Why didn't the Maloofs consider San Jose?

I'm not sure if they ever did consider San Jose or not, but if they did, why didn't they push harder?

The team remains in Northern California
HP Pavilion is just as good, if not better than Honda Center
Considering they want to compete with the Lakers and the Clippers, the Warriors don't have a big fan base, so there would be nothing to worry about sharing the fan base in the Bay Area.

I think the possible/probable TV deal has a lot to do with it.

This does have a lot to do with it. From everything I've heard, they can get double in Anaheim what they can in San Jose on a cable deal.

Also, Samueli is rolling out the red carpet and offering loans and what not for the Kings. While the Sharks and city of San Jose want an NBA tenant for their building, they aren't going the extra length or at least not as far as Samuel is.

I think the cable deal is critical in favor of Anaheim. I always wondered when W's were sold to a group that reportedly under-bid Ellison if there was not some secret part that was demanded by the new ownership to keep NBA out of San Jose or else they would not accept the deal. Ellison basically implied as much when he was miffed over getting the shaft. Of course, if he's eventually successful in buying the Hornets that will then be a mute point.

A good compromise would be to allow a team in San Jose but limit their rights to Santa Clara county while the Warriors have rights to the rest of the bay area. What the Warriors are worried about is the possibility of San Jose just being a temporary stop before Ellison throws his money around and helps fund an SF arena. THAT would kill the Warriors because they are banking on eventually moving to the city when the Giants get around to building the arena as a centerpiece to their proposed community around the baseball stadium. The Warriors would then be rent payers but be in an arena that will attract corporate sponsors galore and a bunch of stuff that they can't get at Oracle. If Ellison takes their place, then they'll be justified in feeling ripped off since they paid $450 million for the team.

OTOH, if the league can work out a lease that limits an incoming Ellison team to just San Jose or elsewhere in Santa Clara county if the arena becomes unsuitable, then the Warriors would probably lay off and allow it to happen.

If you have a good offer please submit it. Nothing is locked yet. Some predict when the Kings leave Sacramento they will go to Las Vegas.

Entire issue is the arena now, yesterday, last year, a decade ago. Las Vegas does not have an NBA arena yet - although it appears they are further along towards getting one than Sac. The Kings are virtually certain to leave (I'll call it 90% at least) but they have to go where there's an arena - an NBA arena. Louisville (yes), Kansas City (yes), Seattle (no), San Jose (yes, but no chance), and of course Anaheim (yes). Meanwhile, FOX40 News just closed their 10pm telecast signoff with a big-time swipe at Sac mayor for being openly pessimistic, likewise blasting R.E. Graswitch for his negative email. But Jim Crandall said it's not looking good at all for Kings staying in Sac despite last ditch effort by a few local movers and shakers to put something together on the story he broke a couple days ago.
