The Cs may not have much choice though. I don't think they can offer him what the Kings can. I'm not certain how these things work but wouldn't the Kings just have to beat the Celtics qualifying offer?

Yes, but it's the C's call in the end...beings they have the right to offer him as much as it takes to keep him, if they wanted.

Wouldn't hurt to send a slightly overpaid offer his way. It would put Ainge in a horrible position of either overpaying the 7th best player on his team or coming out of the Perkins trade with essentially nothing.
