what was kenny thomas thinking ?

why did he even attempt that pass......luckely we won, but you guys just dont want to believe me..this team is EXTREMELY turnover prone in clutch situations...its not just about 'guys getting used to eachother' ...its plain up stupid mistakes... i think in the 4th quarter today, we had 5 straight turnovers..............

though, i loved kenny thomas's block...

He just was'nt. Probalby on auto piolt saw Pedaj with a lead on the defender and made the pass... might have evne thought "Oh $hit" just as the ball left his hand.

yeah that was a super stupid move... i was screaming at my tv like, "what the [explicit] are you thinking? there's only 12 [explicit]ing seconds left"

almost had a heartattack..... but bibby.... cold as ice....

he clearly wasn't thinking in an "end of game situation" mode

mental mistake

but we won...so its water under the bridge for me

^^ same here IHR8B, just a mistake and it didn't cost us. I think tonight killed my JINX..So I am happy about that fact alone!

I'll tell you what Thomas was thinking. He thought that once he grabbed the rebound and saw Peja streaking down the court, he threw the ball a little farther out of Peja's reach but away from the defender. He just threw it a little too hard. Maybe if #16 was a little more fleet of foot or DOVE FOR THE BALL!!!!!!, he would have had it and the ball game is over.

Good thought, poor execution.

If he dove for the ball he wouldn't be able to take a shot anyway. He would have been on the floor.

But the clock would have continued to run and it wouldn't have been a 4 on 5 at the other end.

Thats why I said in another thread it was a bad pass. I don't think it was Peja's fault at all and KT should of held the ball and dished it off to Bibby and let the time run out.

Thomas said after the game that he thought Pedja should have run a little faster as a joke. LOL. :D Probably true, huh?? But he blames it himself though and said he should have never done that.

Totally unnecesaary -- the clippers ahve to foul you in that situation anyway. Unless you turn it over you ARE going to get points (or at least shots).

Short answer to the question is: he wasn't.

I would have to say that peja was not going for the ball 100% and brunsen got in there and stole it.

I would have to put the blame about 60% thomas and 40% peja.

because I thought peja could have gotten the ball and at least gotten a foul called on brunsen.

That pass should never have been thrown, sorry. To anyone, let alone Peja.

That kind of joke can get a guy traded...

A few plays before kenny thomas makes a great defensive play which stops a sure dunk. he also makes this ill-advised pass which could have (but did not) cost us the game.

I will say one thing about kenny thomas, I sure am glad to see us have someone in the game at power forward who is playing defense, and makes a mental mistake, then see someone who is not playing defense and makes a mental mistake.

This was all in the flow of the game, he might have been thinking get it to the best free throw shooter on the team (kenny had just missed his last 2 free throws). whatever he was thinking it does not really matter now because WE WON THE GAME!

every player makes bonehead plays some cost games some don't. It is realy easy for us to see more than a player on the floor, we as fans have a better view.

If there is one thing to point at point to the 6 missed FT in the game. or the fact our starting forwards got 10 points and 2 rebounds!

I don't know about everyone else, but I love the players we traded for because these guys play at 100% all of the time. they really do not look as though they are taking any plays off!

wasn't his fault totally one of the guards should have went and got the ball out of his hands.I saw mike just watch him instead of going to get the basketball.Bad communication not just from kenny but with the backcourt.

from nba.com

"I guess Peja isn't fast enough," Thomas said. "I still shouldn't have thrown it like that. I'm just happy that Mike stepped up again. He bailed me out."

KThomas' thoughts:

1) "Clippers are going to have to foul me. Damn, I don't want to have to hit these clutch free throws"

2) "Maybe I should get the ball to the best free throw shooter on the team. Where's Peja?"

3) "Hey, he's streaking up the sideline, and all he's got to do is out muscle Brunson to catch the ball"

4) "Oh damn, I forgot that Peja isn't exactly TMac. That was a stupid pass."

Edit: I'm glad, in a way, that KThomas didn't give the ball to Bibby considering Bibby's free throw struggles of late. Should have just held onto the ball himself (I think he's a pretty solid free throw shooter -- too lazy to look it up).

I don't mind it.. I was pissed when it happened.. It could have happened any time during the game (because we still won) so it is not a big deal.

It was a TERRIBLE decision on his part, but still we won. Mike Bibby as always was Git'n r'done, and I am okay with that.

I don't think he will make the same mistake twice, so I am willing to overlook it - of course if we lost because of it I would probably have another story for you all.

If he does it again though... but I doubt it. I think he deserves a break this time.
