What's going to happen if continue to lose?

What if we started the season 5-15. What do you think would realalistically happen to the team?

Adelman will get fired....One of the Big 3 gets traded....One of the starters get benched....What do you think?

Maybe all of the above. We would not survive in our current form, that's for sure.

But that's a tad premature. I'm not even sure we'll survive a struggling .500 start, let alone a full-fledged fall on your face meltdown, but 5-15 is still a ways off. We've got a LONG homestand comin up after tonight, and as in years past that may cure much, at least in the shortterm.

Lots of finger pointing.......... Then trades, followed by a dismal season followed by a new coach.. say hello to 1988

Petrie is Adelman's buddy. Even if the Kings go 5-15, Petrie will probably persuade the Maloofs to keep Adelman for additional 8-10 games. If Adelman couldn't turned the season around by then, all hells will break lose. Adelman will be fired. Certain players will be on the trading block. Geoff will probably tell the interim coach to play certain players extensive minutes and make them the main focus to drive up their trade values.

Adelmann has said a bunch of times recently that he needs much more practice time for the Kings due to all the new faces. He didn't get it in pre-season so now has to get practice time in the first month of the season. I've said before and will continue to say, the Kings will need most of November to see what kind of team we really will have this year.

They could go 5-10 but have a front loaded home court schedule this year that will help. In 10-12 more games they should start to solidify. Any panic attacks now are baseless. You've got 10 faces on the team that weren't here one year ago. And you've got player styles that are new to the Kings: Bonzi, SAR and Skinner for example.

So have some patience and cool it. Watch for progress in 2 weeks. Then lets see what we have.

If Petrie gets to make the call, we ride it out. If the Maloofs get antsy, then Rick is out and probably Peja too. I think the Maloofs will trust in Petrie and let the season ride out if the losing continues, so I think that'd lead to a lottery pick and hopefully a young star to rejuvenuate this franchise.

Even if we fail, I can't see us failing badly neough to get up into the top of the lottery. So any kid we picked up would be no guarantee at all.

Also not at all sure I share your optimism (if that is what it is) about the Maloof's patience, which seemed won to a nub last eyar. guess we'll see. Or hoepfully won't have to.

I am hoping that we do not have to find out. If we do, I see Adleman getting the ax. I also think that the Maloofs would be more willing to trade Bibby than Peja. I don't know why, or agree with it - just a feeling I have.

ALSO, I would LOVE to have KG on our team. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. I do think that we have to be careful who we give up for him. He has NOT gotten the job done alone in Minny. Itis not a one man game. He needs good players around him. I just hink we need to tread carefully. (BTW, I really do NOT see Minny giving him up for anybody.)

Well, I think I am starting to lose a little faith in whats currently going on. The Maloofs have apparently already stated they'll make "moves" if they have to, and they have given Adelman the players he wanted according to the commentarty on ESPN. I don't like the fact that they have already said those things. So basically this could be very interesting, a lot of jobs are on the line here.

What's going to happen if the Kings continue to lose? Well, first of all, the earth will stop rotating. Then the sun will die and we will all be in darkness around the clock. Then we will be struck by a plague of frogs, locusts, and garden gnomes. Finally everything and everyone will vaporize.

I heard Maloof say on the radio down here(L.A.) that he wanted to see where the team was after 25 games. If we keep looking this bad I see Adleman gone by then.
Interesting -- well that's both a good and a bad. 25 games is long enough that this team will have its chance to prove...soemthing. That it can make the playoffs and get ushered out by a more serious squad in all liklihood. But the bad is that if we're still struggling this bad at the 25 game mark the season could be effectively scuttled.

We will have fewer Kings fans because the casual fans will fall off the bandwagon.

"What's going to happen if [the Kings] continue to lose?"

1. The "NBA Champions - Kings - 2006" t-shirt sales are probably going to plummet.

2. Reservations for Kings 2006 NBA finals tour packages are most likely going to suffer a similar fate.

3. The Kings will not grace the cover of SI magazine.

4. The Kings may hit double digits in losses before they hit double digits in wins. (And it won't be the first time.)

5. The "We're #1" foam fingers will look even MORE ridiculous.

6. Arby's might actually bring back the "If the Kings win at home on a Tuesday, you get a free Arby burger the following day" promotional campaign.

7. Trades will continue to be bandied about on message boards with the same result as always.

8. Threads will continue to be started trying to find ONE reason and ONE magic cure for all the team woes, with the same result as always.

9. Some of the fans who arrived late and had to sit in the back of the bandwagon just might be able to move up a couple of rows. ;)

10. Loyal Kings fans will still be loyal Kings fans. They'll still cheer and they'll still moan. They'll still come to Kingsfans.com and talk about their team.

------------------------------------------------

It's easy to be a fan when a team is winning. It's a little harder to stick around when the going gets tough.

GO KINGS!!!!!

Everything is falling into place. The Maloofs are giving Adelman, and perhaps the team, 25 games to make something happen. If nothing changes by Christmas, everthing is likely to change: coach, players, and venue.

Oh, come on, qd. While it's pretty much inevitable that there will be some player changes - and eventually a coaching change - to jump clear to the conclusion that there's going to be a venue change in the near future is pretty gloomistic, isn't it?

When the Maloofs bought this franchise, it was in dire straits. They've rebuilt before and I'm reasonably sure they know they have to do it again. At this point, IMHO, we are at the crossroads. And it's way too premature to consider moving the team a done deal. In fact, I think the worst thing people can do is just give up hope.

Call me a bandwagonner, I don't care. But this team sucks.
Before i get ripped for criticizing the kings and their 1-4 record. I wanna take the time to say that even if we finish 78-4, it wont change my theory about this team.

I love the kings and spent a lot of money driving down to NYC to watch them play, but i am starting to get fed up with this organization. As a kings fans, we are still holding on tightly to that 2001-2002 team that was just so perfectly put together, and that clearly should of went all the way. It acts like warm soup on a cold winter night on our souls. (Sorry for all you Californians, couldn't find a better analogy). But fact of the matter is that we are in NBA "no man's land". This soft cake of a team will have trouble winning a series come playoff time and we all know it, even if they one day start finding on-court chemistry. Charles Barkley once said, if you're a contender and one of the 3-4 best teams in the league or one of the 2-3 worst, then you're fine, everybody else is in no man's land, which does make a lot of sense. I am sick and tired of loving and cheering for a team that folds whenever adversity stares them in the face.

"Offense sells tickets, Defense wins championships" isnt a theory, it's the truth. Every single NBA Champion that there ever was, can not be called a poor defensive team. I am tired of having a coach and a GM who, instead of adressing the team's biggest need, brush it off like if it wasn't that important or secondary. On paper we are a good team, a good bunch of players individually. We're a team filled with jump shooters who can't rebound or put the clamps on someone defensively.

We would be better off just blowing this team up and trading everybody for draft picks. If you're not a contender or an upcoming team(like the baby bulls), what's the point of not rebuilding? Does anyone here honestly think that we are gonna be able to pull through when the real season starts, the playoffs? No, you wanna know why, because we fill FOLD, like we always do... especially with the guys that we have now.

Kings fans are the best in the NBA, they remind me of Duke's Cameron Crazies. And as the best fans in the league, I think all of us deserve a better team than this bunch of jump shooting softies.
