This is a mixed bag. So far as it would appear the Maloofs have only meddled in the big stuff, and the results have been a mixture if that is true. Webber (boo) Artest (yay) and then the coach, where they were almsot certainly the ones calling for Adelman's dismissal, but reports indicated they were then going to do the even bigger stupid and hire thier WNBA coach until Geoff stepped in and urged them to look a little deeper -- result being Muss.
Given that Geoff's backside is rapidly expanding and taking on the shape of his office chair, I'm not sure whether more Maloofs or less is the answer. And I can construct scenarios either way. In one, the Maloofs who have come right out and said that they don't beleive in rebuilding, are basically shrotcircuiting Geoff's rebilding plan with impulsive and shortsighted decisions. In the other, Geoff, who got fired from Portland for similar paralysis as they began to sink in the early 90's, really has deluded himself about the state of our players/team, is basically a soft GM in love with skills that mimicked his own as a player, and basically needed to be overridden or things would be worse. Turth is I'm not terribly enamored with either party's decisionmaking at this point.
