What is up with Ryan Gomes?

What is going on with Ryan Gomes... gets traded then WAIVED! I am not too familiar with his game other than that he shoots 45% from the field and 36% from 3... statistically otherwise uninteresting... but only scores 10 pts per game in 30 minutes; yet he started most of the season...

Haven't seen him play too much, but he can be a stat stuffer if given the minutes. I had him on my fantasy team a couple years ago in Boston and he gave me a couple triple doubles, or very close to it, can't remember. Now I also had him in the KF league this past season and he seemed very inconsistent

Looks to me like the Blazers paid $2.75M + Martell Webster to get Luke Babbitt. Finanically it makes a bit of sense - the overall cost will be about $10M for the first four years of Babbitt's contract plus the Gomes buyout, while Webster was due almost $16M over the next three years. Can Babbitt replace Webster? I kind of doubt it, but I imagine Batum is going to be getting a lot of the minutes at the 3 anyhow.
