Except for one season I was a Suns fan when the Bulls beat them in the finals, after that I pretty much ignored the NBA. I thought what was the point the Bulls were going to win it anyway. Even the two seasons Jordan wasn't around I thought what is the point it doesn't count since Jordan isn't around anyway.

As I look back on this I regret this way of thinking, but when the NBA came back after the lockout I took an extreme interest in the NBA again. I originally took notice of the Kings because Webber was in Sacramento and he had always been my favorite player in college. Then I seen a coulpe of Jason Williams highlights and I began going out of my way to try and watch them play. The first thing I noticed was the way they passed the ball and like to run. After watching them play a few times I was hooked. A large contributing factor was how tough they played against the Jazz in the regular season and playoffs, because I hated the Jazz with a passion.

They continued to improve every season and Petrie made great move after great move. Before I knew it they were the best shooting team in the league. I love watching the Princeton offense, I think you have to be a smart player to play in that system. When Bibby got traded for Williams, it was the greatest thing that ever happened to the Kings IMO. As much as I liked watching Williams I could no longer make excuses for the stupid things he did or his inability to show improvement in those areas. So that season I ordered the NBA League Pass and I have had it every season since. I could count on my hands the # of games that I've missed, now that I have a DVR it doesn't happen.

I love the king because they have Peja stojakovic and the team whit most fans !

They have a good team and i was disapointed when they got kicked out of the playoffs ! i did what a real king fans hat to do i poo poo my dipers

I saw Chris Webber spit out his gum outside of ARCO, so I picked it up and stored it in a ziploc bag. When the Kings play, I always get that piece of gum out and chew it for the whole game. It is very good luck.

I love this team because of the pure emotion that the players and fans express. Especially in the years past. I love the experience of being a Kings fan. The highs and lows of games and each player and coach and GM on the Kings I love them all. I feel as they feel after every victory and every heart breaking defeat. I am excited to watch or listen to as many games as possible. Every emotion I feel in the best of times I remember as well as every devestating defeat. I would not want it any other way. Heck I even enjoy the banter with fellow Kings fans on this site and many others.

I used to root for the Bulls because of MJ. After he retired the 2nd time I lost my interest in basketball. Anyway I wasn't that much of basketball fan till '02 WCF. If there were any team other than the Kings I would have skipped these games. The way they pass and play seemed to me each one them had 6th sense. No offense, for the local folks in Sacramento it's almost given that you became the Kings fan. For me it was out of blue, never seen such play. I still have vivid memory Bibby's clutch & Peja's 3 shots. And it was the first time I felt hatred towards the Lakers.

I started watching during the shortened season. I immediately fell in love, not only with their fast, fun, furious and sometimes frustrating play but with the hard working, floor diving, boxing out men who did all the little things. I became immediately hooked and haven't stopped watching them since. :)

thanks slim for the link-- I didn't have to retype this. ;)
