I still don;t understand why that $10 million figure is coming from, though:

If only $2 million was guaranteed on the last year, wouldn;t he only be owed $6 million remaining at the most?

They've already corrected it, but where did that $10 million figure come from in the first place? Sloppy reporting or deliberate attempts to manipulate the narrative? Around the time he was rumored to be fired earlier this year everyone was reporting he had $10 million left even though 2 minutes with Google produced the correct number of $6.5 million guaranteed.

Locally it's possible with competing agendas then compound that with lazy reporting and suddenly you have a new "fact."

ESPN I think is just lazy -- they re-print everything and then charge for "premium" coverage. It's more the local coverage that I'm skeptical of. Or at least I don't understand how a professional journalist working for a circulated publication can put facts in print that I could confirm as incorrect in less time than it takes to make a cup of coffee.
