I know Kobe will be @ top of this list, but I can't help but vote for Sprewell... between the choking incident and the "need to feed the family", I just can't stand him.

Oh good lord. When are people going to let that myth die?

Robert Horry DIDN'T kill our chances.

The worst choke job in the history of the Kings franchise AND a total melt-down and inability to shoot free throws in the overtime of game 7 is what killed Sacramento's chance to become NBA champs.

It's really past time to take off the purple-tinted glasses and be honest, at least with yourself if no one else. The Kings had every chance in the world to win game 7. They LOST that game. Period.

I agree completely. However, Horry's shot didn't exactly HELP our chances either... ;)

What's wrong with Raja? I like him.
Play offs against Dallas. Bobby Jackson is back WITH a broken cheek bone. Raja Bell is getting schooled and decides instead of going after the ball to go after Bobby Jackons face a consumate act of tughish cowadice that I will never forget or forgive. Personally I belive that there are some thug level palys that should be punnished with a large tatoo of the the letter "T" on the perpatrators forehead so that every player, coach and fan will know the scum on sight. Once a guy like Fortson gets his foredhead covered we have a public stoneing mid court at halftime.

kobe bryant? most disliked in the nba? depends on who you ask (and at a kings forum, of course he's gonna win the unattractive title), but realistically, i'd say its closer to someone like latrell sprewell, who everybody can agree is a jerk-and-a-half.

You've got to be kidding me. Other than Laker fans, who roots for Kobe? Even his own teammates and coaches dislike him.

other than pistons fans, who roots for rasheed wallace? other than kings fans, who roots for bonzi wells?...etc

who roots for what player is irrelevant. we're not talking about the most rooted for player in the nba. we're talking about the one who is liked the least. the terms on which that player is disliked were not discussed, either. had the original poster titled the thread "who is the one player in the nba that is so damn talented that it frustrates every player, coach, and fan of the nba into hating him?"...then we can say kobe bryant. but we're talking about most "disliked" player, in general. that's a broad spectrum to cover, and the competition in the poll is quite stiff. so much so, in fact, that it shouldn't be as lopsided as it is.

i don't "dislike" kobe bryant because of his amazing talents, but i do "dislike" latrell sprewell cuz he's a jerk. kobe bryant may be arrogant, but he's got the talent to back it up. i'm not calling that a justification, but its true. the man can ball. and people hate him for it. imo, that's lame. his teammates may dislike him because he's a ball hog, and his coaches may even dislike him because of his will to disobey, but outside of that group, who has any justification to actually "dislike" the guy? he made a mistake not too long ago in cheating on his wife, and maybe that's a valid reason to dislike him, but that's a personal issue for kobe bryant, and nba fans shouldnt concern themselves with that matter.

latrell sprewell, on the other hand, once choked his own coach. he also claimed that he should be getting paid more because he has a family to feed. now those are proper grounds to dislike someone. the former is inexcusable behavior. the nba should have expelled him from the league after that incident. the latter is a ridiculous statement that pisses people off because of it's outright ignorance. the guy has a violent history and a big mouth. ron artest has the same. i don't personally dislike ron artest, but i'm sure plenty of pacers fans do. of course, this is all my opinion, but i will argue it no further, because most people (kings fans especially) are so biased in their hatred for anyone in a lakers jersey (kobe bryant especially) that they tend to argue irrationally. i'm not saying that you're arguing irrationally. i'm actually not really saying anything at all. i just dont think many people have given proper reasoning concerning why they "dislike" kobe bryant (edit: actually, with 43 votes, very few people have given any reason whatsoever as to why they dislike kobe bryant. this may very well say something about the bias in the polling. just an observation i found interesting).

1. Kobe's teammates dislike him because he is aloof and selfish.
2. Kobe's coaches dislike him (as Phil Jackson pointed out in his book) because he is aloof and selfish.
3. NBA fans dislike him because he is aloof and selfish.

No one dislikes him because he is good. You don't see Tim Duncan, LeBron James, or Kevin Garnett on any lists.

Sure, he is a Laker and this is a Kings board, but Kobe appears to be disliked across the county (see GQ poll of NBA players referenced in my first post). Here is the excerpt on Bryant in the GQ article:

“I’d be the first to tell you that Kobe has not helped himself with a lot of what’s gone on,” says Greg Anthony, former NBA player and current ESPN analyst. “He’s never been the type to do things that would endear him to his teammates.” Maurice Carter, one of Bryant’s former Laker teammates, agrees: “He’s to himself. You’re not in Kobe’s life outside basketball; you just have to accept that.” But it’s not the off-court cold shoulder that rubs his teammates the wrong way; Bryant’s on-court behavior is the real problem. “As a player,” explains Anthony, “first and foremost, it’s shot selection. You’ve gotta understand that when you’re not playing the game the right way, it’s going to negatively impact you toward your teammates. And there were a lot of complaints about Kobe being selfish, not caring about anyone other than himself. Even his coach said he was uncoachable. If your coach is saying it, you can rest assured the players are saying it.”

Shaquille O’Neal was the focal point in Phil Jackson’s vaunted triangle offense, but Kobe’s refusal to take a backseat to the Diesel sunk what could’ve been the most dominant basketball dynasty ever. “I’ve talked to Scottie Pippen and Michael,” says Anthony, “and if Michael Jordan played with Shaq, he would have found a way to let Shaq be the man.”

“They could have won six in a row,” says one NBA insider, but Shaq and Kobe “wouldn’t even speak to each other. I mean, that’s almost unheard-of. You’re talking about teammates, the two best players at the time—not only on the team, but in the league—and they had no personal relationship. None. And I’m not talking about a day but an entire season!”

Where is Stephon Marbury on this list? The guy has all of Kobe's problems and a fraction of the talent. Not to mention I can't remember the last time I've heard anyone say anything remotely nice about the guy.

That's not the premise of the thread. Really, none of us know who is most disliked among his peers. I doubt that there's one single player who is truly disliked by the others -- at least in the NBA. There is no Rafael Palmiero, Barry Bonds, or Albert Belle. There's not even a Bill Laimbeer anymore.

If you don't know by now, I guess you never will.

He's been problems for the Blazers, Kings, Spurs, Mavs, Clippers, Sixers, Nuggets, Warriors, etc...

The off-the-court crap is merely something that intensifies the issue above.

Why exactly is alonzo mourning on this poll? I was never aware of him being disliked by anone except the raptors after he complained there and basically created the opportunity to go to miami. Is there something else that he has done/said or a particular team/player that disliked him?

My vote goes to Kobe.

'Love me or hate me, it's one or the other. Always has been. Hate my game, my swagger. Hate my fadeaway, my hunger. Hate that I'm a veteran. A champion. Hate that. Hate it with all your heart. And hate that I'm loved, for the exact same reasons." - Nike's commercial.
