Because Padrino impresses me, I have to ask. Is this college radio you're listening to? That's quite a diverse array of acts. Talk about breaking sports fan stereotypes. Sufjan, Cat Power and MBV... and I've yet to look at posts before that.
I guess not college radio with the Coheed and the Muse mentions, but where are you listening to this stuff?
lol
music is my business. it is my greatest passion. everything i post is what i'm currently listening to on my ipod (with my itrip through my stereo).
i don't dig much on the radio. commercials and dj's annoy me, as does most of the music floating around on the airwaves these days.
i try not to brag about my music collection, because it has become quite vast over the few years i've been collecting and listening to music, and i hate sounding pretentious or excessive...but to give you an idea about how much music i have to choose from, my itunes stats are currently:
6612 songs, 31.68 GB. that's 19 days, 10 hours, 22 minutes, and 21 seconds of music available to me. and no, i don't get around to listening to it all very often, but i do believe in keeping my playlists fresh and varied.
and i must thank you for paying me those complements. i do try to break stereotypes. i believe there is too much great music out there to limit oneself to a certain style or subgroup. i try to apply this to life as well. i don't like to think of myself simply as "a basketball player," "a basketball fan," "a musician," "a collector and admirer of music," "a writer," "a backpacker," "a lover of life," etc. i believe there is too much to experience in this beautiful world to confine ourselves to so little. music just happens to be the chief mold for me to express this desire to experience as much beauty as possible.
and i'm done preaching. i get that way when i talk about music. i just want people to kind of join me in the musical world we can create together. you see, there's a very tiny place in between the music and the lyrics of a song that you can retreat to and call your own. it's a safe haven, and i wish more people would discover it and utilize it. it's gotten me through the best of times and the worst of times.
life, love, laughter, music, poetry, and the sacramento kings, baby!
