So here it is a nice quiet Saturday and once again Kings fans are reeling from bad news.

It started in the summer of 2004. First, Webber came out and made comments some took to be snipes at Peja or Vlade or some players unnamed and the local and national media had a field day, twisting his words every which way to get the most out of them. Little did we know that was but the tip of the iceberg...

Then, Vlade decided to accept an offer from the dreaded Lakers.

Then Peja announced that he no longer wanted to be a King. That he wanted to be traded and he didn't care where he went.

Well, we survived those ordeals. They didn't kill us (Kings fans); they made us stronger.

Then came the first of the year. Peja showed up, reports were that he and Webber had mended whatever rift had occurred between them and we settled in for what we hoped could be one last shot at the elusive prize.

Then came the injury to Bobby. Then we noticed Doug slowing down. Webber had a few bad games and a lot of good ones, though, so we kept the faith.

Then came the announcement that shook most Kings fans to the core. Doug Christie was gone. He was traded away to the Orlando Magic.

It hurt - it hurt a lot - but it didn't kill us; we got a little stronger still.

We thought everything was done as far as trades go, although a couple of polls here at Kingsfans.com showed more people thought Peja would be traded than Webber. We didn't think a Webber trade was possible. It was something just thrown out there to gauge the feelings of the people on the board.

Then THE announcement. Less than 24 hours before the trade deadline, the entire NBA was rocked with the announcement that Chris Webber - CHRIS WEBBER - had been traded to the 76ers.

That one rocked everyone's world. And everyone survived. IT didn't kill us; it made us stronger.

Now, another injury to a key player. Brad Miller broke his leg - during a light shooting drill during practice - and will be out for at least 4 to 6 weeks.

Fellow Kings fans: We can survive this one, too. It won't kill us. In fact, we have now become so strong that we can survive just about anything. All we need to do is share that strength with the guys on the court.

We are Kings fans! We are invincible!!!

GO KINGS!!!!!

You needed my reminder to go through it again? Sorry, piksi... All of that stuff is still really vivid in my memory.

Well currently I am on spring break - living in denial.

When I get back I will create my own imaginary world locking out everything bad.

It might sound pathetic but it sure beats R. Horry poping up in my dreams

4 to 6 weeks minimum. That doesn't take into effect the atrophy of the muscles, etc. Best case scenario is he'd be back for the the later games of the first round of the playoffs.

That's nice VF, but are we really getting stronger or are we dead inside? One way to tell is to have someone poke you with a sharp stick and time how long it takes to react. Anything over 6 seconds, you're done for.

Alacron - If you're talking about the chances of the Kings going deep into the playoffs, that boat had already sailed in my mind. So this isn't the straw that broke the camel's back for me - the poor creature was already prone on the ground with bones protruding from his spine.

If you're talking about the team in general being done (as in stick a fork in them), then I really think you're wrong. This team doesn't give up. When you factor in how well Skinner has done, even as a much too small center in the games Brad has already missed, you have to retain some optimism.

If you're talking about fans and their general feeling, if people are still on the board they haven't given up or fallen off the wagon to be crushed by the wheels.

Stronger? If we have to get any stronger, we might be subpoenaed by the grand jury to testify in the Balco case.
LMFAO

nice post VF

and you are right i mean the hardest thing as kings fans that we had to endure thus far was the Chris trade it took us a week or two but we got over it...and it did make us stronger (us the fans and us the kings players)

everything happens for a reason...
someday hopefully in the near future we will see why all these things have happened

Well for me I just don't think it's sunk in yet... I mean I was hoping to have Brad back tomorrow, now it looks like he won't suit up until next year. He was the guy I was thinking, "If we can just stay afloat until Brad gets back we should be OK..."

Blah. I wasn't considering going deep in the playoffs, but I was harboring hopes of making it to the second round. I can't stand seeing Mark Cuban happy. I just can't!!

The optimist in me keeps screming that with a pile of crap this high "There must be poney in there some where!" Seriously the tem out look for the post season was grim before, and I was just hopeing to see some great play all thbe pices come together going into the paly offs for the Kings to supprise everyone with a second or even WCF apearance. Now I don't even know what to hope for.

What doesn't kill you... often maims you for life, leaves you permanently disabled and needing a nursemaid to change your bedpan for the remainder of your short and pathetic existence? :D

And that sounds like the opening of a personal injury lawsuit. Have you ever considered switching the type of law you practice?

;)

Geez. I am NOT going to get depressed over Brad Miller's leg. Sorry, but it ain't gonna happen.

Yes, it's unfortunate but after what I've already been through with this team this year it simply doesn't even make the top 5 list on VF21's Depressing Things from the 2004/2005 Season of the Sacramento Kings.

lol... very nice brick, very nice

and dont worry padrino, i'm waiting too...

my thoughts on the injury is that it SUCKS!!!...at first more than after I think about it. Since Skinner, Thomas, and Corliss have really had enough time in our system, we are on a three game winning streak. I know its only three games, and who knows what could happen (plus the fact htat bibby won 2 for us at the end), i see a very very good finish to the season. In my mind we will deffinetly be the 5 seed, possibly the 4, depending on how dallas plays... so i am very unhappy about his injuring, even tho it wasnt something controlable, and I hope he can contribute whenever he comes back, which is hopefully soon, but I don't think it'll hurt us as much as it originally seemed to me that it would (wow that was a run on sentence...sry)

GO KINGS!

(tag should tear it up against yao... hehe)
