What's the best local health club?

I am looking to join a health club and am seeking advice on the best and cheapest one. This is not something I want to do, but it looks like I have to as I'm recovering from an inflamed calf muscle that just isn't healing. I think it keeps getting aggravated from the type of exercise I am doing now, and that is why I have to try something different that would require health club equipment. All I care about is using the stationary bikes and pool, and I don't want to sign a long-term contract as this is just going to be temporary. I hate it when health clubs are too crowded, too, and one has to wait a while to use the machines.

Any recommendations??

Do you have a Golds Gym in your area? The one here is pretty big and I usually don't have to wait for people to finish the machines. They're pretty good.

Gold's Gym is too far away, unfortunately. I went ahead and joined Calif. Family Fitness. Sounds good so far.
Great gym. Been a member @ the Elk Grove location for about 3 years now. I'm very happy with them.

I've been a member of California Family Fitness for 4 years. Great gyms all around town. I'm dropping them though because I just joined the new Gold's Gym in Natomas. Great gym also. Can't go wrong with either, but the Gold's is two minutes from my home.

Gold's Gym is awesome. The first time I went to it was the one in NY. They have great trainers there. But California Family Fitness has some great gyms like Biggie Hitzz said. There's quite a few in Sacramento also. :)
