Between KMart and BMiller who needs to play better for us to be sucessful of course we would want both to step up. but WHO needs to play better for us to be sucessful?

Both. Kevin Martin has been playing very well lately, and really has been scoring from all around. But it's gonna be tough for him to fill the spot of Bonzi Wells, so he's gonna have to continue playing harder and must continue to improve so that the kings wont regret letting him go. I think he's capable of playing better though, just needs to continue to attack the rim and get to the line.

Miller needs to act more as of a team leader. He hasnt had the best of stats, and between he and bibby, they really need to step it up and run the team...

Simple answer---everyone. We need all the players to step up in order to try to minimize our weaknesses--mainly rebounding and defense in the paint.

SEE SIG

kevin martin has been playing like manu ginobili. getting out on the break, making solid moves in the half court set. he,artest and bibby are evolving into the big 3. just kicking brad miller out of the equation. needs to get his bottom in the paint and block some shots. move those big feet of his and play some stinkin defense. a 7footer that knows how to make 3-pointers is not very useful if the guy cant put the ball on the floor. if he could put the ball no the floor he'd be twice as dangerous on the offensive end.

definetly has to be Kevin Martin. we need a sg that can score and can defend top players in the pacific division such as kobe and steve nash. artest cant defend them and the other four players on the court.

Brad Miler will get his points from jumpshots and kevin will act like he is rip hamilton so I think the person who should step up should be Kenny Thomas. Right now all he does is foul and miss free throws.

Kevin Martin has already stepped his game up MAJORLY... with that said, the only option to pick would be BRAD MILLER.

He's such a pansy in the playoffs.... reminds me of Peja
Keep in mind I'm talking about in the PLAYOFFS, where it matters.

EVERYONE needs to step up on this team to be successful this year.

But if I had to choose, it would be Salmons. Big shoes to fill until Bibby returns.

I put KMart because once he consistently puts up around 20 ppg, we no longer need Brad's offense and therefore don't need him. Your core would then be Bibby-Artest-KMoney and can spend the next few years working up "the trade". Meanwhile you strengthen chemistry, work on team defense, and find the right bench roleplayers. Sounds easy right?...

That "core" won't ever win any serious games.

You've got no one that can bruise. You need to be able to push people around in order to win in the playoffs. Shooting is streaky, at best.

It obvious Artest doesn't see himself as a post player, so regardless of how effective he can or can't be down there, the production from that spot will be spotty.

Of course, I like the name KMoney more than KMart.

If you ask me Kevin and Brad are going to get their 15 to 25 respectfully. you can't ask them to get 25 apeice or 30 what have you. What you do need is KT if he starts to contribute a little more on offense. He did well drawing the double team down low and passing out as did SAR. SAR did well driving from the perimeter. Those 2 are the 2 that needs to step up in Bibby's absence. They Both need to get 10 to 14 each with the rest getting their average for us to be able to tuff it out during these first few weeks. Asking Kevin to do more is crazy He is going to suprise alot of ppl this year already averaging close to 20ppg in the preseason. Now i am not opposed to He, Brad, or Artest having a great game and coming up with 25-30 points but asking them to step up and having to do that is not what we need. We need contributions from everybody including Salmons and Price. Price should keep jacking the 3's to ensure the floor is spread properly.

Funny because the way I see it, we don't win one game without those guys. Those three are the toughest guys we have mentally. They are the ones that will not be denied when we need a score.

I just don't understand how you can make a statement like that and actually stand by it. Between those three guys you have: at least 50 ppg, at least 10 rpg, at least 12 apg, at least 5 spg, with above average defense, knowledge at getting to the line, and a major clutch factor. Sounds like a core to me.

The core is what you build around, it does not mean these guys do everything. It just means that they carry most of the load. Surround them with the right fillers, and we are back in contention no doubt.

I think his point was this -- you still need a serious big guy. Everybody needs a serious big guy. You don't score your way to a title. At best, you just become a poor man's New Jersey.

Miller definitely. Martin has nothing to really prove yet. This is his firt year starting, and he still can use that excuse. Miller on the other hand has no excuse. He screws it up this year, and he is done in my books.

KMoney is a great nickname:D

Couldn't agree more. But that big guy does not need to be a 20 ppg scorer. If you can get a total of 20 ppg out of the starting PF and C spots combined, and couple that with the starting stats of Bibby/Artest/K$ (kmoney), then you have a recipe for sucess IMO. Of course, (I shouldn't have to say this but I will anyway:rolleyes: ) these big guys need to be good rebounders/defenders. ;)

glad to see brad miller leading the poll. he's played horribly. martin is playing out of his mind. he just needs to keep it up, he doesnt need to play better.

IMO Kevin has stepped it up, he is constantly improving.

As for Brad - I can't say I have been impressed by him for the past two years - I don't like his attitude - he strikes me as way too full of himself, unjustifiably so & he is constanly whinning to the refs, his play has not been impressive and if I were Petrie he'd be on my short list for do or die.

I think Brad IS at the top of his game. We forget he was an undrafted senior out of Purdue. Sure, would be nice for him to "up" his game. I think he is doing that but he is not going to be a big shot blocker or plug the middle as we all wish. His lateral movement is as good as its going to get. He is doing the best he can and did get on Team USA for a reason. But we need the 6-8 assists a night from him as a step up and making 2-3 3's a night.

No,I think "step up" needs to be KT and Salmons. KT to get 10 and 10 on a regular basis and Salmons be our Bobby+ (the + 'cause he is 6-7) off the bench.

Kevin has stepped up and only needs floor time. Bibby is Bibby. Artest needs to step up his rebounding to be 5+ a night along with 3-5 steals and 15-20 pts.

So lets give it some time. 20 games should be a good starting point reference to see who, in fact, has "stepped up" their game.
